Gamezilla!
If, however, this is your first introduction to the Gundam series and a solid game is more your goal, you’ll find the gameplay frustrating and the average graphics and sound disappointing.

Electric Playground
The game isn’t particularly innovative, and ends rather rapidly. It is more of a Gundam teaser than a really rich gaming experience.

GamePro
Limited button-customization, poor object detection, and sloppy beam-saber execution add to the frustrations. Still, Journey to Jaburo is an enjoyable alternative for fans of giant-robot games.

Enjoyable despite its flaws, and it offers those who have never seen the original television series or its movie adaptation a condensed version of a classic part of anime history.

GameSpy
For a mech combat game, Journey to Jaburo isn't terrible, but it is lacking good control and the graphics are pretty sad overall.

IGN
It's not a recommended purchase for those who aren't fans of the series (and "Gundam Wing" followers are advised to stay well away), but it was never intended to be anything else.

If you're a huge fan of the original Gundam series, this is your Game of the Year...On the other hand, if you're just looking for a fun game, Jaburo will likely bore you with snail's pace gameplay and frustrating missions.

PSX Nation
Diminished quality, lackluster programming effort and PlayStation 2-unworthy effects.

What it does have is anime cutscenes and voices lifted right out of the Gundam Wing series, and ultimately, fans of the series are the only ones who will get real enjoyment from it.

A snail in an Olympic sized pool moves faster than this game, and it gets to the point where it becomes too frustrating to play.

This easily pales in comparison next to "Z.O.E." or "Armored Core 2," and I'm not interested in spending more time with it.

The control can be a pain but the strength of the Gundam story is good enough to struggle through it.

Next Generation Magazine
The lack of multiplayer combat consigns this one to mediocrity. [Nov 2001, p.108]

Only a hollow shell of the landmark 1979 series that started it all. [Oct 2001, p.148]

Game Revolution
Once again, Gundam gamers are left with the wrong end of the beam saber. More bad control, less game and more advertisements.

Ok this game is going to start a war lets see all the retards that broke out of the mental hospital stole the game and hated the game cuz you had to THINK AND PLAY THE GAME and not just turn it on.

Jagd Doga gave it a 10:
Wow, it is odd how it can get such a good score then some critics are losers...

Exaptation gave it a 9:
This game is really great and the reason that people don't like it is because they put the limitations of the mechs into their response to your controls. Each mech had a variable tolerance for inputing different types of moves. Once you learn the limitations of each mech it is not hard at all to make them do what you want. The downside of the game is the lack of missions to play. The story mode is great but very brief and not to challenging. The tactic battles are also great fun (I played them till i had S+ ratings for all the missions) but there were only three mission maps.

Ty B. gave it a 9:
Good but a little short.

#1 Fan gave it a 10:
I love this Game!

Gundam Fan gave it a 10:
This Game is awesome!

[Anonymous] gave it a 6:
The graphics were good and all but it was too short. One thing i really hated was theres no 2 player. AC2AA was pretty much the same only u could custumize the mechs and there was 2 player. They should have made a kick ass Gundam Wing game.
