The graphics are the games strong point, with fluid character development and crisp backgrounds.

The great thing about MX 2002 is that it combines both of these kinds of gameplay--competitive racing and freestyle tricks--and does them both well.

The best motocross game I have ever played... It fuses realism with arcade styles beautifully and it opens up the once stodgy motocross sub-genre into a world of stunts, tricks and freestyle racing like no game ever has before it.

Very solid overall and the bottom line is that it is extremely fun to play.

Because of its wealth of game modes and many tricks, "MX 2002" has a long life span, so players who invest in the game will likely get a lot of bang for their buck.

As an arcade racer, it's very easy to play, but doesn't have the shortcuts and environment interaction that makes it a blast to play.

Takes a little longer to get used to than your average motocross game, but the result is a deeper game that still has all the fun of a more arcadelike offering.

A pretty, well-designed, stylish, and captivating piece of work that unfortunately suffers a bit with some distant and muted sound effects and less-than-engaging races.

The bikes in this game perform much like real motocross bikes, something that isnt too spectacular if youre a fan of more fantastical racing games.

On the up side we have an excellent create-a-biker mode, some wonderful tutorials, and some surprisingly good control. [Aug 2001, p.109]

Invisible barriers also pepper the apparently open areas which grace certain courses call us new-fashioned, but PLAY doesn't expect to be dismounted for no other reason than touching a piece of earth that the coders have deemed "out of bounds". Put a tangible obstacle there or let us the hell through!

A decent game that makes you crave more. More AI riders, more options, more depth. If it had these things it would be a must-buy title.

Although not shallow-enough to be deemed brain-dead, the antics of MX 2002 aren't going to make "GT3" gearheads sit up and take notice.

MX 2002 is on the good side of average, but it still doesn't stand out from the crowd.

Kinda accessible, sorta deep, and relatively enjoyable, MX2002 may find its true niche with big motocross fans, but casual gamers will likely be left in the dust.
