GameSpy
A spectacular game, but you cant help but think it could have been deeper.

85
GameZone
Its a game that is very competitive to play, and once the controls are grasped and you can take full advantage of this game then you will be capable of things that would be unimaginable to even the most famous of supercross stars.

80
Yahoo! Games
It may be a little too hard for some and the learning curve is definitely steep, but this is a game that's worth the effort.

80
Total Video Games
Offers a more depth and is generally more fun then every other Motocross title before it.

75
XenGamers
It has a few nagging flaws like the lack of a good third-person view or in-menu loading screens, but it is playable and should keep motocross fans busy.

75
GamerWeb Sony
Offers a good amount of playability for anyone even remotely interested in motocross or racing games in general.

72
GameSpot
There's definitely a lot to do, and MXRider will last a long time, especially for those of you who feel the need to get everything out of a game.

70
Hot Games
Although not the stellar accomplishment that "Splashdown" was for the Atari label, it's still a solid effort, and a good choice for fans of motocross.

70
Game Informer
The courses are twisted and the mud splatters nice and thick. [Dec 2001, p.95]
70
Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
If only the tricks were fun to perform. [Jan 2002, p.130]
62
IGN
Twisting the throttle and going may be fun in real life, but without a way to translate the handling of rhythm, body control, and other deeper elements of racing strategy, it's going to get old relatively quickly.

60
GameShark
Isn't quite stern enough to be a simulation game, nor is it easy enough to be an arcade game. What's left is a great looking game that's too shallow to be truly enjoyable.

60
All Game Guide
It isn't anything revolutionary, just very solid, balanced between simulation and arcade, delivering just enough technique to satisfy demanding players.

60
PSX Nation
It's got control and stunt/trick issues to contend with as well as a disregard for real-life sim physics, but the European flavor of the racing antics in "MX Rider" are definitely worth sampling.

59
Gamezilla!
There are far better motocross games out there...it isnt worthy of gracing the PlayStation 2.

50
Gaming Age
If you really get into the way the game handles you will find hours and hours worth of stuff to keep occupied thanks to the horde of gameplay modes and challenges to accomplish.
