Most of the racing is exciting and a treat for the eyes, but there should have been more in the way of multiplay.

As a multiplayer game, though, the fun doesn't last as long as it should. [July 2002, p.76]

The fact that I got so involved in the solo portion of a multiplayer game meant they were doing something right. [June 2002, p.99]
Game Informer
I just couldn't get into the bland fighting half of the game. [Nov 2002, p.128]
PSM Magazine
It's entertaining for a while, but unless you add alcohol and gambling, it won't dominate your life. [June 2002, p.38]
Electronic Gaming Monthly
Addictive and fun whether you're entertaining a group of friends or a party of one. [June 2002, p.110]
PSX Nation
The low asking price and endearing charm of the Rayman universe prevent this decent attempt at a story-less Rayman 2 spinoff from completely bombing out

It's not the kind of party game that lasts well beyond the immediate draw. [June 2002, p.63]
GameSpot
Anyone looking for an exciting mascot racing game won't find too much to like here once the thrill of four-player multiplayer has worn off.

It's too bad that only about half of Rayman Arena is fun to play. [August 2002, p.65]

Ryan M. gave it an 8:
Rayman gone multiplayer. Never saw it coming. Well it's not a half bad game, with elements of racing, and battling, a overall decent game if you have the multitap for 4 people. Just one thing, Graphics are terrible but if your straightforward game play, get this one.
