The PS2s slowdown monster rears its ugly head from time to time, mainly during huge (5+ monsters on screen) fights.

The cutscenes look good, and surprisingly, the voice acting is some of the best I've heard lately. [Nov 2002, p.128]

It's just too long. The game takes about 20 hours to complete but in my opinion, it would have been ten times better if it was half as long. The game becomes very repetitive in virtually all areas including the gameplay, environments and sounds.
Game Over Online
The tone, the foreboding mood, and the massive amounts of action that youll undergo can make up for its shortcomings. Science fiction fans will probably eat this one up.

The non-stop, thumb-numbing combat you suddenly find yourself engaged in seems weirdly at odds with the deliberate emotional build of the cinematics, throwing into stark relief the differences between the original and current game-visions, but the experience nevertheless holds together.

Delivers a good twist on the "Resident Evil"-style game play by adding more action and speed, a decent script and memorable characters.

When you have to kill the same set of aliens in each and every area of the game though, things get very monotonous rather quickly.

It's too easy to play through to feel like anything was earned, and parts of it look unfinished.

It just seems to consistently fall short in the action, puzzle, and suspense categories.

If you go in expecting action as opposed to getting your socks scared off, you can have fun with it.

It's just too bad that the shoot-'em up gameplay setting things up is so generic. [Nov 2002, p.188]

If you purchase/rent Run Like Hell fully aware of its quirks (repetitive gameplay, iffy control, passable-but-not-extraordinary visuals) then some fun can be had with its Aliens-meets-The Predator shooting antics and awesome Dolby Pro Logic II-coded sounds/voice-overs.

While it isn't a technical powerhouse, Run Like Hell paints its sci-fi visions compellingly through inspired designs and rich imagery. [Nov 2002, p.78]

The game lacks a level of polish and fine-tuning that would have made it a truly great title. [Nov 2002, p.38]
Gamer's Pulse
There werent any killer mistakes, but all the little details like the unnatural character animations and the poor control setup start to add up.

Recycled gameplay, overused mechanics and jarring shifts between mini-challenges and exploration will leave you slightly disconnected from the overall experience.

The core gameplay is just too tiresome and frustrating to be entertaining for any extended length of time, but the story and cinematic presentation is a nice bright spot.

All the games faults take away from the experience of what could have been a really entertaining survival-horror game with plenty of action and scares.

About as flat, mediocre, and average as a game can be. Underachieves throughout.

If only the designers had spent as much time on the gameplay as they did on rendering the abundant female anatomy. [18 Oct 2002, p.124]

Its not really all that scary, and the action isnt all that great. There. That wasnt so hard.

Factor in a very mushy and imprecise hit detection system, and Nick's life can drain frighteningly quickly without you even realizing he's being hit.

A game that--despite its lengthy development cycle--still feels rushed and incomplete.

Run Like Hell goes from easy to very hard and stays boring and derivative all the way through.

Steve gave it an 8:
Hard, good game play, good story line, fun to play and easy to get into, but does have a slow start. Good time consuming game.
Jeff C. gave it a 7:
Don't believe all the crap people write about this game. I was skeptical at first, but as the game went on, it got better and better. I think this is a game worth playing. I enjoyed it. It started out with a slow start and a lot of movies but it progressed and things got much better. I rate this game a 7 out of 10. Different bite for different likes. Enjoy the game.
Carl L. gave it a 10:
In Run Like Hell you receive live transmission messages from people who are still struggling to survive the cataclysmic events unfolding on the space station. You also see recordings revealing clues to the horror that has taken place when you were away... And the aliens are transforming people by merging them with horrific super beings called Elite. This is so brilliant, and reminds me of Systemshock2. Unlike Systemshock2, in Run Like Hell you get to actually find survivors, interact with them and try together to find ways to escape. Also in Run Like Hell space marines try to rescue you but fail in a horrific bloodbath they didn't expect, because you were electronically jammed from warning them by the intelligent aliens. This is the best Sci-Fi horror ever. And just like Systemshock2, the ending makes you feel wary and uncomfortable because you know it isn't over and the human race is still at stake. You meet many different variations of the alien race: Amalgamator - The master Aliens behind the attack. They are intelligent but not very strong. Brutes - Big monsters. Run for your life. Elites - have two legs two long arms and no head. They are telepathic and lead the others with mind control. They can have human heads from their victims assimilating their knowledge and personality. They can lure you into thinking that certain people are still alive to lure you. Cutters - Ugly fast aliens with sharp teeth like taken out of the movie aliens. Cloaked Cutters - Invisible cutters. Really creepy. Drones - Spiders with human heads. Really, really creepy. Scouts - Shaped like scorpions with alien heads and sharp teeth. Snipers - run on two feet but have multiple legs for climbing and hanging from any surface. They fire bolts of plasma at you from far away.
Kyle B. gave it a 0:
This title is completely misleading, If you expect to run then your wrong. A full 90% of the time your fighting the enemies head on with no where to run. Your weapons are extremely bland, it fails to make an interesting phaser or plasma slinging explosive grenade shot laser pistol boomer weapon that can make the game any cooler. The monsters are very 2d either they can be killed or not. The puzzles are more frustrating than anything and the game just sucks! Please for your safety avoid this game at all costs!
