Summary

ShellShock: Nam '67 focuses on one man’s experience of the most controversial war of modern times. You take on the role of a rookie soldier on his first tour of duty as he experiences the fear, chaos and atrocities of the Vietnam War. From the napalm bombardments of civilian villages and the gruesome VC (Viet Cong) boobytraps, to the permanent threat of invisible foes and deadly ambushes, Shellshock: Nam '67 dares to go where no other war game has gone. Powered by Guerrilla’s ground-breaking technology, ShellShock: Nam ‘67 delivers a graphically harrowing depiction of the terror of combat. You must fight your way through a variety of missions ranging from large scale battlefield encounters with the North Vietnamese Army to stealth-based missions such as assassinating a VC General. As you progress from a ‘grunt’ to Special Forces carrying out classified missions, you will have to rely on the same skills and tactics employed in the battlefields of Vietnam in order to survive. Your tour will take you from the lush wetlands of the South to the mountain borders of the North featuring diverse locations including dense jungles, rural Vietnamese villages and claustrophobic tunnel systems. With sluggish movement and imprecise aiming, the game does not meet shooter standards, and to make things worse, the terrain is limited and may give you a tough time in finding the way around blocked objects.

Another problem that I have with the game is that enemies will respawn in empty rooms. As soon as you think you've cleared a room of enemies there will be another round of them mysteriously appearing from the ether.

Easily one of the most underrated games ever devloped. I'll start with the graphics. The character models look great, although all of the vietnam soldiers in a certain group look the same. The environments are nice, to say the least. The gameplay is very nice. After you get past the control scheme, which isn't ALL that bad, you'll find yourself drawn in to the story and the missions, which is saying a lot for a 3rd person war game. The replay value is also fairly high, as you'll definitley find yourself wanting to play through it again after the first time. One of the coolest things about it is how the story incoporates the death of comrades heavily. Definitley at least worth a rental if you're interested in the Vietnam war, and if you like 3rd person shooter games.

Probably the best Vietnam shooter available on any console, besides BFV of course. Very fun, realisitic. Team-based makes it a little too easy to beat. Good game nonetheless, worth at least a rent. Check it out if you want some 'Nam action.
