Games Radar UK (Pre-2006)
A brief affair, a perfectly formed kinetic buzz. And, a long time after you've finished with it, you'll still hear the sounds. Repeat after us: Click. Thud. Buchhhhaaaaa.

Spank!
While the lack of a light gun will disappoint some, and gamers looking for depth are barking up the wrong tree, Silent Scope offers some of the most stupidly pleasurable shooting action to be found on PS2 (or anywhere).

Hot Games
Silent Scope looks good, sounds good, plays okay, but it's still a lot of fun -- but there's not a whole lot left to enjoy.

Fun while it lasts.

GameSpy
This is a good solid game, but nothing truly spectacular. It is a fun shooter, with a twist. That sniper scope adds a new dimension to the shooter genre.

TotalGames.net
A great arcade game that doesn''t quite hit the target.

Cincinnati Enquirer
A big hit in arcades; while the home version lacks the rifle grip and scope of the coin-op machine, it captures its feel.

Happy Puppy
The sound effects are very well done, but the senseless and endless chatter from your colleagues is distracting and unwanted, and the music score could have been much better and less monotonous.

CNET Gamecenter
Even though Silent Scope for the PS2 doesn't offer a gun peripheral like the arcade version (can we stress that enough?), it's still an exceptionally fun game that warrants attention.

Yahoo! Games
The D-pad tends to be a little slow and straight in responding and the joystick is a little too fast and wiggly. This can cause no end of trouble when you are trying to aim or if you or your targets are moving.

Da Gameboyz
Not all arcade games work successfully when ported to a console; this is sadly no exception.

IGN
Great fun while it lasts, which in most cases should wind up being as many hours as you can count on your hands.

Electric Playground
The lack of lightgun support and the shortness of the game hurt what is otherwise a great title.

Maxim Online
If sending a single bullet through someone’s head thousands of yards away sounds like a good Friday night to you, then Silent Scope is right up your alley (and therapy might not be a bad idea, either).

GamerWeb Sony
Suffers tremendously because of the control issues. Without the sniper rifle peripheral that made the arcade game a joy, Silent Scope is only a game that entertains in a brief, arcade-y way.

Daily Radar
It's a gun game without a gun, and there's really no way to get past that one glaring omission.

GameSpot
The added training mode in the home version doesn't make up for the fact that you can master the game in less than a day.

Gaming Age
You can beat it and explore all that it has to offer in a couple of hours, but it's still a fun game.

Core Magazine
The absence of the sniper rifle peripheral, which made the arcade game exceptional, sucks the life out of this title.

Gun usage would have made it a closer match to the arcades, and more levels would have made me feel much better about it on Day 2.

All Game Guide
The translation is nearly arcade perfect. The only thing missing is a full-sized sniper rifle, which ends up making a big difference.

PSX Nation
I really like SS and will pull it out of the shelf once every few moons, when I'm about three dozen other PS2 games shy of suggesting you spend $50 for it, when the same price tag can get you a discounted "House of the Dead 2" and third-party lightgun for your Dreamcast.

GamePen
To be blunt, the game just isn't fun without the gun.
