The Simpsons Game features a hilarious, sprawling, and mind-busting storyline crafted by the TV show's Emmy Award-winning writers. The action-comedy also features the full cast of voice actors from the TV show who reprise their roles for the game. In The Simpsons Game, Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa use exciting, all-new powers to save the world from rising chaos. To help the Simpsons, gamers at home must journey through all of Springfield (as well as vast worlds beyond!), vanquish an amazing array of villains, and fight their way through parodies of popular games. Revolution in gameplay it ain't, but its razor-sharp premise and humour make this the best Simpsons game on the market. [Dec 2007, p.92]

The Simpsons Game is a unique title - it's a game where the characters know they're in a game, and seek to use their new game-given powers to aid them in their journey to stop an alien menace and discover the meaning of their existence.

Gamer 2.0
In the end, what you are presented with is a very solid Simpsons title. Its humor, as stated, goes beyond just pleasing regular and hardcore Simpsons fans. So aside from the camera, the game is just find-diddly-ine to go on out and pick up.

I think fans will have a lot of fun with this one, as long as they take this for what it is: a platformer released on an aging console, with a helluva lot of personality and charm – a little like Homer himself.

The chuckles along the way make it worth the trouble for fans, but if you don’t know Arman Tamzarian from Disco Stu, most of the game’s redeeming elements will fall on deaf, bored ears. [Dec 2007, p.142]

The gameplay might not be anything special, but The Simpsons Game delivers more than enough laughs to make it worth a look.

IGN
The Simpsons Game on PS2 falls short of its next-gen brethren because of horrific controls that cause unneeded deaths throughout the game.

The problem with The Simpsons Game is that as an extended episode it is great, but as a video game it is average.

The camera is a nightmare, often getting stuck behind some invisible barrier or randomly switching to new and more disorienting angles. The collision detection's had a nervous breakdown, the puzzles are as laborious as a two-hour queue in the freezing cold and the combat has about as much depth as the shallow end at your local swimming pool.

The Simpsons Game may just be the funniest video game ever, but funny is not the same as fun,and it's just not a very good game. I found myself wanting to finish the game just for the humor, even though I was screaming at the TV after falling down the 10,000th pit or when the camera showing me the wall again while i get killed.

Lee K. gave it an8:
This game is pretty ok..... but the bad thing is the camera. Its pretty hard to see around. This game also includes unlimited lives since it doesent matter how many times you fall or get killed. I kind of enjoyed this game.

Tom P. gave it a6:
I am a true Simpsons fan, and was looking forward to this game for a while. Aside from Hit and Run, the Simpsons games really sucked. This one does not really suck, but just kind of sucks. The camera is as bad as any game I have played. It makes it hard to jump in some areas. It is also rather repetitive. Jump, Punch, Kick. That is about it. The puzzles are rather easy and boring, and with the awful camera, it makes them extremely annoying when you fall and have to start all over again. That being said, there are moments that will make you laugh out loud, and the animations are better than one might think. Overall rent it on Gamefly unless you are a Simpsons nut like me!
