Summary

Sly Cooper was born into the world's greatest thieving family. On his eighth birthday, Sly is presented with the "Thievius Raccoonus," an ancient thieving instruction guide passed down through his family for generations. Later that evening, a gang of ruthless villains break into his harmonious home to steal the valuable heirloom. As Sly watches in terror, the intruders overpower his father and split the "Thievius Raccoonus" into pieces, which they divide between themselves. Ten years later, Sly is out to steal the "Thievius Raccoonus" back and reclaim what is rightfully his. He enlists the help of his gadget genius pal, Bentley, and his big eager friend Murray, and the trio embark on a quest to help Sly prove he is the world's greatest thief and to restore honor to his family's name. An unequivocal blast. The framerate chokes, I wish to God it was about twice as long (I unlocked everything in just over eight hours), but everything else about the game is quite literally perfect.

Sure, Sly is indebted to a certain Mario, but the adventure genre is far from spent, and Sly's guaranteed to steal a few gaming hours, if not an entire weekend. [20 Sept 2002]

Sly Cooper is the first video game to directly parody the "Metal Gear Solid" series, and it does it really, really well.

A great platformer, whose only flaw is that it is rather short in length. The visuals and animations on Sly are just jaw-dropping, and the levels are diverse and gorgeous to sneak around in.

Perhaps one of the coolest parts of this game is that after every level is completed, Sly learns a new stealth move, which helps him get by enemies and dodge traps and ambushes.

Truly something special...[but] the thirty-five missions are briefer than they sound and the game is just plain easy to beat.

It’s a bit on the short side, but “Sly Cooper” also looks good, controls great and sounds pleasant-enough to deserve its own BGM soundtrack.

Noah S. gave it a10:
Sly is a perfect franchise that could very well withstand the test of playstation/sony history. It's instant classic with many features and humor that will make the player fall in love with this raccoon and his story a true masterpiece.

Antonio V. gave it a10:
The best of this game is that Sly has a character with class, mistery, leadership (of course respect) and a strong feeling of friendship and honor. Qualitys that I think everybody would like to have. So this game is a kind of fable: very useful for children, very ilustrative for teens and a reminder for grown-up ones.

Carlos L. gave it an8:
This game is NOT A STEALTH GAME. So people stop saying it is. WEll the game is very fun playing as Sly Cooper. You can do amazing feats as him and the game has fun mini missions that are all different and have a fun mini games to change the formula. The plot is good and is entertaining. The Graphics are pretty and help the game. The only problem is the game is way to freaking SHORT you can beat in one sitting I should know I bought this as my first PS2 game and i had no memory card and in one day i beat and kept going to beat again and agian to get all the moves.

Stephan K. gave it a0:
What a load of junk. A wannabe steal game that gets punched, stomped on, and thrown off a 10-story building by games such a Splinter Cell and Thief. Actually, you can't even compare them to each other. Sly is a game that makes me feel like I'm controlling some cartoon character. WAY too kiddie and overall just plain crap.

Joseph gave it a 10:
This is the best game ever. I love the moves.

Sam gave it a 9:
Great game, but not exactly stealthy. Other wise, the graphics are just as goregous as the windwakers and the gameplay rocks. Can't wait for 2.

Henri W. gave it a 9:
I love the mini-games in this title. They are so varied and entertaining. The only gripe I have about this game is the occasional slow-down. It happens the most in the larger Haiti levels.
