This third-person action/adventure game delivers the ultimate Jedi action experience as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi join forces in fierce battles and heroic lightsaber duels until one's lust for power and the other's devotion to duty leads to a final confrontation between good and evil. In the Star Wars: Episode III video game, players control all the Jedi abilities of both Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, including devastating Force powers and advanced lightsaber techniques involving robust combo attacks and defensive maneuvers. As Anakin, players unleash the power of the dark side in ruthless lightsaber and Force attacks. As Obi-Wan, players struggle to save the galaxy from darkness by focusing the power of the light side into swift and precise lightsaber attacks and using the Force to control enemy actions. I enjoyed every minute I was playing Episode III, even when I was dying at the light saber battle with General Grevious or Mace Windu for the 17th time.

The game can be completed in 5-6 hours, although finding all the secrets—which allow you to increase your health and force meters—can take considerably longer.

Smooth animation, a fantastic soundtrack and plenty of variety in the use of combat and force powers make this a game that's engaging and fun to play through.

Never before has the Jedi experience been this visceral and accessible at the same time, and Revenge of the Sith has something for hardcore fans and curious onlookers alike. The Force is strong with this one.

Cheat Code Central

It's not a bad game at all, but it can be quite frustrating on anything but the easy difficulty as often times you'll be surrounded by mountains of enemies and your force powers always seem a little shy of getting the job done until you're much further in the game.

The graphics are crisp and well defined, with everything remaining faithful to the source material. John Williams' scoring is simply some of the best orchestral work ever, and all of the signature Star Wars sound effects remain as amazing and unique as ever.

Like the movie itself, the game’s surprisingly good and full of decent action as you use Jedi skills in a barrage of lightsaber battles to win one for good or evil.

Pelit (Finland)

Entertaining but much too short. The camera angles are awful and the action itself is a little too hectic. Duels, however, are nicely done. [July 05]

Gamer's Hell

An above average action game that fans of the movie are sure to love.

The game is short and easy, so you can get to each movie sequence pretty quickly. That also means that, once you've seen the clips and desire good gameplay, you don't have anything to look forward to except more of the same.

The in-game dialogue is not provided by the original actors, but sound-alikes. Their voices are pretty close, but some, especially Anakin Skywalker's, can be very monotone.

Unless you’re a completist who simply has to own everything Star Wars, I cannot recommend Revenge of the Sith for a full purchase. The game can be completed in about 4 -5 hours, and replaying it really has little value.

Really one of those games that can be compared to a roller coaster in many ways. It has a lot of upsides and a lot of downsides, but in the end it just depends on whether you like roller coasters.

But the potential of a great movie-to-game translation is marred by sub-standard controls dictated by a lack of 3rd person perspective.

The game's a tad short for my taste, although if you're looking for pure action, RoTS is the way to go. [July 2005, p.79]

A very short game. You're best off making it a weekend rental and saving the rest of your money to go see the actual movie, if you haven't already.

The lightsaber dueling is ultimately too repetitive and easily exploited to be very fun for long, and each of the 16 missions (and subsequent bonus missions) don't take more than 10 to 20 minutes apiece to complete.

Worth Playing

It's obviously been slapped together from action sequences in the film to make a complimentary game and hopefully some easy cash, but on its own, it's less than stellar.

The repetitive nature harms the game quite a bit and as such it can only be recommended to Star Wars fans or a rental for the casual fans.

Revenge of the Sith certainly isn’t the disaster the Phantom Menace game is, but it lacks memorable moments, and has a few too many damning flaws to recommend a purchase.

Fortunately, the 1-on-1 fighting sequences are there to save it, but it would've been great if there were more of them and less of a focus on the average action sequences. If anything, it would've made the game last longer than the five hours it takes to beat it.

Without question, the only suitable home for this game is in a molten river on Mustafar right next to Anakin's legs and arm. [July 2005, p.117]

PSM Magazine

There's a multiplayer versus mode, but the combat system is so broken, it's barely worth it. [Aug 2005, p.78]

Too many levels center on mindless droid hacking. [Aug 2005, p.110]

Pelaaja (Finland)

As a movie licence and a Star Wars game, Revenge of the Sith is not too bad. Still, it’s a disappointment when compared to The Collective’s previous output. The Collective has done what can be done in the relatively short development time and limited freedom offered by the licence. [June 2005, p.60]

Unfortunately the offensive moves cannot stop the game from feeling repetitive. Shield door "puzzles" are recycled, while brief turret-blasting interludes are dull.

It's fun to run around the galaxy as a saber-flinging Jedi, cutting down droids by the score. But after a few minutes there's no point. It's too easy and extremely shallow when compared to other adventure games.

Edge Magazine

It’s a game that makes you desperately want to feel like a Jedi, arcing your lightsaber across the screen, ducking under attacks, parrying counters and going in for the kill, but the subtlety just isn’t there. [July 2005, p.94]

PSX Nation

A series of linear lightsaber swing-a-thons tied together by badly-edited clips from a yet-to-be-released movie and recycled John Williams music (with horrendous voice-acting to boot), Revenge of the Sith is the worst SW game since 1999's "The Phantom Menace" (ouch).

games(TM)

Quite simply, Revenge… is the worst kind of Star Wars game - one that looks good enough to appeal to impulsive fans, but ultimately fails to deliver by being a horribly derivative, stale and linear example of the genre it so lazily falls into. [July 2005, p.114]

Jared D. gave it a6:
It is not a "bad" game. The game is hard when you begin, but gets easier over time. Once you learn some of the advanced moves, you will find it easier and more fun. However, there are other, more fun, Star Wars games to play, like Lego Star Wars II.

Jim H. gave it an8:
This game is nowhere near as bad as the critics say. Never, and I mean NEVER has lightsaber fighting been this fun. Cool combos, a good deal of enviromental destruction, and 2-player duels give this a pretty good replay value. Uhm, the bad stuff. Wow. Some of the enemies are just... idk... the jetpack/flamethrower clones are just way way too hard to be another regular troop. By the end, you're gonna see them almost as much as a normal clone. Oh well. I give this a 7.5, but seeing as how Metacritic only has a 7-8 score, I round it up to an 8.

Alas U. gave it an8:
it was a pretty good game. i found not to be that easy like people say. and when people say they beat in 5 hours..too much time and too much knowledge of a game controller. i think if you like star wars buy it. if you don't then dont. i liked it. really great jedi experience and loved being able to be darth vader. in the versus one major flaw is that you can only have the alternate costume if you are fighting the same character and only the 2second controller can have the alternate costume,. (example Anakin's alternate costume is better then his normal) But besides that pretty good game. P.S. game nerds who when buys games the first day feel they have to beat as quickly as possible...dont play.

Magan Y. gave it a7:
I don't what to say, this game doesn't match the greatness that is Star Wars Episode III and there are some flaws but as a whole, It's pretty good.

Dewi E. gave it an8:
this game is too easy and dosent have enough multiplayer charectars and games. but apart from that its brilliant.

Klenza gave it a5:
Its ok for action but everything is just the same thing...You fight droids throw ur saber and use the force in every level its just action!....Where is the adventure, in the first Episode you had to find your way through Jar Jars home that was exciting and finding the parts when the ship broke down on that Planet and the pod racing..in this one theres nothing.

Ray B. gave it a2:
The game starts well but soon becomes very repetitive and boring. Once you have mastered your Jedi powers there is no fun left in the game as it is too easy to beat all opponents. The only plus point is two player versus mode, but again with the lack of characters to chose from this also loses it's appeal quite quickly. If you want an action game get Devil may cry 3, if you want a fun Star Wars game your best buying Lego: Star Wars.
