Hot Games

Although not as complex as "Tekken Tag," or as simple to play as "DOA2," Street Fighter EX3 is still a fighter, and one that can battle with the best of them on the PS2.

Game Fan

New characters and updated graphics that only the PS2 could offer, and on the other hand... well, terrible slowdown and sometimes unbalanced gameplay are just a few of the many flaws early adopters found themselves clamoring about.

74

GameSpot

EX3 may feel a bit rushed in some spots, but overall it's a fun and great-looking fighting game that won't disappoint longtime EX fans.

Gaming Maxx

Overall, this is definitely a decent 3D fighter, just it is too generic of a 3D fighter at times.

GamePro

Graphically, EX3 is mediocre (compared to "Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore" and "Tekken Tag Tournament"), with its unrealistic, blocky characters and sparkly effects.

CNET Gamecenter

A typical EX game: solid, a bit boring, and uninspired. It lacks the key elements--great graphics, tight gameplay, and personality in its game design--that give the 2D Street Fighter games their appeal.

67

Gaming Age

In strict gameplay terms, save for the multiple character options, Street Fighter EX 3 doesn't represent anything we haven't seen before.

Maxim Online

Unfortunately, the controls are still choppy compared with Dreamcast blockbuster "Soul Calibur," which defeats the purpose of splurging on a new PlayStation 2.

Aside from some rather brilliant lighting effects, which become apparent when pulling off special moves, SFEX3 looks like nothing more than a high-res original PlayStation game.

Putting a 3D face on a 2D game just doesn’t cut it.

Throwing a fireball at Ken is still as much fun as ever, and it does look better than any other Street Fighter EX game. It won’t be the best Street Fighter game you ever play, but it’ll be fun nonetheless.

With the tag combos, tag meteor combos, and dozens of special move-laden combos, there's plenty of depth here for fighting game fans.

PSX Nation

"Street Fighter EX3" has the awkward distinction of being the best-looking "EX" game in the series, but the worst-looking brawler in comparison to its competitors' robust engines.

IGN

A middle of the road fighter that lacks pizzazz and inspiration.

Spank!

It's obvious that this was a rushed attempt at getting some software ready for the PS2's launch and it's a shame.

Daily Radar

Is EX3 the worst fighter we've ever played? Absolutely not -- however, its mediocre fighting engine and uninspired visuals are yet another example of a once noble series gone sour.

GamerWeb Sony

The characters are stiff and look almost mechanical in their movement. The character response time isn't all the great either. Most of all, SFEX3 lacks any type of fun factor. I can't recommend this game to even the most die-hard SF fan.

This Game is Hot!!!!!! i wish they would make part 4 with Akuma and more moves with Bison2 and eRyu this Game is hot those who never played it u r missing the fun bro hottest fighting game i ever played.

David A. gave it a 7:
This game was definitely rushed to make it the first PS2 game ever. Gameplay is nowhere near as polished as the 2D SF games, some of the super moves look just silly. Graphics are very average for a 3D fighting game. The newer characters aren't really all that good, theres no endings for any of the characters either, unless you consider a few lines of text as a game ending. Sound is dissapointing too, as all the characters speak in Japanese. Could have been much better if more time was spent on it. Overall an above average fighting game. Not in the same league as other modern 3D fighting games and not as memorable as the classic 2D SF games.

David W. gave it a 10:
Well better than all the street fighter games before it.it will beat tekken tag any day.

This is the sweetest street fighter game ever.

Dirk S. gave it a 10:
This is just about the funnest fighting game I've ever played. There are over 30 characters and if you like embarassing your friends, some of the moves will make you laugh your a$$ off!
