The level of customization is simply astounding. In addition to the typical options like face, hair color, eye color and facial hair, players can change the structure of their cheek, chin and jaws. And not just the appearance, but the width, height and length too. [Oct 2003, p.84]
Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
Unlike last year's game, Tiger 2004's minor additions make more of a major difference than it would seem at first glance. [Oct 2003, p.124]
Deeko
With spot on control and more courses than you could have hoped for, fantastic options and great presentation purchasing this game is a no brainer for anyone with a love for video game golf.

Tiger just owns it in every category: graphics, unlockables, golfers, courses, modes, and everything else. This is hands-down the best golf game ever, and easily one of the best sports games in general. [Oct 2003, p.114]
Electronic Gaming Monthly
EA's improved everything in this game, from graphics to putting to new arcade modes that help pass the time. There's just no better golf game out there. [Oct 2003, p.136]
Next Level Gaming
With all of the new features added to Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004, it is by far the best golf game to date on any console. From addictive online play to the in-depth EA Sports Game Face mode, this game will have you coming back for more day after day.

Even if EA Sports had left every other aspect of the game identical to "Tiger Woods 2003," the staggering number of new, playable courses alone makes 2004 worthwhile.

The online mode which is exclusive to the PS2 version is absolutely fantastic. I couldn't gush enough about it. Buy a modem or broadband adapter and get online with this game. It's free and it rocks -- the replay value is through the roof if you go online.

More than anything, Tiger Woods is an addictive game. The immense single-player experience will have you staring at the set for hours, just trying to win more money, unlock more gear and establish yourself as a legend.

It has a lot going for it if you're really into golf, want to play new courses and fancy getting caught up in the whole 'being there' feeling that Game Face, the preponderance of pro shop kit, career sponsorship and online play.

EA needs to be commended for turning videogame golf into it's own sport, completely separate from the real thing...If you want the most advanced golf game available you'll want this one.
PSM Magazine
Game Face is the most comprehensive and powerful character creation tool found in a game, period...Our sole gripe is that we wish the game were a little more difficult. [Nov 2003, p.42]
PSX Nation
The licensed rap music has got to go for "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005," please! Other than this licensing snafu by EAs music department the 2004 edition of the prettiest, fun, complete (online play rules!) and user-friendly golf sim on the face of the planet is well worth the $50.

The mix of true physics, newbie approachability, gameplay depth, and even a sly sense of humor makes Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 thoroughly enjoyable.

Does both fun and realistic very well with below par results (in golfese, that's good). [Nov 2003, p.74]
All Game Guide
Hands down the most playable, enjoyable golf game released to date.

This is still the best choice for gamers wanting to batter a hard white ball around a park but anyone returning to the series will be disappointed with the slender changes.

From the moment DMX's "Party Up" plays in the background, you'll realize this is not your father's golf game. The action is fast, the commentary is rife with dry humor, and the desire to personalize your character is too good to pass up.

This relaxed, arcade-like approach makes for something that's not so much about simulation, but more emulation; letting you thwack the ball with all the verve of an expert, without the worry of any homework. Fun, then, and lots of it. [Nov 2003, p.107]
Eurogamer
Technically it's better than either of the previous two, which means it's better than any other golf game we've played...For those of us with Tiger pedigree though, the lack of online play and niggling flaws overshadow an otherwise generous update.

EA Sports has put considerable effort into improving this franchise by adding more game modes, an intuitive swing mechanism, online play, lifelike graphics, plus more depth, options and customizability. No other golf game is on par.

Imitating a swing with the analogue stick is still as satisfying as ever, and the balance between control and room for error is nigh-on perfect. However, it would have been nice to see a few more changes to keep the experience fresh. [Oct 2003, p.122]

Jesse M. gave it a 10:
This game is great from all the courses to designing your own character. The only thing i would like to see is more in depth club selection compared to the type of swing you chose, and less ea games suplies and more brand name clubs and clothes and other aperal and accesories. OVERALL WICKED!
Peter F. gave it a 10:
The most immersive golf video game ever produced.
Cory R. gave it a 10:
This game kicks ass i love just whooping everyone who tries to come close to me.
David E. gave it a 10:
This is the best golf game ever!!!
Joe B. gave it a 9:
My only complaint is the annoying trophy balls when I'm just shootin' a round with a buddy! Please give us the option of canning this nuisance.
Dave P. gave it a 9:
Love the game. Two complaints are that the World Tour and the PGA tour are way to easy and the music. Myself and my fiendsÂ’ find the music just plain bad but I guess this is up the individual. Love the commentary by David Feherty always makes me laugh. Player customization is great. Pro shop, buying brand name equipment and getting sponsors makes this game a lot of fun. I also enjoy the real time events this changes up the pace and the PGA calendar. Great Game!!! Over all the best PS2 game I have ever played.
Chuck 76 gave it a 9:
Not just the best golf game of all time but one of THE best games of all time. Customising your character is a joy and multiplayer is up there with Timesplitters 2. There are a few minor niggles but they're so minor they don't change the rating. I don't rate games so highly for nothing, this rules!
