Summary

In TimeSplitters Future Perfect, victory is in the hands of the player's past, present, and future self in a battle that stretches throughout time where humanity is on the brink of destruction from the malevolent TimeSplitters. Cortez--the tough-as-nails hero from previous installments--finds himself in a frantic race against time in a desperate bid to trace the origin of the TimeSplitters and save mankind. This third installment of the best-selling franchise will feature hundreds of hours of gameplay and an improved Story mode that ties all the missions together, immersing gamers in an epic adventure between the years of 1914 and 2401. Innovative "meet yourself" time travel gameplay lets players be their own ally by teaming up with past and future versions of themselves. The game also will allow two players to fight through the Story in Co-op mode, and features extensive Challenge and Arcade modes, and a Multiplayer mode that allows gamers to battle in 16-player death match online on the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system. In addition, gamers will experience an improved Map Maker feature allowing them to easily create and play their own maps and share them online. TimeSplitters Future Perfect promises to be one of the deepest arcade shooters on the console with hundreds of unlockables, more realistic environments, spectacular special effects, high quality animated cut scenes, an improved physics engine, smarter enemy AI, and much more. So say what you will about TimeSplitters being too arcadey or too cartoony or not serious enough—I'll just be over here having a hell of a time. Last I checked, that's what games were for.

Ok, so I get a little geeked out over TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. It’s easy to see why though, and besides who really wants to run around as a marine who can’t even tape a flashlight to the bottom of his shotgun?

I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Future Perfect is the best FPS ever. But I will tell you that if you give me a choice between this game and any other FPS (including either "Halo" game), I’ll choose to play Time Splitters.

An intensive 3D shooter with a twist or two. The plot does not make much sense, but it is entertaining. [Mar. 05]

The gameplay may be simplistic, but the multiplayer, challenge modes and mapmaking more than make up for it.

Every aspect of the game feels polished and ready to go, whether it's the single-player story, the online multiplayer, the numerous unlockables, or the custom mapmaker. This is one of those rare Jack-of-all-trades that has actually mastered them all.

It may not be the most original game in the world, but the fact that it offers a level of fun that is certainly unparalleled in the genre more than makes up for that.

IGN

On the one hand, it’s a flat, uninspired single-player campaign, with vehicles and base-level NPC co-op play holding it up with shoes strings. While on the other hand, the multiplayer game is substantial, creative, and wildly fun.

There are a ton of things to do, and completing the game 100% will take weeks, if not months. The online play is solid, but not spectacular.

Unadulterated run-'n-gun goodness. Future Perfect is packed with so many features that even the most jaded FPS fans will find something they like on offer; decimating everything or hosting a multiplayer kill-a-thon, this game can accommodate all comers.

It suffers from the single player experience coming up so short and the lack of really stepping forward in the series, but I won't complain because it's still nothing but a good time for FPS fans, complete with a heavy load of arsenal and just enough butt to kick.

What this game contains that is totally removed from everything else out there is a quirky, infectious, humorous character, one that seems to deeply reflect the personality of its makers. When you play it, you really sense a stamp of originality and zany flavor in its presentation and structure. [March 2005, p.48]

Almost exactly what we wanted it to be. Story mode and single-player antics are diverting enough but the game excels in multiplayer, offering fast-paced thrills that only the highlights of the "Unreal" series can really contest. [March 2005, p.122]

The mechanics are competent, but it is the characterisations, especially the wooden delivery of some lines, that let the game down. On the plus side, the ample options include a story mode, multiplayer clash modes and a mission designer to open up replay values.

Jay S gave it a9:
This game is awesome the mapmaking is better that the the 2nd game. it would be better if you could have a larger memory for each game. the choice of weapons is very large.

Nick T gave it a9:
This game is one of the best games I've ever played. It's a great FPS that has endless possibilities. The amount of scenario play you can put into this game is astounding. You want open warfare? Pit yourself against a bunch of marines in an arcade mach with a couple of soldiers on your side as well. You want to battle zombies? Make a level with AI zombies and give yourself a shotgun. The possibilities are nearly endless. IN other words, Go. Go now and buy this game. It's worth the 10 bucks or so you'll need to pay. It's so, so worth it.

George S gave it a10:
If you're a 1st person war type shooting game then this isn't the game for you. It's a si-fi and simply brilliant! The first level is hard but most timesplitters story mode number one always difficult. If you like other timeplitters than you'll love this.Me and my friend play it whenever I see him.

Krist N. gave it an8:
I'll get the negatives out the way first - This game can crash randomly, and this is very frustrating at times. Other than that, it's as near perfect as the PS2-Generation of console shooters can get. Single player, as shallow and tedious as it can become, holds rewards, making it worthwhile. Multiplayer is where this game shines though, and once you become proficient with the already simple-to-use (and essential) MapMaker tool, you'll be up for several nights with friends, holed-up in your newly created virtual house, with the doors locked, blowing away an endless stream of virus-infected bears!

Mike K. gave it a10:
This game provides endless hours of action and shootouts. What more could you want from a game? Where it lacks in graphics and story, it greatly makes up for in the multiplayer. What could possiby be more fun than shooting your zombie friend's head off, or fighting alongside him being chased by giant deer with miniguns! A must have for anyone with friends who enjoys either casual or hardcore shooting games.

Kevin B. gave it a10:
As a matter of fact, I'm listening to one of the songs from the TimeSpitters FP game as I write this. Whilest the graphics aren't as great as alot of other shooters out there, it's still manages to keep up with other shooters. May be a little too goofy for some gamers. This, as all timespitters games, has a funny, not serious attitude about 90% of the time. The story mode in this edition of the series is alright but the REAL treat with this game is the bonus stuff: 150 playable characters, 14 game modes to play with friends (if you got a multitap or something), not to mention that its online. Booyah. And 8 sprite cans, a bag of chips and about 32 different games that night, it was about 330 in the morning...ouch..this game will have you shooting monkeys and blowing up zombies for hours...no bull...

Anson G. gave it a10:
Never play Timesplitters before, I heard many people like to play this FPS game, so I buy it and see how nice this game was. Wow, this one is the most impressive and amazing FPS I ever played. The story was blast through of each level and those weapons are amazing. So did the multiplayer online, you can choose how many players bot you add or 2 players for each other. Also u can create your own map. The character was abit funny but quite nice. I really enjoyed this game very much. U guys must buy and try play this game. Its interesting and nice action FPS mode.
