A lot like "Raw Superstar Umaga": It's an absolute monster, with tons of power while simultaneously possessing impressive agility.

This is still the best grappling game that money can buy, but having said that there isn't really a lot of competition.

You can spend dozens of hours playing through the game’s various modes and match types, and that’s even before you start playing multiplayer.

Although the improvements made to this year’s entry will keep me hooked for months, I can’t quite call SDvsR 2007 the perfect wrestling experience. There are still flaws here and there that irk me, like Diva matches that feel far too automated and the difficulty balancing in some of the tougher game modes.

Even with these kinks, this is still undoubtedly the best WWE SmackDown game yet, and is well worth playing, even if you played the hell out of last years's game. [Holiday 2006, p.73]

All of the changes and new features were all for the better, and any wrestling fan will be happy with this game.

With many modes of play and a variety of many other options, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 defends its title as the most popular wrestling series on consoles very well.

One of the best show wrestling games around. The new control system is very nice, but you still can not break throws started by other players. A proper arcade-like blocking system would not hurt, either. [Dec 2006]

Not a must-buy for everyone, but definitely a stocking stuffer for those who love the series and can’t live without the latest in interactive wrestling entertainment.

What SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 improves isn't necessarily what the series actually needed to improve, but on its own merits, it's still a great wrestling game.

Think of SmackDown 2007 as the Ric Flair of videogames -- a wrestling great with enough titles and fond memories to keep its forward momentum for yet another, but aged to a point where we're questioning how much longer it can go.

A whole lot of fun, though, especially with some friends. The current generation of hardware isn’t dead yet; this is a great game to play as you wait for next year’s game on PS3.

Another bone of contention is your AI tag-team partner that can be totally oblivious to your situation as you’re getting the hit shicked out of you. It’s times like this you wish you could toggle between them with the push of a button.

The new controls merely paper over the same old flaws - but, ultimately, it's still compulsive fun. [Christmas 2006, p.84]

Flaws are plentiful and at times glaring, yet somehow, the game is so shamelessly addictive that once you actually play it, you can't be pulled away.

You can't fault the amount of matches and modes either - there's a ton of stuff in here including a sixman Money In The Bank mode, which really shows off just how much stuff can happen on screen at once.

While it's undeniable that the age of the engine is showing (the flaws of the counter-reversal system in comparison to other wrestling titles really shows itself during online multiplayer), it's still a solid game to play.

The game engine is certainly in need of a makeover, and this might be the last year THQ can offer what is more or less a slight update, but it's a fun game and something that will get more than a few hours play with some mates.

The new control scheme makes SvR 2007 much less of a button-masher as much of the grappling is now mapped to the right analog stick, although sometimes a combo button is needed for certain grapple follow-ups.

Carlos L. gave it a9:
This game is better than the older versions but has some problems. The biggest being that they have Umaga but not Jeff Hardy you re-dubted the next week or they don't have ECW on the roster or the lack of tag teams like the Spirit Squad or Paul London and Brian Kendrick. The controls though are spot on giving you a real good handle then the buttons that always felt awkward to me. but using the analong stick is fun. The new "environmental hotspots" which don't help all that muck in a match but are a pretty good help. The Money in The Bank match has been added is the hardest match to win and the Ladder and Tables match have gone some redesign. The Story Mode is probably the best single player experience but gives you an unfulfilled experience. The General Manger stinks so you can just skip that mode. But pretty much this game is the best in the series.

Justin D. gave it a9:
Yea I've been playing this game ever since it's come out, its an awesome game sorta confusing controls at first but once u get the hang of it its a peace of cake but u should make the controls back to square triangle x and o it was much better that way so well its still an really good game I rated a 9 since the controls are that confusing for me.

Zift K. gave it an8:
This game is another great game in the Smackdown! series. To any fan of the series, it's an inevitable disappointment. However, with a great analog grappling system, and a few other new things, you can look past these problems to enjoy yet another great game in this long running series.

Game Over gave it a5:
THis is the buggiest Smackdown game too date. The commentary has nothing to do with in ring action, and commentators voices don't match with who's actually commentating. The commentary is 100% of last yrs with a few extra lines thrown in. CAW, the graphics on preview characters are like igsaws Random pixels missing. Story mode is boring, and pointless you get screwed every month. and still win anyway. And the second yr is just a repeat of te first but you are the champ to start with. Post match the cutscenes show completely different results to what actually happened. YET your profile indicates the true result? Pretty Good selection of characters. Referee always and I mean always get's in the road. CPU tag partners are uselss as last yr's Ladder matches, the CPU only needs to grab the belt for the final few seconds, as If you go up and wrestle it down the CPU throws you off the aldder pretty easy and then just have to do the final few seconds (not start from scratch) Challenge Mode - You have the Superstar Challenges unlocked, but only 4 of the 16 Legend ones and no indication how to get the rest unlocked. PPV mode, you have to set Title Matches as title matches with no contestants or stipulations until you save the PPV and go to play it, then you have to set the matches one at a time. (SO DUMB!) There are countless other issues with this game, It's obviously stuffed and we should get refunds. I purchaesd it pre-order for $70(Aus) and a week later it dropped to $50 because it's so shit THQ/Jakks must go to the same Production School as EA/Dice. Release games wrought with bugs that are either never tested or released anyway I loved SVR til this one. Now i'm just Pissed Off.

James S. gave it a10:
Top game allthogh the controls are a bit hard 2 get used to after playin the other wwe games in da series.
