Giant Bomb

It looks great, has fun characters, a load of interesting weaponry, and works nicely whether you’re playing alone or with a squad. The campaign lasts long enough to feel fulfilling, and the multiplayer kept me coming back once that was complete.

The extreme polish evident in the final product makes it all worthwhile. Both single- and multiplayer shine - at long last redeeming DICE for the crappy bot-fests offline players had to endure in previous games in the series. [July 2008, p.82]

It's a really, really good shooter - although it's a shame there's only one multiplayer mode - and we have no hesitation in recommending it for anyone remotely interested in the genre. Great stuff.

It’s not as often as we’d like that a shooter comes along in which can you plough through the single player and then spend many more hours in the multiplayer without feeling like you’ve seen and done it all before. Battlefield: Bad Company is definitely one of those games, and the tongue-in-cheek tone and dialogue of the game is perfectly matched to the intense and chaotic action.

It's not the best-looking game, it's clunky in its controls, but it delivers where it counts with a fun experience that will keep you entertained through to its conclusion. [Aug 2008, p.70]

Gameplanet

It may lack the finesse in the single-player that some similar titles have, but it does a great job of making you feel the part as you roll into combat with guns blazing, your squad hooting and bellowing behind you. Add to this the multiplayer which is well rounded and realistic, yet big on the fun, and you have a great experience which could ultimately have you playing for months and months.

Dynamic action, tons of features, and highly-detailed visuals come together for the first significant step forward of console first-person shooters since "Halo: Combat Evolved." While there are a few minor quibbles, you're assured to become addicted to Bad Company's twitch gameplay.

Battlefield: Bad Company is an attempt to lure the Battlefield-audience to the consoles, and it's one fine attempt. The qualitative and humorous single player campaign is a fun experience that introduces the player to the gameplay in a great way. The real blockbuster feature here is the online mode which is jam packed with great features and modes, all of which are greatly enhanced by the destructible environments. All in all, this is one great experience.

Certainly the ability to punch a hole through the wall of a building to get access to the Ruski vermin camping inside is a great step forward for the acclaimed series as it looks to motor its dominance from PCs onto consoles. The world destruction on show is suitably ‘next-geny’ and thoroughly enjoyable, there’s no doubt. But despite developer Digital Illusions spirited attempts, Bad Company doesn’t quite reach the rarely tapped heights of dual-radness, and is just a really good game.

Maxi Consolas (Portugal)

A new incursion of the Battlefield franchise on the console turf that manages to surprise us, mainly because of the consistent solo campaign. Even if it doesn’t offer the same intensity and cinematic flair as Call of Duty 4 (although it has an excellent destruction engine). And, of course, as far as online is concerned, Bad Company doesn’t disappoint. [July 2008]

Battlefield: Bad Company is the most enthralling online shooter for consoles to date, and a good role model for many of its PC brethren. With a thumping sound and sudden cloud of dust, grenades erase whole sections of houses. Bullets, however, stop dead in the thinnest wood slat. But what Bad Company needs isn't a trip to a real-life firing range -- it's its inflexible A.I. that requires the lessons.

Iain F. gave it a7:
Although I haven't experienced the multiplayer to an exten where I am in the position to give a fair verdict, what I had played of the multiplayer however was truely fun, even if there are only two game modes. The characters are okay, and the storyline a little unimaginative, with a screenplay leaving alot to be desired, but it's still fun. The destructibility is a novel and fun idea and it actually becomes part of your tactics once you've grown accustomed to it. This game isn't a must-buy, but players should definitely consider at least renting it. COD4 it is not, but it's still a heck of a blast!

Michael S. gave it a9:
A very Very good FPS that needs to be praised for taking a fun and comedic approach not yet seen. After playing both versions extensively, I've got to admitt that the PS3 version runs smoother, and looks better (but barely). Despite what many claim though, BC does not touch COD4 in any respect... not even close. That's one of the best shooters ever made; This is just a lot of fun.

Christopher W. gave it an8:
Bsttlefield: Bad Company is a very fun game. The single player mode isn't perfect, but it should be good enough for most first person shooter fans, with interesting( and funny) character design, large open world maps, amazing enviormental destruction and a lot more explosions than you would expect, the single player alone is enough, but on top of it there is a very adicting( and hard) online multiplayer that is worth spending an hour hocking your PS3 or 360 up to the internet.Overall: 8.5 of 10 seems about right.

Mason A. gave it a10:
Singleplayer is somewhat short, but is very entertaining. The sound environment is astounding and brings the game more realism than most think. Multiplayer is extremely addictive and intense and worth enduring some small lag and connection issues that you ussually get with any EA multiplayer game. Truly an "all around great FPS"

Matt M. gave it a6:
Ok heres the deal. I would not suggest this game to a friend. I would MAYBE suggest it as a rent, but not a purchase(i made that mistake). This game got good reviews from critics, but there not me. I am a hardcore call of duty player and its just natural that i compare the two. I have noticed that it is just a stupid knockoff. The even copy the challenges, they call the trophies. The online is also bout as deep as a kiddie pool. There are no weapon customization at all. Now lets move on to the campaign. Its probably the only reason i didn't give it a 3. Though the game lacks the humor that the hype promised, it is still a fun ride. I think they could have made more unlocks available with the gold concept. My favorite part of this game is the destructible environments. A concept that i hope will find a new home on the call of duty franchise. After taking another look at this game i still give it a 6 out of 10. I hope that dice and EA will hopefully fix these problems in the next installment may i might rent it. And come on they had such a good chance to make an action packed hilarious game and the blew it!

Dan gave it a5:
Game is ok, but the online gaming is shocking and only getting worse. Ea really needs to sort this out and quick before people go back to call of duty.

Julian R. gave it a9:
Verry good game I´m playing it every day.
