Giant Bomb
It looks great, has fun characters, a load of interesting weaponry, and works nicely whether you’re playing alone or with a squad. The campaign lasts long enough to feel fulfilling, and the multiplayer kept me coming back once that was complete.

The extreme polish evident in the final product makes it all worthwhile. Both single- and multiplayer shine - at long last redeeming DICE for the crappy bot-fests offline players had to endure in previous games in the series. [July 2008, p.82]

The game delivers a level of destruction that will make grown men giggle like a child and it is this level of interactivity that makes it special.

It's a really, really good shooter - although it's a shame there's only one multiplayer mode - and we have no hesitation in recommending it for anyone remotely interested in the genre. Great stuff.

It’s not as often as we’d like that a shooter comes along in which can you plough through the single player and then spend many more hours in the multiplayer without feeling like you’ve seen and done it all before. Battlefield: Bad Company is definitely one of those games, and the tongue-in-cheek tone and dialogue of the game is perfectly matched to the intense and chaotic action.

It's not the best-looking game, it's clunky in its controls, but it delivers where it counts with a fun experience that will keep you entertained through to its conclusion. [Aug 2008, p.70]
Gameplanet
It may lack the finesse in the single-player that some similar titles have, but it does a great job of making you feel the part as you roll into combat with guns blazing, your squad hooting and bellowing behind you. Add to this the multiplayer which is well rounded and realistic, yet big on the fun, and you have a great experience which could ultimately have you playing for months and months.

Dynamic action, tons of features, and highly-detailed visuals come together for the first significant step forward of console first-person shooters since "Halo: Combat Evolved." While there are a few minor quibbles, you're assured to become addicted to Bad Company's twitch gameplay.

One could easily say that Bad Company expands the genre itself with its combination of great story, destructible environment and surprisingly deep single-mode multiplayer.

Seeing as how most military first-person shooters take themselves dead seriously, it's refreshing to see Battlefield: Bad Company's dark sense of humor.

The improvements made to the Battlefield formula have changed the way future Battlefield games will be judged. Right now, the only company to be with is Bad Company.

The PS3 version of Battlefield: Bad Company may not be the best looking game on the console but it is very good with a fantastic audio.

Battlefield: Bad Company is an attempt to lure the Battlefield-audience to the consoles, and it's one fine attempt. The qualitative and humorous single player campaign is a fun experience that introduces the player to the gameplay in a great way. The real blockbuster feature here is the online mode which is jam packed with great features and modes, all of which are greatly enhanced by the destructible environments. All in all, this is one great experience.

This is really a game to check out if your a fan of the genre or series as it is by far the best Battlefield game to grace the consoles yet.

In conclusion, Battlefield Bad Company is a breath of fresh for 2008 that takes the genre to the next stage and gives the gamer a truly entertaining first person shooter experience with that touch of squad based mechanics.

Definitely one of my favorite games of the year. It's not entirely perfect, but it is thoroughly enjoyable. If you've found yourself stuck in a gaming rut, I'd suggest combating it with a little levity and a great story.

An entertaining and well-designed game experience that keeps the action flowing. The Frostbite engine ramps up the strategic elements and the game’s story arc does a nice job of tying all game elements together.

A load of fun. The friendly nature of the single player campaign will keep you coming back for more and more on different difficulties. And the multiplayer game does not need any further introduction, it’s what this series overall have been all about.

Battlefield: Bad Company is, in my opinion, the best console shooter that has been released so far this year.

The BF series finally gets some decent single-player attention, and the fantastic results make us wonder why DICE didn't try it out before.

There are plenty of flaws that FPS gurus will be able to nitpick about, but Bad Company delivers a fun-filled single-player campaign with a multiplayer component that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in our industry.

Certainly the ability to punch a hole through the wall of a building to get access to the Ruski vermin camping inside is a great step forward for the acclaimed series as it looks to motor its dominance from PCs onto consoles. The world destruction on show is suitably ‘next-geny’ and thoroughly enjoyable, there’s no doubt. But despite developer Digital Illusions spirited attempts, Bad Company doesn’t quite reach the rarely tapped heights of dual-radness, and is just a really good game.

In spite of its sluggish opening, Battlefield: Bad Company goes on to produce one of the most entertaining first-person shooters since last year’s "Call of Duty 4."

The writing is good, the characters are great, and the destructible environment actually plays an integral role in the game, rather than just serving as a claim to place on a sticker to move copies at Wal-Mart.

The well designed campaign is undeniably a good thing and the online format is solid as ever.

A new incursion of the Battlefield franchise on the console turf that manages to surprise us, mainly because of the consistent solo campaign. Even if it doesn’t offer the same intensity and cinematic flair as Call of Duty 4 (although it has an excellent destruction engine). And, of course, as far as online is concerned, Bad Company doesn’t disappoint. [July 2008]
IC-Games
Overall the open sandbox style of gameplay and allowing you the non-linear gameplay to complete the mission in your own way works very well.

Solid gameplay aside, strong characters coupled with occasional whiffs of Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now ultimately help Bad Company transcend its lineage.

Battlefield: Bad Company may not be the award winner that COD 4 was, but it is damn near as entertaining and a lot easier to get into. This is a war game for the casual gamer who just wants to have fun blowing stuff up.

Despite a few nags in the single player campaign, Battlefield:Bad Company represents one of the best multiplayer shooters on the market.

DICE's newest take on the virtual battlefield does a lot of things right, despite firing a few blanks along the way, such as the lack of a co-op mode in the main campaign.

The levels are massive - although there are only seven of them - and the sense of being in a conflict can only currently be matched by CoD4.

It might not feature a class based objective system like "Quake Wars," but it’s sure a damn better multiplayer experience than that port.

Bad Company blasts the dust off of the Battlefield series with an excellent campaign. The game could be more extensive and the AI could be a little more sophisticated.

Battlefield: Bad Company is the most enthralling online shooter for consoles to date, and a good role model for many of its PC brethren. While it’s hardly the best multiplayer offering in the Battlefield series, it will be remembered not for the weak single-player campaign or annoying details, but for destructive battles and great sense of humor.

Gold Rush truly is a brilliantly put-together game mode, but it really is the only bit worth buying Battlefield: Bad Company for. The single-player campaign tries hard to please, but ultimately still feels mostly pointless.

With a thumping sound and sudden cloud of dust, grenades erase whole sections of houses. Bullets, however, stop dead in the thinnest wood slat. But what Bad Company needs isn't a trip to a real-life firing range -- it's its inflexible A.I. that requires the lessons.

It might not re-invent the wheel or “wow” you, but it’s consistently worthwhile.

In the end, Battlefield: Bad Company is by no means a bad first-person shooter, but it's also far from the best. Unfortunately, as it is, it's more likely to get lost in the sea of shooters that already line the shelves.

Ole Tveter gave it a4:
You actually have to hold the L3 button down to run, not just press it down once, like in Call Of Duty. I dont like the aiming, its inacurate. The singelplayer is repeative, no story, no humor, and little fun.
Will P gave it a10:
Probably one of the most innovative, creative, and tactic-inspiring games I've played. Duly surpasses Call of Duty 4 by a mile in my book. Descructible environment, gameplay that is never the same twice, and a solid choise of maps makes sure you're playing this game for months. I thought the whole "EA Account" thing was kind of stupid at first, and then I realized how deep the Battlefield experience is. Definately one of the best games I've ever played (sorry COD4, you've been replaced) and I'm definately looking forward to the next one. If you've gotten bored of the repetitiveness of COD4 and are looking for something more interactive, this game will eat months of your life away. Play at your own risk.
Erkut I gave it a9:
I'm not going to talk about single player because this game is a "Battlefield" I got the PS3 version about 5 mounths ago and i didnt like it at all i thought its a piece of crap because if you are a rookie to this game you are finishing the game like 3 kills and generally more than 15 deaths and its annoying. You will be get killed tons of times from your back. Its a little bit hard game i have more than 2 Kill/Death ratio in CoD 4 and Killzone 2 but in BC my ratio is 1. After all when you get used to the game here the fun begins its a really addicting game after you learn how to play how to hide in trees or streets or buildings with your specialist and sneak to the tanks place C4 and blow them or sneak to the people and backstab them with your knife and collect their dog tags etc etc. btw i "just talked about how to use specialist class ;) My last words this game gives you something different from other shooters on consoles huge maps is the reason i think it gives you unlimited sniping hiding sneaking and flanking enemy positions that even Killzone cant give. Btw blowing up everything and opening your self door in building is really fun too. So this not the most serious shooter on consoles but its becoming one of the most addicting and enjoyable game when you get used to it. If you asked me my rating 3-4 mounts ago i would say 3 but now i'm giving9 to it.
Valéry AMIOT gave it a9:
Coming from the PC world, I've always been a fan of FPS games, I spent so many nights fighting at Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory - the most addictive FPS game I've ever played. I also spent some time at CoD 2 and 4 - not coming that close to E.T. in my opinion in terms of addiction, later gave a try to BF2 but I didn't buy it in the end because of its numerous bugs. For me, playing FPS games on console has always been impossible because of the lack of a mouse + keyboard... until BF Bad Company! I don't know why but for the first time I can play normally with a pad :-) Simply said, this is a great FPS. The solo is appealing, with a lot of humour, maybe a little too short, but fun anyway. Now I spend a lot of time at the multi and I was pleased to discover the Gold Rush mode which makes me think of the old E.T. gaming principle I loved so much : objectives to fulfil in a limited amount of time or respawns. Sure BF:BC isn't the most beautiful FPS out there - let's wait for BF:BC2 - but it's still good looking and fights are really full of pace, may it be in Gold Rush or Conquest mode. Music tracks are also great, which is a plus. Do some people prefer CoD4? Alright, I just consider it to be a question of personal taste. Give BF:BC a try, you may also love it.
Fat Sergeant gave it a9:
Single player of the game definitely sucks. But it can be excused for BF's brilliant multiplayer. Maps are extremely well made, gold rush mode is amazing, each specialist (assault, recon, demolition etc.) has their own strength and weaknesses, so only good team work leads to success. Multiplayer has a lot of rewards which are pleasant to achieve. I have only one complaint: I have gold edition which has some weapons unlocked from the beginning, what is unfair to people who bought standard (and not cheap at all) version of the game. Another big complaint: there is no blood in the game at all! Pity :-)
Iain F. gave it a7:
Although I haven't experienced the multiplayer to an exten where I am in the position to give a fair verdict, what I had played of the multiplayer however was truely fun, even if there are only two game modes. The characters are okay, and the storyline a little unimaginative, with a screenplay leaving alot to be desired, but it's still fun. The destructibility is a novel and fun idea and it actually becomes part of your tactics once you've grown accustomed to it. This game isn't a must-buy, but players should definitely consider at least renting it. COD4 it is not, but it's still a heck of a blast!
Michael S. gave it a9:
A very Very good FPS that needs to be praised for taking a fun and comedic approach not yet seen. After playing both versions extensively, I've got to admitt that the PS3 version runs smoother, and looks better (but barely). Despite what many claim though, BC does not touch COD4 in any respect... not even close. That's one of the best shooters ever made; This is just a lot of fun.
