Burn Zombie Burn is a superb title, which is very challenging and at the same time a whole lot of fun. Anyone looking for a fun and addictive game to play on PSN will not go wrong with this.

This game is what a zombie-killer game should be. It offered all the creativity, hilarity, and destruction any gamer could ask for and then some.

Even with the plethora of weapons, zombie types, game modes, and levels to choose from, the game can get stale after awhile.

The whole point of this carnage, of course, is to survive as long as possible and rack up enough points to dominate your leaderboard of choice. It’s as old-school a premise as any game can have, but at least Burn Zombie Burn’s comedy weapons make the whole thing jolly god fun as a bonus.

Doublesix has done a hell of a job in creating a simple, attractive, immensely rewarding (and ridiculously challenging game if the high score goals are any indication) little shooter that deserves more than a passing look.

IGN

A lot better than I first assumed it would be. There's quite a bit of depth to the game's mechanics, and the risk/reward setups that percolate through all the different aspects of zombie squashin' mean no two tries on a level will play out exactly the same.

So yeah, this is a good time all around. The only thing better than killing the hell out of a few thousand undead is doing it with friends. Well, unless you can do it for dirt cheap. Which you can. Fancy that.

A quite good robotronesque shoot ’em up. The score system is quite interesting. [Aug 2009]

Burn Zombie Bun isn't big and it isn't clever, but this sums up the whole concept of a game centred around a zombie apocalypse and the developer knows it.

Worth Playing

It offers gameplay that requires some strategy, and there's enough difficulty in unlocking everything that there's plenty of reason to go back and keep aiming for high scores.

Giant Bomb

Burn Zombie Burn isn't for people looking for a casual action game; if you can't hang with the demands of something like Geometry Wars, this one will probably stress you out to no end. But if you enjoy getting a grip on fairly complicated mechanics and juggling them as fast as you can while you watch your scores race ever higher, there's a lot of depth in this one.

It doesn’t take much in the way of brainpower, but that’s good: it’s the perfect complement to games like echochrome and Cuboid. Light ‘em up, chop ‘em up, shoot ‘em up; whatever’s up your alley. We promise you’ll have a blast.

The non-twin-stick controls won't be for everyone, but once you've got to grips with the system Doublesix has created there's no end of fun to be found here. With enough depth to keep you coming back for weeks, if not months down the line, high score junkies won't be disappointed.

If you like "Buffy," retro shooters "Smash TV" and "Robotron" and have a soft spot for "Monster Madness" you'll love this...Chuck in offline co-op, fun bonus challenges, and neat rewards that change the look of the game to comic-strip, sketchbook and so on, and Burn Zombie Burn is great value. Console Monster

The risk-reward nature of the gameplay in Burn Zombie Burn is enough to make the player return for more, if not the adrenaline inducing intensity. Whilst the task may, on the face of it, look repetitive, it never feels tired or boring to play.

Even if you're a bit burnt out on zombie related games at this point, at least BZB doesn't take itself all that seriously, and it's something that can be played and enjoyed in short bursts, which is exactly what I like to see out of these digital titles.

Pandering to the shmup and zombie crowds, there is enough genuinely good game to win a following. Beyond torching the undead, however, there isn't anything truly remarkable in the title. Despite the varying modes and simulated goals, the underlying objectives don't change, which manages to make zombie fires downright pedestrian.

The trouble is, this gets old very fast. [Jan 2009, p.104]

Edge Magazine

Burn, Zombie, Burn’s serving of arcade chaos is instantly gratifying, if a tad trivial, and its nods to deadsploitation flicks should tickle those not yet tiring of Crypt Keeper chic. [Feb 2009, p.97]

Jon S gave it a9:
Oddly addictive, but then again maybe it just does a great job of bringing back classic shooter action without becoming overwhelmingly difficult or complicated, and not reverting to brainless blasting. I'm still trying to figure out how to further maximize scoring capability, as my scores and medals would suggest there's still much room for improvement. The points and earnings will keep you playing for more. It's a particular blast in two player mode, only because it's fun to share the action - the game itself doesn't get a major gameplay shift from multiplayer mode. It's a blast and a welcome bargain. Bang-per-buck alone was worth an extra point.

Alex U gave it a9:
Very very addicting. Lots of cool gameplay elements. If you love killing shit non stop and don't get tried of it you'll like it. If you like top down shooters like geometry wars or robotron you'll like it. Co-op is fun too if you have someone you'd like to play with. No online support if you were wondering. Lots of content will keep you busy for a while.

Christian N gave it a9:
This is an awesome game. I played it for 2 straight. The stages are hard to unlock but well worth the effort. Multiplayer is a welcome addition and is incredibly fun.
