Summary

[Playstation Network] Developed by Tarsier Studios, Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic is a PS3 exclusive party-fighting game based on the original 2005 title, Rag Doll Kung Fu, created by Mark Healy (co-founder of Media Molecule). A fast-paced combat game with an imaginative look and feel, Ragdoll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic focuses on fun with exaggerated ragdoll physics action and charming HD visuals. Featuring accessible and intuitive controls, novice players can orchestrate impressive attacks with ninja-like precision, while offering hardcore players an intense combat system, use-of-weapons and strategy. Success depends on mastering basic Kung Fu moves while sharpening their acrobatic skills to swing off platforms and somersault through the air. This action builds up Chi Power, which can be conjured to perform spectacular SIXAXIS wireless controller-triggered special attack moves and combat sequences. Players can even taunt their opponents with the Free Pose system, ensuring the battle is infused with lighthearted fun. Perfect for any social occasion, Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic offers frantic multiplayer action for up to four players locally. [SCEA]

It’s engaging, unique, humorous and hugely polished, and earns its place as one of the top original titles on PSN with ease.

Single player gets old after about an 30 to 40 minutes a but with friends, this game is unstoppable. The multiplayer modes really shine and cause so much laughter that everyone wanted to get in a turn just to see what was so funny. The lack of online multiplayer is a disappointment but for a budget title it is understandable and acceptable. You are in for the time of your life when you have friends to play along. It’s value far surpasses its meager cost.

At a $9.99 price point it feels like you're definitely getting a solid game, even if it's missing the online mode that I was hoping to see, and if there's DLC support for the game in the future, then it's a pretty good starting point for the game in general.

RagDoll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic is a nice game that can give players hours of carefree fun, but only in multiplayer mode. Fists of Plastic is an innovative beat 'em up, with gamplay good both for novice and hardcore players. Recommended if you love innovation, originality and to play with your friends.

Immediate and very entertaining, Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic is the classic game to play with a bunch of friends on the sofa, with a well devised combat system that fits perfectly the Sixaxis controller. Unfortunately there's no online competitive mode and after a few hours is easy to feel the lack of more various attacks.

Ragdoll Kung Fu: fists of Plastic can be a good game, still having his problems. The Single player “campaign” is too short, and there is no online mode. Considering this, acquire this game only if you want some minutes of pure fun or, maybe, if you have always your house full of friends.

Rag Doll Kung-Fu: Fists of Plastic is a disappointment in almost every sense of the word. It looks awesome, it plays awesome and yet it feels like a tech-demo and not like a game you just spent 10 bucks on.

Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic is a fun little Super Smash Bros clone that is well worth downloading if you feel like beating up your friends. What it lacks in online functionality it makes up for in variation and fun gameplay. It may be a bit boring if you play alone, but it's fun when three of your pals are around.

It is gimmicky, to be sure, but Fists of Plastic is entertaining and at $10 is a fair price for well done kitsch. Moreover, the simplified control scheme means that in spite of the drunk monkey fighting everyone fights more or less like the same drunk monkey.

Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic is by no means a bad game. Some concessions had to be made to make it work on the PS3, but for the most part it's the sort of game that's better on a console to begin with.

Rag doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic improves on its forebear in some areas but it also falls short in many others. The promised online multiplayer is nowhere to be seen. With a poor and short single player, only the offline multiplayer, funny with three friends, has some interest... and his curious graphic style too.

Rag Doll Kung Fu is fun to play with when you got some friends over, but besides that the game doesn't do anything special. The movements are funny, just like the cheesy Kung Fu-jokes. In the end Rag Doll Kung Fu is a shallow and chaotic fighting game, that has neither a decent multiplayer nor an interesting single player mode.

Eurogamer

It's clear that the team is trying to provide an accessible, fast-paced scrap-'em-up that can be enjoyed by all the family, not just autistic puppeteers. In that sense, the game's a modest success, offering a shallow but sometimes riotous playpen for up to four players to scrap away in visually interesting ways. But the slightness of the package means that this polished after-pub game will provide some short-term laughs but only minimal long-term nourishment.

Shamefully, Fists of Plastic won’t have you reliving your childhood memories for long, as the tiresome challenges and lack of online execution will have you beating yourself up quicker than you can fling your joypad across the room with dragon-punch shaped irritation.

Val C. gave it a7:
Harmless fun for a temporarily free game. Kind of un-rag doll like physics, but what can you do?

tyler F gave it a9:
This game is only TEN DOLLARS! If you have 3-4 people playing this game gets INSANE! Its the most fun I've had playing a multiplayer game since mario tennis on n64. I have no clue what the "professional critics" are talking about saying it isnt fun.

Craig M gave it a7:
Ragdoll Kung Fu, is a very interesting game. The graphics are slick, there is some humor here, and the multiplayer modes are a blast. My main complaints are this, no online play, can be very repetive on certain challenges, and the motion controls are almost uncalled for but mix things up a bit. For the $10 price, its truly depends. If you have someone else to play with, it really is worth it. If you don't, then...I would think very hard before purchasing.

phinn gave it a9:
Downloaded this game on PSN for FREE (this week only) and I must say its fantastic. The reviews were REALLY harsh on the game because of almost no single player. But the multiplayer action is like that of Super Smash Brothers but its FREE with better graphics. There are trophies too, and although this game is boring alone, remember its a party game, and it does this very well.

Steven T gave it a10:
This game is just pure joy, I haven't had such a blast with four friends since micro machines. The "professional" reviewers seem to forget that this is a $10 downloadable game and bashes it for not having online when the truth is that this game is THE bang for the buck -Infinitively more so than a movie ticket at the same price. It´s super polished as well as balanced. If one word could describe it, it would be FUN. Get it, and as long as you have friends you won't regret it.

Kris W gave it a9:
Don't let the critics' scores deter you on this one. This is a great joy to play and absolutely worth $10. Now if you are one of those gamers that just can't forgive a game for not having online anymore, then maybe you could find something elsewhere, but if you 1 player fighting against good AI and have friends that get a kick out of beating each other up, then this game will not disappoint. There are no balance issues here as everyone has the same abilities, but it takes a lot of skill to use them with consistency. This game is a breathe of fresh air in the PSN Download market.

Jean S gave it a7:
Well despite the mainstream reviews I still vote this one a good game to get. It is the Sony answer to Smash Brothers, minus all the options and endless gameplay and of course online. The rumors of patching online are ramped, but no evidence. The game is simple enough for anyone to play, but can get very technical if you want. Combos and special moves are pretty good! Me likey!
