Gaming Age
A fantastic title on the PSN, and one that nobody should overlook. It'll easily appeal to all players, and manages to turn a pretty stale formula on it's ear without really tossing a great deal of new play mechanics your way.

Quite simply one of the best games on the PS3. Every PS3 owner needs this game in their collection.

Shatter is a fiendishly well-crafted game available from the Playstation Store for a little under ten bucks where you spend hours smashing blocks and absorbing vast amounts of neurologically-stimulating graphical flair and ambience.

For eight dollars, you simply can't do any better than Shatter. It, in all honesty, is about as perfect a game as you'll see anywhere.

A delight from beginning to end...Shatter stands right up there with Breakout and Arkanoid as one of (if not the) best brick-breaking games ever made.

For the cost and time involved (it won’t take more than a few minutes to download), Shatter is an absolute must-buy. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

Shatter adds a lot of flavor to a traditional block breaker game. With definite influence from Geometry Wars and other HD remakes, Shatter is a must buy for almost anyone.

Shatter is a wonderfully addictive title which improves on the formula set out by games such as Breakout in every way. If you buy this title you certainly wont regret it.

It's not very long, it's not very hard, but the new clever game mechanics and awesome retro inspired music soundtrack adds an incredible amount of fun to Shatter - The greatest Breakout-style game created so far!

Good, well-priced DLC support can help extend the game’s life and appeal, so Shatter is a good leaderboard competition game with friends for now much like Super Stardust HD and Geometry Wars before it.

For a sub-10 dollar game ($7.99 USD), Shatter is totally worth your cash and time. It is beautiful, unique, and most of all fun.

The best fiver you'll ever spend on PSN. [Issue#183, p.83]
My Gamer
For a price of $7.99, this download-only title provides an entertaining, but short, gameplay experience. The few hours that you will spend with this game, however, will definitely be entertaining.

Taken as a whole, Shatter combines well-thought-out gameplay with a highly polished and immersive aesthetic. Only a particular type of person need apply, perhaps, but if you’re into Geometry Wars or other score-based titles, Shatter should keep you satisfied.

For those that dig Shatter's depth and style, the rabbit hole goes pretty deep: it offers plenty of strategy with its vacuum system, and the variety of levels and smooth graphics, sound and music make for a great value for many gamers at only $7.99 on PSN.

It is a simple game, and the news won’t make you redesign the whole idea of destroying blocks, but as a whole Shatter becomes a pleasant surprise.

I could mention the razor-sharp graphics, cleanly minimalist design and absolutely phenomenal soundtrack, but there's really no point... Shatter is easily one of the best offerings available on the PSNetwork even without taking any of those things into account.

Take old Arcanoid put it in hi-res graphics make sophisticated improvements to the game mechanics and you got Shatter! Relax and enjoy there should be a byline to this game. [Sept 2009]

This is right up there along side Trash Panic as the best the Store currently has to offer in the sub five quid range. [Oct 2009, p.121]
Eurogamer
Shatter is an engrossing, smart, beautifully conceived and executed arcade game, but it doesn't quite have the score-racking purity of purpose that makes a Geometry Wars, Pac-Man CE or Out Run Online Arcade so endlessly compelling. Once you've beaten it, which won't take long, you'll move on - but it's a blissful spell while it lasts, an absolute steal at £4.79.

Shatter is best-suited to people who have a friends list full of scoreboard fiends. That's what'll bring replay value to a game that's only going to take you a couple of hours to see in its entirety. But even if you're not that type of player, Shatter still has enough style and action in it to be worth checking out.

Arkanoid is finally superseded as the best Breakout clone around in this enjoyable retro update.

It has a perfect price point at just £4.79/$5.99, and represents a worthy successor to Super Stardust HD as possibly the most addictive game on PSN.

Another great PSN title. [Oct 2009, p.83]

It's a fine interpretation of the old brick-breaker style, and it should keep you entertained, even if it's only once or twice.

Mio K gave it a7:
This game has nice visuals, style, and music. The block physics and suck/blow mechanic are unique and really distinguish this game from the other Breakout clones out there. Some boss battles are fun and can be challenging. However this is still a Breakout clone at heart. The improvements might not last very long to keep you from getting bored playing this genre.
Onlineatron cnewby36000 gave it an8:
Gorgeous to look at and challenging enough to keep you coming back for more. This Arkanoid style arcade game injects fresh life into the classic block-breaking formula. The 90-minute long original soundtrack is a joy to listen to whilst destroying bricks in vertical, horizontal and even circular arenas. For such a low price 'Shatter' is a must buy for those looking to relive classic nostalgia combined with all the modern trappings.
Thomas B gave it a9:
A nice twist on the blockbreaker genre, it's fun and, at times, challenging. The Soundtrack is electronic enthused and matches the game perfectly, it's a bargain price and it shouldn't be missed.
