[Downloadable Game] Snakeball is a funky, futuristic sport set in a vibrant arena where you glide across the dazzling disco floor on your hoversnake, collecting balls and scoring goals. Watch out for the other snakeballers desperate to knock you for a spin with a flick of their tails or a blast from their fiendish weapons. Chaotic action and energetic music bring together up to 8 players in entertaining online matches for a fun, unique gameplay experience. Loads of Weapons – Snatch up power-ups such as rapid-firing blasters and heat seeking missiles, and use the SIXAXIS wireless controller for better aiming. Choose among 16 different Snakeball riders or map your face onto your Snakeballer with a PlayStation Eye or Eye-Toy USB camera. [SCEA]

If you're a fan of games that mix a simplistic formula with deep mechanics, Snakeball is the title for you. With impressive gameplay modes, leaderboards and an ultra slick presentation, this one seems worth the mere ten dollar price tag.

Controlling the snake is just awkward with the stick, and the design style is a bit meek. [Issue#159, p.97]

Time has moved on and, even with a few new twists, "Snake" hasn't aged well. [Jan 2008, p.79]

Note to Sony: next time, just make us a game where we can chuckle at our distended faces. It's funnier. [Dec 2007, p.113]

Dave S. gave it a9:
Great graphics, silky smooth visuals and addictive gameplay that is never the same game twice. And the best part - the funky music that is the perfect blend of funk and downtempto electronica. Better than most other games that cost 5x as much!!
