[Downloadable Game] The beauty of TEKKEN is re-created at 1080p and optimized for the HD era, delivering one of the most realistic graphics on the PS3 platform. Games Radar (in-house)
Dark Resurrection doesn't have all of the extra features you might expect from a console release of a Tekken game, but this is offset by the pretty fair price and the fact that you can finally play the game on any size TV screen you have and with an arcade stick (like, say, the Hori Fighting Stick 3), to boot.

With a huge 36 characters to choose from and 15+ levels to duel upon, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection features more than enough for fighting game enthusiasts.

Overall, the bottom line is that even though this isn't exactly a next-generation game, it's still Tekken. In fact, it's the best iteration of Tekken, thus far.

There's no sense in mincing words: Tekken 5 doesn't come close to capturing the full graphical potential of the PlayStation 3. In fact, as far as next-gen brawlers go, it's a bit on the homely side.

The depth and variety on offer in this deluxe editon of Tekken 5 is superb. [May 2007, p.76]
GameSpot
You'd be hard pressed to find a better modern fighting game for such an affordable price.

For the same price as a PS2 "Greatest Hit," gamers can get their hands on one of the best fighting games of recent memory and enjoy all the same hand-to-hand action that last-gen owners have been raving about for two years. It's a must for diehard Tekken fans or fighting nuts that somehow missed it on PSP.

A brilliant beat-'em-up marred by its lack of modes, especially in the multiplayer department. It's also showing its age at a worrying time, with Virtua Fighter 5 on the horizon certain to claim the title. Good but no longer essential. [Issue#150, p.68]
Kombo
Lots of fighters and lots of action make the game digestible in small portions. Most of the “fluff” has been cut out of this version to make it more like the arcade game.

Not exactly the perfect rendition of the series, although the chance to control Jinpachi and the two new Iron Fist competitors more than makes up for the loss of ending videos and limited multiplayer. [May 2007, p.66]
Boomtown
Each character has the classic Tekken combination of throws, punches, kicks and spinny flying kicks that never fail to impress, and since the game is simply about fighting, the characters are balanced beautifully to provide easy to pick up, hard to master gameplay that feels far in advance of the current £6.99 price tag.

It's tough to beat an arcade fighter for mindless fun and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection performs admirably.
An excellent 'story so far' game that delivers pretty much the whole Tekken experience thus far for an astonishingly inconsequential seven quid. More than that though, it's a hard-hitting fly-kick to the face of the software industry - a standard bearer that redefines the value and content level of downloadable games.

In terms of gameplay, think of Dark Resurrection as "Tekken 5.5" - the basic combo-based fighting is pretty much identical in execution. [May 2007, p.102]
VideoGamer
Traditionally one of the more accessible of beat-ups, DR has loads of characters, 34 in total, all available right from the start, and half of which are only there for comic value (Roger Jr anyone?).

With great graphics and playability, along with a slew of cool characters, Dark Resurrection is an exceptional fighter—if you just want a familiar old school coin-op experience. The lack of the story mode, online play, and mini-games is disappointing.

Dark Resurrection is still a thoroughly enjoyable fighting game that should appeal to those who have liked the previous games. It is a little light on features in comparison to other Tekken titles but is still incredibly good value.

A solid Tekken title that does not tread much in the way of new ground but manages to tantalize graphically and produce its share of entertaining moments.

What you're basically getting for your 20 bucks (you read that right) is a skeletal single-player or 1-on-1 versus game. It is cool that we're finally able to get our hands on what was once an arcade/handheld only, but it's pretty much just that. What's offered is nice enough, but it's not much of a stretch to think that Namco could have included a little bit more.

Tekken V: Dark Resurrection is still fun to play and it's much better than most of the competition. It's just a bit of a letdown because it feels to me that the developers missed a chance to fully take advantage on the PS3's capabilities.

Stefanno D. gave it a7:
Cheap and nice game, there is not a online mode, only arcade mode and the ghost battle (the arcade game without end, u play until get bored), not the best in the series.
Joel M. gave it an8:
Solid game, HD graphics are great. This game will keep me busy while Soul Calibur IV comes out.
Alan D. gave it a7:
I haven't played a tekken game since tekkn 3, so I was rusty when I started playing this game. No practice mode didn't help matters. But for $20 it is a steal. Still, I was expecting the character endings, which is why i can only give a 7.
Neo C. gave it a1:
Definately not on of the best in the series. Compared to VF, the moves and graphics suffer, and the game hasn't really moved into the HD era just yet. Although you're running at 1080p, you still see some rough edges which you don't expect, and realise this is just a rush job to cash in on the public's demand for new ps3 content. I'll wait for Tekken 6.
Danny G. gave it a10:
Excellent game wicked characters, and still has a great fighting system.
Nero gave it a10:
It's not really fair that this is being compared to virtua fighter 5 because it's not a new game. It's the arcade game (hence the lack of modes) that has been put on PS3 with some graphics updates for HD, Hi-res play. Once of the main reasons for it is to appease people trying to do tekken tournaments with this game, which gets really hard at an arcade with one game, and you can't do them on the PSP. $20 for this is amazing.
