SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 easily represents the biggest leap forward for the series. While previous entries certainly piled on the match types and character rosters, the new creation aspects of SvR 2010 make it the best and most immersive WWE video game experience to date.

Absolutely worth picking up if you're a wrestling fan, and definitely a big step in the right direction for the series.
Read Full Review >Games Radar (in-house)
With the long-overdue additions of a story-creation mode and an online community, SvR2010 is a massive step forward for the series’ already-rich feature set, while still continuing the steady improvement of its in-ring fundamentals.

It doesn't reinvent the wheel with new gameplay mechanics or revamped graphics, but WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 excels once again as the definitive pro wrestling game on the market. Fans of the series and pro wrestling alike should definitely put it in their queues.

It's clear that the user-creation tools, mixed with the improved base game, will make this the SVR that lasts you into next year. [Dec 2009, p.70]

It seems like Yuke’s is finally starting to understand exactly what the WWE gamer wants out of their wrestling game as WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2010 introduces a number of changes and improvements fans have wanted for years.

Although it is always quite difficult to judge a videogame that has no term of comparison other than itself, we can state the fact that WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 marks a big step forward for the whole franchise, introducing improved graphics, improved collision system and improved gameplay as a whole.

The level of detail, the foresight that went into planning the Story Designer and character creator, the Training Facility to catch newbies up to speed without dumbing the game down for franchise vets...the title really has it all.

Once again THQ have done something that we were not expecting and have shaken up the franchise with a variety of twists and turns.

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 is the best iteration in the series in years. The franchise manages to be focused not only on hardcore wrestling fans but on a more generic community too.

The gameplay tweaks are welcome and make the experience feel fresh, the presentation is straight from TV, the load times are better than ever, the Road to WrestleMania is still great, you can create your own logos, and the ability to share your stories and characters is invaluable...WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 might not be the greatest wrestling game of all time, but it’s definitely the best the world’s seen in years.

Aside from some lingering issues with the gameplay and horrendous online issues, it’s a well-crafted game that should satisfy fans of the series, and bring back those who have lost faith in it in the past.
It’s easily the best game in the series, and well worth playing, but one has to wonder how many more times THQ can get away with ever-so-slightly improving what is, essentially, the same game.

These fans are the ones that will appreciate the little changes the most, but SmackDown vs. RAW 2010 is a solid title whether you have a closet full of Austin 3:16 shirts or just catch the occasional episode of RAW. [Nov 2009, p.97]

SVR 2010 is the ultimate wrestling gamer's sandbox. And the combination of one of the most finely tuned 3D wrestling engines with the ability to create and download so much new content, makes 2010 the best SmackDown title to date.

Smackdown vs RAE 2010 is more of the same, but the most complete edition in years, and the one that has included more content.

Some new features, but little innovation on the actual canvas. [Dec 2009, p.98]
SpazioGames
This year edition is once again a good fighting game, with lots of personalization and depth in combat. Graphics are getting really old though, and there's yet a lot to be accomplished from the dev team.

Overall, WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2010 is a great wrestling game. The gameplay is more of the same, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s all of the new creation tools that really make the game shine.

The amount of content you’ll reap from the create-a-wrestler alone will astound. If WWE’s your thing, welcome to nirvana. [Dec 2009, p.76]

Smackdown vs Raw 2010 is a fun, well presented title which will appeal to core fans of the genre but shouldn’t be overlooked by casual players.

Easily the best game in the series to date, and a must-buy for WWE fans - especially if you've been giving it a wide-berth for a few years. The controls are refined, the game modes are plentiful, the presentation is top class and the customisation features will excite the little kid in WWE fans the world over.

The collision detection seems off sometimes and the game isn’t exactly an example of original gameplay, but this is the game you need to buy if you want to get to know the WWE-franchise. Smackdown vs. Raw can be played by anyone thanks to the simple gameplay and is also a looker. The game is also filled with different modes and options to make your own content to share it with friends online.

The new episode of Smackdown vs. Raw is rich, entertaining and more polished than ever. The community element is well implemented and represents a nice touch for a game based on that huge live TV show known as wrestling.
Read Full Review >Playstation Official Magazine UK
As a pure fighting experience, this can't compete with its MMA counterpart. But there's so much to do that the actual wrestling is often secondary...It's those rich, user-generated elements that make this the deepest, most playable WWE game yet. [Nov 2009, p.114]
Multiplayer.it
WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2010 on the one hand is spectacular and rich in passion; on the other hand, it's almost the same game since years ago. The story editor is a great addition as it lets you upload your creations on the game's servers or download the ones created by other players. The online multiplayer is awful, with several lag problems. If you like wrestling games, this one is still the best you can find... but it desperately needs a change for the future.

It still runs on pretty much the same clunky fight engine that it had for years. [Issue#185, p.74]

THQ wrestling series is a little bit tired. This new chapter does not add any interesting feature to the standard formula.

With so many long-desired improvements and completely new features, SvR 2010 may be the best game of the series.

An intriguing new creation tool and widespread refinements make it another good year for Smackdown vs. RAW, but it still hasn't received the overhaul that it needs.

The enhanced character models, lightning-fast loading times, authentic WWE presentation, reconfigured match types, better CAW stat-building, the new Story Designer, and the online upload/download server mean that most fans of the franchise will clothesline anyone who gets in their way to the register. But just as many fans will be disappointed by the CAW point system, CAW restrictions in Story Designer and as downloadable characters, gender restrictions, the ho-hum Career mode, and the polished but still linear Road to Wrestlemania.

A new part in the long WWE Smackdown vs. Raw franchise. It’s got simple gameplay and many of the modes from last year including a few major improvements. It’s a shame the graphics are a little bit poor.

WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2010 adds a lot of options to the series, but seems to miss that the essence of the game - the fights and the atmosphere surrounding it - go further than a fun entrance and some flashy moves. People who are not really skilled at performing fast combinations, will find this WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2010 perfect. People looking for more, should wait for the next in the series.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 is an impressive new direction for the franchise, as it features a way for players to become directly involved with the other side of professional wrestling: the storylines. Sadly, I've been unable to find a playable match online, thanks to severe latency issues.

Wrestling in all of its glory, full of colours, muscles and spandex suits. Fans of the show are going to be thrilled when they see all the customization options and user creation modes, but the rather slow and sometimes long matches can be a bit off-putting. Smackdown vs Raw 2010 is nevertheless the best game in the series so far.
WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2010 doesn't fix any of the fundamental issues that the series has had for years, and as this style of gameplay gets another year older, it looks that much more dated.

Charles G gave it a7:
I hate the gender restriction. Dumb...why? The gameplay itself is unchanged, but I am giving a fair score for the nifty online interactions possible, the story creator (a nice START), and the continued growth of Highlight reel, and finisher creation. Still needs MUCH WORK, as always....they have to foul something up..(gender restrictions after 10 years of none in the title that was supposed to be an example of total freedom). All in all, a bit better than last year, but still far from the perfect wrestler.
Matthew H gave it a10:
Great Game Unfortunatly there are idiot reviewers that vote the same score every year, word of advice play the game properly before you play!!

Ugh... Another wrestling game. This was more of the same. How are rednecks still getting their hands on video game consoles.
