Summary
An experiment at a secret research facility has gone catastrophically wrong. Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper are the only surviving subjects. The Pickman Project will stop at nothing to hunt them down and stop the truth from getting out. Demented screams echo around the dank Dixmor asylum that has caged you for the last six years. You open your eyes. A white-coated body slumps to the floor through your shaking hands. A bloody syringe slips from your arm. Waves of confusion and paranoia crash over you. You have no idea who you are or how you got here. The door to your cell is open. One choice. One chance. They took your life. Time to take it back. [Rockstar Games]

The gameplay isn't perfect and the gore might be a bit much for sensitive-stomached gamers, but the story, bite-sized chapters perfect for portable play, and the overall presentation makes this one of the year's best PSP offerings.

Manhunt 2, rather hesitant in delivering its ulterior motif, is monstrously violent, extremely gory and smashingly bold when it comes to moral values. Suffered from procrastination along with other external factors, it manages to come to the spot and attract our attention, with much to yearn technically. Yet in terms of controversy, as the game intended when it started, success is the word. It is, so far, one of the most violent game in PSP lines.

It won't win any awards and aside from the absolutely terrible and very unnecessary violent content, it probably won't go down in the history books. But like the first Manhunt title, Manhunt 2 can provide a pretty good time if you can see past the hype and gross-out factor.

The AI doesn't feel as good as the first game, the setting and environments don't feel as menacing, and the story is definitely weaker. That isn't to say that Manhunt 2 isn't a good game, because it is.

It's not as shocking as you'd expect, but Manhunt 2 still satisfies your primal instincts.

The truth is that you probably don't need a two-thousand word review to tell you whether or not Manhunt 2 is your thing, you should already know if the game is your cup of tea.

Still somewhat disturbing and suitably creepy, Manhunt 2 still manages to provide a chilling good time on the PSP. With decent controls and loads of stealthy kills, it might still generate plenty of controversy anyway but more mature gamers will find this worth playing if they enjoyed the PS2/Xbox original.

It's hardly the pinnacle of stealth games - the enemies are dumb, and there's not much to do aside from sneaking and killing - but if you're in the mood for something creepy and horrific that'll leave you feeling a little dirty, Manhunt 2's still-shocking murders and eerie, is-it-real-or-am-I-just-insane storyline won't disappoint.

Manhunt 2, though not as original and challenging as its predecessor, is a worthy sequel but not necessarily a must-buy. It’s certainly worth renting, and rental period is sufficient enough to beat the game’s 8 to 9 hour campaign.

The deep, twisting plot coupled with visuals that you thought you'd never see on a handheld refuse to let you go. However, when you've seen every single execution and discovered the mysteries of the plot (which should take around seven or eight hours), there isn't a lot of incentive to play through it again.

It has slapdash controls and is riddled with gameplay issues, but the game achieves what it sets out to do: be a temporary distraction that's good for relieving a bit of tension.

It's a sometimes great-looking, seldom spooky copy of its original that doesn't quite live up to the media buzz.

A bland third-person stealth adventure with sub-par combat and annoyingly stylized death sequences.

Controversy aside, Manhunt 2 doesn't deliver gameplay entertaining enough to justify its sophomoric sense of humour. A lack of technical polish and censored elements prevent it from being anything more than a fleeting talking point.

In a way, the game does live up to the hype: they wanted to ban it for its gratuitous violence and I can see why. Funny how they didn't just get out and say that the game isn't worthy to be played; that would've made things much easier.

Peter C. gave it a6:
Wow, a pretty bad game. I was expecting a lot more out of this game. Not as good as the first game. They took out one of the most appealing features from the first game, the headset. The combat is pretty lame, it basically turns into a button mashfest. You also can't really tell the difference between any of the weapons, they all feel the same, a bat feels the same as a sledge hammer. Talk about unsatisfying combat. The camera and the controls make this game almost unplayable. The gameplay feels dated and boring. It's the same old, wait in the shadows, sneak up behind someone, and kill them stealthily. The only reason to play this game is for creative death sequences and solid story. Although, I don't know why the ESRB was all up in arms about this game, it's not as bad as the first game.
Ste W. gave it an8:
Manhunt 2 isnt all that it was cracked up to be, but its still worth playing if you were a fan of the first one. I found the controlls to be a little fiddly at first but I soon got used to them. The gun fights are nothing to be desired but its still a damn good game.
Jordan D. gave it a10:
Pure class game. Danny Lamb is so hard he can take a beating and still have his glasses on. The headshots are awesome and the graphics are lethal for a PSP.
Joe M. gave it an8:
Probably the best PSP game released to date. The blur effects are a bit of a hinderance, but not too bad. This is made up with the imaginative executions. The gun fighting scenes were never the strong points of either the Manhunt games, but I think the shooting scenes are better in Manhunt 2.
Olof W. gave it a9:
The game's raunchy environments come to life through outstanding visuals. Fans of the first will not be disappointed.
Paul C. gave it a9:
I took the plunge and bought this game. After playing thru half the game, I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. The gameplay is similar to the first Manhunt, but with much better graphics and control. Shockingly, this game controls very well for a PSP game. Obviously, the censorship sucks and I do miss the gruesome kills. However, the blur effect during kills is not too bad and I quickly got over it. It basically comes down to this...if you like stealth games like Splinter Cell...there is no reason you shouldn't enjoy this. Overall, very good game and I do not regret the $30 purchase one bit.
