The absolute best portable rpg that exists for any handheld system to date. [JPN Import]

Simply, Tales of Eternia is one of the best games you can get for the PSP. It breaks the RPG drought and is one of the best handheld RPG’s since "Golden Sun."

It's charming, well presented, deep, involving and infinitely rewarding.

There isn't a modicum of doubt in my mind that this is the best RPG on the PSP.

While there are no points for originality it remains an engrossing RPG. [Apr 2006, p.110]

Pelit (Finland)
Tales of Eternia has beautiful hand-drawn backgrounds and nice real-time fights. Otherwise it is pretty average. The characters and the story are dull and the dungeons are too repetitive. [May 2006]
Eurogamer
This is by far and away the best RPG for the PSP currently on the market and, if you never make the denouement and staff roll, you'll likely have had enough fun climbing all over its most solid of frames that in the end, the Tales don't really matter that much after all.

Despite graphical and dubbing problems, Tales of Eternia is guaranteed to hold PSP RPG owners until the next big wave of games arrives for the system.

As old-skool as RPGs get, but in a good way. An enjoyable journey gobbler. [Christmas 2005, p.110]
Sydney Morning Herald
The combat is quirky and original, but it's a system that RPG stalwarts may dislike for its dependence on reflexes over character statistics. It also takes some getting used to, so be prepared to stumble through the game for a while before you find your feet.

J W gave it a10:
It's definitely one of the best RPG's I've played, up there amongst FFVII and Golden Sun. The story, whilst being slightly cliched it still bringing me back for more. The music is amazing and very similar to Golden Sun, though with better sounding instruments. Overall it's a game I'll be playing through to completion but so far it's one of the best RPG's I've played to date. This game alone made me want a PSP.
Wojtek J. gave it a10:
This game is just... beautiful. Masterpiece. The best RPG on the PSP without question.
Giles C. gave it a10:
I was going to write a review once I've finished, but 24 hours of game play in I'm still going and it's still great, it's a game that's got a lot of love and polish put in it. This is a must for anyone wanting an RPG for the PSP.
Aaron gave it a9:
Gotta say its the funest rpg I've played on PSP so far unlike untold legends. Its so much like Final Fantasy, should keep me hooked till that bring FF out on the PSP.
Lightt Ever gave it a10:
If I could, I would give it 11, cause that's the best 2D RPG I've played so far. Tales of Eternia rules.
Pierluca C. gave it a5:
I've sold my copy after 3 days, the combat system is not what I was looking for, I must agree with what "Sydney Morning Herald" said on that... It's a pity, the game looked nice, but it's simply not my genre...
Joshua S. gave it a10:
Tales of Eternia is one of the best RPG's I've played. It may not look that impressive but as the story progress you'll get hooked. Its a game that is great and manages well although it does take time to be able to handle the battle system but once you do you won't be able to put your PSP down!
