It seems that an evil power company called Shinra, Inc. has found a way to mine this life energy, draining it from the earth, and using it to control the universe. Fortunately, a resistance organization know as AVALANCHE, has vowed to put an end to Shinra's destructive practices. The story focuses on Cloud, an ex-soldier of Shinra, who teams up with AVALANCHE, and along the way, encounters some very mysterious and powerful allies who help him fight against the deadly creatures Shinra has created to protect its empire. You, as the game player, will decide their fate. [Squaresoft]

Every aspect of the game is virtually flawless, from its movie inspired soundtrack, to the incredibly life-like FMV, to the detailed battle and Materia systems, to the boatload of simplistic and addictive mini-games. This is what RPG fans have been waiting for.

Simply amazing, and even better than the Japanese version. They balanced out the fights and added a couple of Bosses and some extra footage to the game.

I think the story sucks, but the game is excellent. The thing about Final Fantasy VII is, whether you like it or hate it, the merits of the game can always be argued very strongly from either point.

The one drawback in my opinion would be the replay value, as many people would find it pointless to replay the entire game just for a few secrets, since the story is the main reason to play a game like this.

If Square Soft wants videogames to be compared equally to other forms of art, then they are going to have to gain that respect by producing a game that is more intellectually and culturally aware and not a game that is essentially a video game screaming for attention and respect.

There is tons of RPG combat, which is a little too slow for some people and slowed even further by all of the spectacular but lengthy spell animations.

Wasif Hoque gave it a10:
So awesome... the ultimate game beautiful dramatic and filled with action.

Mareus K. gave it a10:
I have played games since i was 4 years old and i am proud to be able to say that I played almost every game worth mentioning in the game history atleast once. There are still a few titles i am trying to aquire, but its really just a few titles. That being said i have to admit that in my 20 years of playing games there were very few titles which managed to reach the heights of Final Fantasy 7. For those who judge this game purely by graphics i can only say i feel sorry for them because they are blind to the true art game, just as they are probably blind to to any form of art. They probably judge a book by its covers too. Its really sad they dont make more games like this. All of my best games come from 10 years ago. Baldurs Gate, Planescape Torment... Final Fantasy 7. I don't know which is better. Fallout series... God... I wish they would just dump the graphics and start making good old games with good story...

David H. gave it a10:
Why in the name of God did I never play this game ten years ago? I'll say it... it puts ever other game I've played to shame. Okay, the characters and story aren't exactly the stuff of high art (Barret is about as cardboard as they come), but you care about them and they make you laugh. Still today, the level of depth this game offers is astonishing. When I eventually complete it (and I don'tm want to do that until I've beaten Weapon), onto IX and Tactics for something more challenging.

Jon gave it a10:
Best RPG I have ever played.

Christian S. gave it a10:
For me this is the better game of my life. I love the storyline and im waiting if there is a release for the PS3, try to serach in youtube "final Fantasy VII PS3". The graphics doesnt means if this a good game, this game has relesed in 1997, and for these times the graphics was cool. If you are a RPG fan, you must try this game, the Materia system is addicting as hell and im still playing since 2005 =D.

Conca C. gave it a7:
This title has inexcusable graphics, I can't stand the characters (e.g. Cloud, Aeris, Tifa, Barret) at all except for Yuffie since she is the most mischievous ally in Final Fantasy game ever and Cait Sith because he's actually a traitor of some sorts, something unseen before. The story and its turns do carry the game, as well as the challenging bosses and mini-games which I enjoyed a lot, for example the defending of the Fort Condor. It's a decent game but I enjoyed other games by far more.

Andy O. gave it a10:
FInaly Fantasy VII is the greatest game ever. Amazing graphics for it's time, memorable characters (love them or hate them you know who Cloud and Sephiroth are), great story, and amazingly successful. This game is the reason I play RPG's still, I long for something close to FFVII.
