This old school compilation from Square includes "Final Fantasy IV" (known as "FF2" as a 1991 US SNES release which introduced the Active Time Battle system) and "Chrono Trigger" (1995's precursor to the wildly popular "Chrono Cross").

Having never played either of these back in the day, I can assure you that both of these games rank among the best RPGs ever made.

The only thing holding it back from being a perfect conversion are the sound effects, which seem muffled and slightly off key. Ignore them and play the game, the new text is so worth it.

Unfortunately, though the two games were visually stupendous in their respective times, they look quite dated by today's standards, and this will probably turn off those looking for a bigger thrill for their gaming dollar.

Cinescape

The updated version features a brand new dash feature allowing the player to navigate dungeons and towns much more quickly. This is a very welcome addition as in the original game making your way through these areas quickly became tedious.

I feel Chrono Trigger is the bigger reason for purchasing Final Fantasy Chronicles. It has a huge quest and darn near endless replayability.

Gaming Age

There aren't many bonuses to FFII and CT and it's disappointing. No making-of, no pages of artwork - just barebone games. Still, they're two of the best RPGs around.

I think that Chrono Trigger is AWESOME, but my personal belief is that u should purchase FF:C for FFIV. I am the biggest FFIV fan ever, this is the greatest package ever!

If FF7 had never been made Chrono Trigger would reign as king, along with it's son Prince Chrono Cross. I loved this game, it had one of the best musical scores of any game out there, it had great characters & a wonderful storyline, I particularly liked Magus.

Chrono Trigger is the best game evr. Then you add in FFIV and extra features. RPG goodness.

Tinkering with Final Fantasy IV's dialogue has transformed one of the Super Nintendo's most cherished role playing games into a classic.

The load times for Chrono Trigger make it unplayable, and they messed with the dialogue of FF4 too much. Just play the SNES versions.

These games were really good. I bought it for Chrono Trigger and played it first. Since I play it on my PS2 I can't really say anything bad about it. Except in FF4 some of item names have changed and the dialogue makes it look a bit cheesy. Chrono Trigger, however, has no glitches and has new amazing animated cutscenes that are great.

"Chrono Trigger" is like the best game ever made, and I remember saying 'wow' at the graphics way back then, and "FF4" was arguably just as good. If you have never played them before you should probably try it, and for the hardcore gamer who remembers it although its changed a little, its for the better!
