Games Radar UK (Pre-2006)
A fantastically comprehensive and playable wrestling sim - if it's actually possible to simulate something that isn't 'real' in the first place.

Infinite playability and attention to the he-men details make this a treat. [Mar 2002, p.34]
Hot Games
One of the best wrestlers on the PlayStation, Smackdown 2 puts all the other jabronis to shame with its quick action, cool graphics, and exciting game play.

What more can I say, this game is amazing.
GamePro
A huge arsenal of moves and a ridiculous number options - some great, some not so great - add tons of replay value and make Smackdown 2, making it a virtual no-brainer for wrestling fans.

Realistic season mode, improved graphics, and all of the WWF drama that you could wish for in a console game.

Clearly the best wrestling game on the PlayStation and packing a feature set much larger and well-rounded than the original Smackdown.

The solid gameplay from the first game is there, and the game has more than enough modes to keep you entertained, but overall, WWF SmackDown! 2 is simply more of the same.

The multiple game modes and environments, new wrestlers and intuitive control makes WWF Smackdown 2!: Know Your Role one of the best wrestling games to date, on any platform.

With new tag-team maneuvers that are remarkably easy to execute and more backstage areas than ever before, this is still the best PSOne wrestler and a great game for fans looking for something to play with their friends.
Game Revolution
A great game, but having to stand around backstage and watch the other characters perform is maddening. I guess that's what any rookie wrestler goes through.

The custom options are outstanding and there's tons of hidden stuff to find. The only real drawback are the painfully long loading times.
CNET Gamecenter
With more than 50 WWF superstars, a fantastic array of matches, and unparalleled, blisteringly fast gameplay, it's the only squared-circle brawler you need to buy. Anything else, especially the horrendous "WCW Backstage Assault," isn't worth your time.

What a game!! The Season is really long and you earn to unlock new people. The vids that come up every week can get repetitive though, but I still love it!

This game is freakin' awesome!!! The Ladder match and TLC matches are the best. You can do anything you want in the ring. you can put your opponent thru a table more ways then one. this is the only game that lets you be creative as you want and entertain the fans. A hella lot of wrestlers to choose from, you won't get bored with this. I know, I play this all the time!
