Summary
As a squadron leader and ace fighter pilot, leverage the Wii controller to experience intense dog fighting in the famous air battles of WW II. During the course of the mission campaign, players evolve along with their wingmen into an ace fighting force. Spectacular graphics enhance the combat experience in true World War II battle sites such as England, Germany, France, Morocco, Pearl Harbor, Midway and Tokyo. The heroic storyline that follows the evolution of a single squadron and the cinematic presentation create moments reminiscent of classic World War II movies. Pilots fly in close to Germany’s industrial terrain during a bombing raid or emerge from the fog and cloud cover over London to engage the enemy. Up to 16 players online can engage online in head-to-head dogfights or cooperative team play between squadrons in 10 additional missions. [Ubisoft]

Official Nintendo Magazine UK
There's already a better air combat game on the Wii in the shape of "Heatseeker," but if you'd rather try something more historical this isn't too bad. [Apr 2007, p.78]
Nintendo Power
Still, the game's biggest problem is a simple lack of mission variety. [May 2007, p.87]
Worth Playing
Even with all of the setbacks plaguing it, though, this Wii port of Blazing Angels: Squadrons of World War II has it where it counts. It adds motion-sensing functionality without sacrificing the fun — it, in fact, manages to enhance it in some cases.

Awkward and oh so frustrating - it's WWII through and through. [May 2007, p.48]
GameSpot
Blazing Angels is shot out of the sky by its shaky graphical performance and overly floaty control options.

If you’ve never played it before, you’ll find Blazing Angels a good, but not great game. It’s a perfectly acceptable time waster for a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Blazing Angels on the Wii might have an interesting control scheme but it doesn’t make up for the lackluster campaign mode or the barely-there multiplayer mode.

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII is the coulda-woulda-shoulda game on the Wii so far. With everything that it should have been, it is such a downer that it fails to deliver too often.

Piling on an unfortunate number of bugs and glitches, Blazing Angels on the Wii is undoubtedly the most disappointing version of this game to date. The lack of online multiplayer also detracts from the replayability.

There's a decent flying game in Blazing Angels, there really is. It's just buried under so many obtuse design decisions and horribly awkward Wii controls that it's not even worth looking for. On the Xbox, Xbox 360, and PS3 it was a decent experience for WWII flight fans despite a handful of quirks; on the Wii, it simply doesn't work.

Best Wii game I found. Fun.

Nice Porting! The control is good. This is one of my favourite Wii games too.
Jim B. gave it an8:
Many people have said that "Heatseeker" is the best flight game on the Wii. Yet after 10 minutes with "Heatseeker" I was done. I rented "Blazing Angels" and decided that it is a buyer. The controls are responsive, not to mention a ton of control options. The graphics are decent while not spectactular. But most of all it's simply fun. I'm afraid the length of the game may be too short but is sure is a blast while it lasts.
Luke G. gave it an8:
This is one of my favourite Wii games. The graphics are good, even up close, with very realistic water. The levels vary greatly in difficulty. There are many different control setups for players to use. There are many multiplayer modes and maps.

This was the freaking hardest game i have ever played. It was fun until I got to the second ice level, where you have fly in a REALLY small canyon, with a small time limit, and terrible controls. Yeah, took 3 days to beat that one. But once I did, I unlocked the D-Day level. But every single level after that is freaking hard. I don't know if there was a difficulty option, but if there was, I chose easy.
Dustin P. gave it a9:
This is one of my favorite Wii games to date. The controls were at times a little "laggy", but everything else made up for that. This game was a little tougher to beat than I thought it would be (especially mission 15, I wanted to throw it out the damn window) <-- I think that is what a great game does to someone. It mentally and physically breaks you down, and you won't stop until it's over, and that's what Blazing Angels did for me.
Jon S. gave it a7:
When this game came out I was unsure about it due to the magazine reviews giving ait a right royal pasting. Having it given some positive reviews from friends, I dipped my toe in and purchased it. If you liked Rogue Squadron, you’ll like this. Nailed on. Some of the missions can be repetitive, bomb something, shoot someone. But it has that something that for me that gives it that replay factor. It had me frustrated at points, but I carried on and it got better. The lack of internet connection is a let down, collaborative play on missions would have been a definite bonus, as would have the option for up to 16 player battles. A good effort, but a little tweaking in the composition and repetitiveness of the missions would have gone a long way. As would internet play. All in all I think this is a cracker of a (if not a slightly flawed) game.
