An absolute joy to play. Though it certainly does its job as a party game and will definitely help liven up your next get-together, it is equally enjoyable when played by itself. Its unique mash up of dancing and karaoke make it an irresistible choice for audiophiles and rhythm-lovers everywhere!

Boogie is certainly not without its flaws but as a karaoke/rhythm-action game designed to keep a crowd of people genuinely entertained it does the job perfectly. [Sept 2007, p.66]
GamePro
Pros: Easy, accessible fun. Song list is varied and interesting. Cons: You can't sing and dance at the same time, there's no online play and the replay value is low.

Much like any good party, Boogie ends much too soon while the fun’s still going on.

EA has created a great world and a solid launching pad for the franchise, but ultimately the dance portion—which is heavily emphasized—is far too easy even if people get really into it.

Leave your stuffy music and game sensibilities at the door – Boogie has a more plebeian appeal.

This is a great little game that is aimed squarely at the party and casual gamer.

Either going crazy on your own and capturing the results on video or playing around with your friends, Boogie proves to be a surprisingly sturdy effort that will be accepted well by the masses.

As with most Wii games, it really glistens with more than one player. If you're willing to commit to Boogie, mind, body and sooooul, it's a goddamned blast, channeling the same enthusiastic participation we all had last year when firing up Wii Sports first time. But then it's all over too quickly, and too easily.

It’s fun for a short season, but it won’t hold anyone’s attention for long.

Like SSX Blur, Boogie is another audio-visual feast with flawed gameplay.

Boogie is the type of game that would make a good rental for an evening when you’re entertaining some guests who aren’t gamers.

The controls are sketchy and I can't understand why humming with lips press against the microphone earns a better score than actually trying to sing.

The separate elements of the game each work well in their own right, although we were left wondering if they would ever come together to make sense of the game as a whole.
Read Full Review >Game Over Online
Boogie works best as a party game, if you really get into it, but with a $60 price tag, there's just not enough for me to recommend this song and dance number.

Boogie has its moments, but the game lacks fluidity, the karaoke lacks cool tracks and the rhythm sometimes just lacks, full stop. [Oct 2007, p.62]
The biggest problem is the lack of difficulty and subsequent lack of replayability, but while it lasts Boogie offers a pleasant distraction from the usual crop of rhythm and action games on the market.

There's fun in there for players with the patience and creativity to find it.

Sometime during the development of EA's Boogie, it should have occured to someone that there needs to be a lot more to getting your groove on than swinging the Wii remote rhythmically in any direction. [Oct 2007, p.88]
Game Chronicles
Some gamers might like the mish-mash controls and poor karaoke recognition – I would wait for a sequel before dropping any cash on Boogie.

If this is a trial run for "Boogie 2," we just hope it works better next time. [Nov 2007, p.84]
GameSpot
Boogie's gameplay mix of singing and dancing is an interesting idea, but it's poorly executed.
Boogie is a game that had a lot of potential which was ultimately not realized. If it gets a second shot and EA listens to the complaints, expect big things. As for this one? Only play it with friends.
Boogie could be fun, but it’s kind of like playing with a younger sibling. They’re not going to offer you a real challenge, and it’s going to be kind of embarrassing.
Boogie is a nice looking package, but the gameplay simply doesn't stack up to the competition. Very stylish, but way too simplistic to be taken seriously.
It’s a shame that Boogie’s gameplay falls so flat because there’s a tremendous amount of potential here.
Boogie has style, but it unfortunately doesn't have substance. Too bad because this game had the potential to reinvent rhythm titles, but that potential has fallen well short of the mark.
Although Boogie disappoints on a few levels, it does offer solace for those seeking more original games for Wii. Boogie shows us that developers are making an effort to look past traditional gameplay and imagine new designs for console gaming fun.
Boogie deserves to be a much better game. The excellent presentation hides a restrictive and basic control system that destroys any fun that might have been had while playing it.
If you're very young and easily entertained, Boogie might keep you occupied for a bit. But if you're looking for a game you can enjoy playing with kids or with friends after the pub, this isn't it. Not even after a bucket of Cheeky Vimto.
Strangely enough, Boogie works well on that extremely low level, EA has nailed the humor and charm with this musical cartoon. The actual game sucks if you’re expecting anything beyond a colorful puppet show.
Boogie should be a lesson learned for EA's Casual Entertainment division. Simplifying the controls of a game for new players is a good idea, but the gameplay shouldn't be simplified with them.
The fact that this game is fun for exactly 20 minutes, and only in a group of two or more, should keep you from buying this game. In the end, Boogie is light on dancing, light on karaoke -- a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none moment of fluff.
The concept of a game that joins dancing and karaoke sounds intriguing on paper, and if Boogie had managed to capitalize on its strange mix of gameplay ideas it might have been pretty enjoyable in practice.
I think Boogie is a horrible game. It’s so bad; I’m nearly offended that I even had to play it. Sure it’s aimed squarely at the casual market, but casual gamers aren’t necessarily stupid gamers.

Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. There's just no point to this game in any way, shape or form.
mb monst gave it a9:
Great party game for all your friends and family, not for the hardcore gamer, but thats not what the wii is about. The singing/dancing combo is a fantastic combination. Track List is great for all ages. even my nan got up and had a go!!! All in all a party game which to us is what the wii console is about.
Joseph E. gave it a6:
Only get this game if you can't wait for a real Karaoke game. The game graphics are cute, but the replay value on this game is astronomically low. Maybe Karaoke Revolution tainted me, but I just couldn't get into the Karaoke controls on Boogie. It didn't seem as responsive, and the timing was harder to pick up since the text shows a whole frame before your music. And you can't seem to easily track the text and the music keys at the same time.
Nick O. gave it a0:
This game sucks. Repacking it and bringing it back. I played it for an hour and could not figure out what the heck I was doing.
Jeff A. gave it a2:
I was looking forward to this game because, i've played karaoki games before (playstation "sing, sing, revolution) and i loved it. But, this game fell way short of my expectations. I can hold a tune (especially when the volume is maxed out) and can dance well but, it all goes out the window with this game. The dancing is not on beat instead, you have to follow this stupid bar on the screen so that you can't even see the moves your character is doing. In regards to the singing, I think the pitch markers takes away the fun...i mean, getting the pitch is the point but people don't adjust through sight, rather, they adjust by ear so, it makes the pitch markers irrelevant and confusing. Also, it takes way too long to figure out how to have fun from the get-go which makes this game way out of line of how the wii is immediately entertaining and easy to use right out of the box.
MC 2009 gave it a10:
If you like Karaoke, this game is great; the dancing is just gravy! The style of the graphics is also great, as well as features such as a music video editor and character customization. The variety of songs is pretty good; I guess my one complaint about this game would be: I want more songs! Might be due to a limitation of disc space, but I doubt it.
[Anonymous] gave it a9:
This game is a fun party game. A little thin on content, but it looks and feels slick and is lots of fun. I look forward to bringing this out at parties. The video editting function is too fun!
