Summary
[WiiWare] Also known as "Dr. Mario & Germ Buster" The doctor is in! Mario takes a break from his adventuring ways and once again dons his stethoscope for a new generation of germ-battling mayhem. In addition to the classic mode of using vitamins to exterminate viruses, you'll find two battle modes and an online multiplayer mode where you can hone your skills against players from around the world. Feel like challenging a friend who doesn't have Dr. Mario Online Rx? Then the WiiWare-exclusive Friend Battle Demo is just what the doctor ordered. Or maybe you'd like some help taking on those nasty viruses? Try out Virus Buster, where four players can simultaneously move capsules simply by pointing at them with a Wii Remote controller. Any way you look at it, Dr. Mario Online Rx is a prescription for fun that everyone can enjoy. [Nintendo]

IGN
For a $10 download Dr. Mario Online Rx is still one heck of a package, complete with online, worldwide rankings, some simple communication options for quick-messaging pre-match, and even the ability to send an online-only demo of the game to your Wii console friends so they can play with you; yet another awesome addition to this package.

There are plenty of reasons to hit the Wii Shop channel and plunk down the 1,000 points for Dr. Mario Online Rx. Virus Buster is an adequate addition to what is a classic Nintendo puzzler, and the overall presentation would be considered rock solid even if it came in a plastic case and required a gas-guzzling trip to GameStop

A great puzzler and the sort of title we'd like to see more of on WiiWare. [July 2008, p.83]
GamePro
Playing Dr. Mario Online RX for an hour or so virtually guarantees a smile and good mood to follow. Precious few full-price Wii games are that much fun, and a $10 game that delivers and that every single member of your family is likely to enjoy playing - is frankly a bargain.

If you've been waiting for a WiiWare game to download, Dr. Mario's got the cure – and it won't set your wallet back to Medicaid levels either.

For anyone looking for some nostalgia in their Wiiware this game definitely packs a powerful punch for the cost.

For a title that has been away from our screens for far too long, Dr Mario is an excellent revival of a classic puzzle game and a decent WiiWare launch game.

It's got all the components you could ever ask for in a Dr. Mario game, and the inclusion of Wi-Fi and Wiimote modes gives players a few decent options when approaching it.

Dr. Mario & Germ Buster is a solid game that's highly recommended for those who enjoy puzzle games.

It's certainly a decent enough block-dropping puzzler, even if most people probably would've preferred Tetris. Or a Virtual Console release for the SNES Dr Mario and Tetris compilation. Either way, 1000 Points feels a bit steep.

Dr. Mario looks great, sounds great and plays great, just like the original did 18 years ago, and the inclusion of online multiplayer adds value.

A solid puzzle game with some cleverly designed extras. [Aug 2008, p.117]
Cheat Code Central
This game will be fun for those who enjoy challenging puzzles, but overall it doesn't feel like a very generous remake. Online gameplay is the main reason to buy it again.

The Virus Busters mode was a new twist and made good use of the Wiimote, the sticky or slow movement of the pills was frustrating at times, but still fun.

The multiplayer modes are fun, but it'll never be as good as "Tetris." [Issue#24, p.27]
NintendoWorldReport
The online mode works great but adds nothing to the experience, and the demo-sharing feature is a wonderful idea crushed by Nintendo's online architecture.

Don't be fooled by the pointer controls or other fripperies. [Aug 2008, p.75]

Gator B. gave it a10:
For a puzzle game, this gets a 10. Just as charming and addictive as when I had it for my original B&W gameboy. Good times!
Evan B. gave it a10:
Fantastic classic game that is the only Wii game my wife will play with me! Highly recommended for only $10!
Bill R. gave it a9:
I don't understand the low reviews. This is exactly like Tetris for DS (except 20 bucks cheaper) and Tetris DS was lauded by critics. Over-priced? Huh?
