EA hasn’t marketed their new program for those looking to lose weight or get in shape; rather it’s been marketed to help keep people active, hence the name, EA Sports Active. Despite this, some will still add it as part of their weight loss program, some will still use it to help them get in shape (guilty as charged), other’s will see it as a good reason to stay fit. Whatever you’re reason, EA may have unlocked the way to get gamers’ off the couch and maybe, save us some money on gym fee’s during the current economy.

This is the best videogame workout on the planet – and it makes you look a little flabby in comparison.

EA Sports Active has not jumped on any bandwagons; instead, it has set a new bar for what exercise games should be. After one week, I can already see and feel results, and I have every intention of finishing out my 30-day challenge, as well as sticking with it beyond the initial 30-day period.

But EA Sports Active has a great core--it will motivate you to work out and have you doing it the right way.

It’s good to see that EA have created something quite decent, without resting on their laurels.

It can be especially useful for busy people, stay-at-home parents, the self-conscious, or people who simply dislike the gym atmosphere.

We were well impressed with this one; it offers great value for money, with plenty of variety and flexibility, plus the option to workout with a friend… EA have well and truly nailed it.

Offers a fairly different and very effective alternative to the super serious "Wii Fit." [Aug 2009, p.73]

I am happy to say that EA Sports Active finally bridges the gap between house and gym, earning it top honors as the best exercise game currently out for the Wii.

EA Sports Active is easily the most robust and enjoyable fitness experience on the Wii to date. Even without the Wii Fit board you can get a fantastic workout in as little as twenty minutes, and the best part of all is that it is fun.

EA SPORTS Active is a must have if your looking to slim down for the summer, its also the ideal solution if you would rather be in the comfort of your own home than in a gym.

Great tool to help you shape your body and motivates people to do regular home exercises. Inaccurate wiimote controller spoils the fun though. [July 2009]

EA Sports Active let's you break with fun exercises and keeps you motivated through a calorie counter. The controls need some getting used to, but the game is an excellent addition to your workout routines.

EA Sports Active is undoubtedly a great gym in a small CD with exercises that leave us with a sense of accomplishment, all with the convenience of the privacy of our home.

EA beats Nintendo at its own game with a keep-fit package that seems substantially more useful than Wii Fit.

If you buy EA Sports Active expecting a FUN game, you’ll be disappointed despite the overuse of that word in all of the marketing, promotional and instructional material. If you buy it looking for a product that can actually help you get some exercise, lose some weight and even change your lifestyle then this is probably the best such product on the market right now.

EA Sports Active is a fine alternative to Wii Fit, and actually encourages you to get active outside of the game as well.

EA Sports Active is a really great first effort game. The developers at EA Sports laid a really nice foundation for the next game that will inevitable come in the series. Hopefully they will tighten up the controls as this will make for a better game. If you are looking for a fun game that will help you work up a sweat and lose some calories check this game out.

So for now, while there's plenty of scope for performance enhancements, Active's the best there is. I'm still running. But, unlike the weeks after Wii Fit arrived, I'm also still playing.

In terms of long term use, if you are not motivated to work out EA Sports Active will not make you more motivated. Instead this is a game similar to any other exercise game that offers a quick and successful way to loose weight and get healthy.

There are a few things that need to be optimized and the concept could be even better but Active is the best title available in its category actually.

Still regularly using Wii Fit? You will very likely love EA’s new fitness game, which brings twenty challenges including a motivating two player mode straight into your living room.

Had the game's controls been better reconciled with Wii's limited capabilities I might have been able to give EA Sports Active a solid recommendation, both for its high ambitions and the impressive number of customizable features. But due to shaky controls, I'm going to give it a shaky thumbs-up instead.

Are you looking for an alternative for Wii Fit? Stop looking, EA Sports Active is what you want. As a hardcore gamer you may find this game boring, unless of course you want to lose some pounds!

EA Sports Active has its issues, but it’s a major step in the right direction.

The only problem I can and would raise is that although it shows you what to do, your form or stance maybe wrong when tackling some of the exercises. Also the resistance band provided seems cheap and flimsy, so much so that I could not trust it for some of the exercises.

Nate B gave it a9:
Though it takes some getting used to in terms of learning the exercises and positions, this is the definitive exercise program on the Wii to date. Definitely recommended over Wii Fit. In EA Sports Active you can work out with a friend, customize workouts, keep a journal of your dietary and exercise habits and earn in game trophies that help you feel accomplished about keeping up with your regimen. My only complaint, and really this is with the Wii overall, is that some exercises don't seem to pick up on the movements of the remote or nunchuck accurately. The inline skating is a great example of this. Additionally, the band included doesn't have a high resistance level, however this problem is quickly remedied by purchasing a stronger resistance band (the xertube or others work great) off amazon for only $10.
M M gave it a9:
Nice break from the Wii fit. Takes some time to get use to the correct way to hold the Wii remote and Nunchuck, but very rewarding! Goodbye workout DVD's. Nintendo has come up with much more interesting solutions. Video games + exercise means a workout that's fun and challenging.
Tony O gave it a10:
Very well thought out and excellent for working out at home. The wii fit doesn't come close to this. Highly enjoyable and a true sense of accomplishment after playing.
carlos e gave it a10:
Much better than I expected, you can burn almost 400 cals in a hour which is only 100-200 less than a gym and no awkward bus journeys getting changed or even leaving the house. Puts wii fit to shame.
