Summary
Step onto the pitch and play a unique football experience exclusively for the Wii. Enjoy FIFA 09 All-Play one of two ways—a Wii-specific take on the classic ‘11 vs. 11’ simulation or over-the-top arcade action with Wii versions of your favorite football superstars. FIFA 09 All-Play is perfectly balanced for gamers of any ability to enjoy fun, football action. Choose to play the style that best suits your skills from advanced controls for experienced players to new EA SPORTS All-Play that enables novice players to focus on fun using simplified controls with AI assistance. EA SPORTS All-Play makes it easier and less intimidating for new players to play at their own level of ability. One gesture and one button press performs all the actions and increases your success rate on shots, free kicks and rebounds. Trouble deciding who to pass the ball to? Let the CPU point you in the right direction with on-screen pass indicators and one-button actions. Panic over picking the corner? Don’t worry, just blast away to find the back of the net with instant shots on goal. Plus, the game provides feedback and stats to track your progress. Experienced players using advanced controls can still access all the in-depth controls, now with refined gestures and a precision passing system with point-and-play control. Plus, you can even use a Classic controller or Nintendo GameCube controller for a more traditional FIFA game experience. Play with your Mii alongside your heroes Ronaldinho, Wayne Rooney and other football stars created as customized characters in an arcade version of the beautiful game. Play 8 vs 8 Footii Match mode for addictive pick-up-and-play arcade action suitable for all levels of ability. Steal the ball and make outrageous shots by simply waving your Wii Remote. You’ve never played football like this before! Plus, Footii Party Games called Table Football and Boot It have been overhauled for more great fun with family and friends. [Electronic Arts]

As dedicated PES fans, it means a lot when we say that FIFA 09 is the best football game on the Wii at the moment. Game on, Konami.

A truly spectacular soccer title with exceptional player animations, ball handling and gameplay to boot. The AI will provide a significant challenge, but the implementation of one of the most advanced and complete online modes will mean that this game will truly last you a long time.

It would be easy to dismiss it with the cutesy Miis and two games in one approach, but in spite of this, FIFA has been given what it needed to draw in the first timers and the old hands, snatching the title of best football game on the Wii with a last minute flick of the remote.

Hating football and playing football games isn’t the best thing to do. After being forced to play this genre of games for ten years, FIFA 09 All-Play is easily the best sports game I’ve ever played. With a strong single player mode for serious gamers and a light-hearted and purely fun multiplayer casual side, it makes it an all rounder and a great game to play.

EA’s strategy of attack trumps Konami’s, though the latter did reinvent how football should be played on Wii.

Fifa09 All-Play for Wii is a great game with fascinating sensations and interesting gameplay. It solved all the problems of the last version 2008. Moreover it features special Wii controls so to offer an immense experience. A perfect game for soccer lovers, with or without experience in this genre, it will be among the best games for this year. Fifa09, no doubt, is the best soccer simulation as for Nintendo Wii and is one of the best Fifa soccer games that we have ever seen.

EA has definitely shown improvement in their second soccer effort on the Wii since there’s plenty of variety in the gameplay and game modes. Also, the graphics are about as good as can be for a Wii game.

FIFA 09 All Play is incredibly fun to play. Even though the Footii Play mode only added one more game-type, thankfully 8v8 is the best addition and should be a focus for future editions. This is a solid sports title for the Wii and should be played by all soccer fans.

The title suggests that all can play, and that's certainly true - what it fails to tell you is that this is a game that no-one will truly master either.

EA has taken many efforts to come up with a good FIFA 09-Version for the Wii. The Wii-optimized handling is okay, but there is also space for improvements.

Overall FIFA 09 All-Play is a very solid FIFA game that doesn’t stretch its boundaries too far to go out of the ordinary, but makes a pretty fun game.

New controls, improved online play, and eight-player support make FIFA 09 All-Play a fine upgrade to last year’s Wii debut.

It's all a bit spotty and unsatisfying - whatever your skill level. [Dec 2008, p.74]
PTGamers
The focus on playability clashes with the visual limitations, but for those who didn't get the previous edition, this one comes out recommended.

Though the overall product doesn't quite measure up to this year's Madden or Tiger, FIFA 09 may be EA's best effort at catering to both casual and hardcore fans of a particular sport. [Dec 2008, p.94]
NGamer UK
A lightweight, schizophrenic football title that fails to draw you in like a "FIFA" game should. [Dec 2008, p.50]
IGN
Overall, this year's FIFA offering isn't much of a step, but it's still moving in the right direction. The big change for 09 is All-Play, and the addition of an eight-on-eight mode along with it, and while that's a great move for casual gamers, it comes at the expense of still taking the #2 spot behind Pro Evolution Soccer.

Arki Q. gave it a9:
overall, it's the best fifa game i've played, the only complain i have with it is the passing, that is sometimes off target but worse is that sometimes it makes a loop pass instead of a low pass when it isn't necesary. I can make players go where i want to put my passes and that is really good, but somehow there's also some lost control with the Wii remote compared to the Gamecube controller. The online is pure awesomeness and the 8 Vs 8 is sometimes even better than the normal football game. This game is GOOD.
No One gave it an8:
I actually would rate this game 8.5 because the game its self is worldclass and the gameplay is superior to any other game I have played on. I rated it down a bit because of the passing on the game which most the time is off target, resulting in loosing the ball. This is really annoying. But on the whole this game is great.
Alex F. gave it an8:
Could have been a higher score if the makers of the game thought a little bit more to the hardcore gamers. Like the n64 en cube versions were the same with the same options etc.. as the xbox and ps2 versions. Altough, the fysics are the same, as the xbox360 version and PS3.
Barnabas B. gave it a10:
The best football game on the wii to date. It's a fast paced football game not a real sim. Full of content, really worth the price tag. Pes on the wii has better control, with more options (like sending your teammates directly on a run), but FIFA 09 All Play features more modes, a great manager mode, totally lag-free online play, COOL minigames (8v8 footii party rulezzzzz!!!!!), better graphics and so. It's the complete package!!! If you like football don't hesitate buy it!!
