Summary
The Ice Age is ending and our subzero heroes return in this action adventure video game set in a melting paradise of water parks, geysers and tar pits. Manny the Mammoth, Sid the Sloth and Diego the Sabre-Toothed Tiger are back and realize that the melting glaciers will soon flood their valley. Fans will be able to play as their favorite characters from the film, along with everyone’s favorite sabre-toothed squirrel, Scrat, and embark on a mission across an increasingly dangerous landscape towards their salvation from a huge glacial dam that is about to break, threatening to flood the entire valley. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is a really fun game, but it is held back by one major flaw: its length. It takes only a couple of hours to beat this game if you have any gameplay experience.

Control is tight, especially on Wii. Eurocom has added new gesture-based actions that feel very natural. For instance, you simply motion downward with the Wii remote to make Scrat butt-stomp. Or, you shake it side to side to get him kickin' at enemies.

The motion controls don't fundamentally change this movie-licensed platformer, but they don't get in the way either, and the adventure is still a breezily fun one.

A decent, simple platform game that will probably keep any younger fans of the film quiet for a good few hours. [Feb 2007, p.63]

The Meltdown is fun, and it makes good use of the Wii’s motion-sensitive controller. If you’re an Ice Age fan or a platformer fan that doesn’t mind a short game versus an engrossing epic, then it’s hard to go wrong.

It may not strive to reinvent the genre, or do anything especially new, but it makes good use of the Wiimote and is a pleasant experience overall.

Unlike Open Season, which kept me thoroughly entertained from start to finish, I found "Ice Age 2" to be something of a repetitive chore at times.

Looks fantastic but it plays like too many average games of movies. [Feb 2007, p.74]
GameSpy
Given that Ice Age 2 is intended for a younger audience, it's not a terribly long or challenging game. Don't be surprised if the adventure is finished after about four or five hours.

Katy F. gave it a7:
Graphics are very good but sometimes the camera angles are awkward and don't show you all you need or want to see. Fun but there isn't much to it and it gets boring pretty quickly
