While you're still playing a regular old game of football, the variety of ways that you can play that game is grand and makes this a terrific title for casual football fans of any age.

If you're a football fan who loves simulation and fine-tuning his team to strategic perfection, you're going to want to stick with the tried and true Madden formula on 360 or PS3. If you're looking for a fun game to play with some friends who aren't really all that interested in football or are relatively new to football, then Madden Wii is a good buy.

Tibruon has finally created a game specifically for the Wii that doesn;t seem like a hastily prepared port.

The Wii version of Madden is still cutting its own way through the American Football games with its own style and ideas.

Madden 10 on the Wii is enough of its own game that it feels like a fresh entry into the Madden franchise. It's like the supplemental reading to a literature course. It isn't a huge concern if you don't cover it but it provides a different perspective on the same subject.

Madden 10 is a fun Wii game - It just isn’t one I see many current Madden players getting into over a true-to-NFL offering. EA will grab new fans with this year’s Wii game, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it also pushes away old fans in the process.

For those who fancy some non-serious gridiron action it's worth a look. [Nov 2009, p.98]
GameZone
Madden NFL 10 for me is exactly the type of football game I want to play for the Wii. Nothing too heavy or serious in the controls or gameplay modes that could turn away non-gamers and some hardcore gamers.

Madden 10 for the Nintendo Wii is very stylized version of their long running gridiron franchise. With original graphics, solid sound, and very Wii centric gameplay, there is no doubt that this game has made some drastic changes on this console.

It’s not a perfect game, mind you, but it’s a breath of fresh air that reminds you how invigorating a game designed for – and not around – the Wii can be.

All in all, I enjoyed Madden '10 on the Wii and can definitely say that it's the best version for casual fans.

The game may not have the depth that some are looking for, but regardless, it'll still provide loads of fun.

The game proved itself to be accessible and enjoyable to everyone, regardless of any previous experience of the sport, with the hard-and-fast Showdown take on gridiron offering immediate gratification, and the Huddle-Up and Road to Superbowl modes giving plenty of scope for matches other than the traditional head-to-heads.

That EA is making a concerted effort to create something unique for Wii is admirable, but at the end of the day, I'd rather play Madden NFL 09. [Sept 2009, p.89; score increased from 7.5 on Oct 2010, p.92]

For anyone who doesn't 'get' in-depth gridiron action but wants in on the fun. [Dec 2009, p.60]
Gamer 2.0
The game is not fast enough to play like an arcade game, yet the Mario Galaxy-like cooperative gimmicks are enough to make it seem like one. But either way you look at it, Madden NFL 09 is probably the better Wii football game.

What hurts the game the most is without a doubt the horrible commentary. It is extremely disappointing for a game like this, EA Sport’s signature title, to have so many problems in the sound department. It’s the one thing that prevents this game from being a solid purchase. If you only own a Wii and need to play a football game this season, then by all means go with Madden NFL 10. On the other hand, if you have a choice, I would strongly recommend buying the game on a different console.

Really, it’s not a bad game, and is clearly targeted at the casual market and the younger generation, and considering that audience, it’s at the very least worth a rental.
With more emphasis on quick-hit, easy-to-play mini-games and casual-centric visuals with extremely basic controls, Madden NFL 10 on the Wii might as well be referred to as Madden Lite.
Madden NFL 10 on the Wii makes some great strides in differentiating itself from its counterparts, but it also neglects the major aspects that make those other versions so engaging.
If you have three friends who love the sport then Madden 10 will be great fun, but the single player portion has been ignored this year to the degree where it'll be extremely interesting to see if it'll be present at all in Madden 11.
This game is a tale of two bastardizations. In trying to satisfy both casual fans and those who want more depth, Madden NFL 10 for Wii tries to serve two masters. In the end I don't think it achieves either goal. [Sept 2009, p.91]

It is a decent effort that does plenty right and very little wrong, any NFL fan would be quite happy with this arcade-like version of a classic game mechanic.

R R. gave it a9:
Overall I would say this is a very solid game that has a ton of replay value with the online and multi-player elements. First let me say that I am a huge football fan but usually I can not get into the madden games, so I can not compare this game versus 09, or any other version. That being said I am very happy with all the options you have in the game. From the 5 on 5 (which is a lot of fun) to the full 11 on 11. I know some people will hate the way the game looks but whatever. The Wii is no where near as powerful as Xbox 3060 or PS3 so I am fine with the visual style. In fact I actually dig it. You can also unlock the old modes like Superstar and Franchise Mode and play them through. One part of the game that I really like is the point and click passing game. I am ok with the old passing scheme but I really like how that whole set up feels. They have toned down the waggling you do (unless you use the superstar or franchise mode) and mapped a lot of moves to buttons. To me it never felt right to swing the remote or nunchuck all the time (especially when it either didn't register or do a different move than you were trying to do). So yes overall I would say the Madden 10 for the Wii is a damn good game. I have been loving the superstar mode and have also played online and some multi-player games. So far I would say I have played at least 10 hours and I can see this game lasting for a long, long time.
