It's just great fun. [Christmas 2008, p.101]
AceGamez
It's by no means a killer application but Monopoly is a faithful reproduction of a timeless classic.

It’s a calculated, strategic exercise that requires ample time and patience. The Wii version gracefully combines the classic gameplay with new variations in a format that’s visually pleasing, entertaining to play, and a very strong representation of the Monopoly experience on a gaming console.

It’s always refreshing to be able to play it with impartial AI, and the AI difficulty settings are well judged, but unless you’re a total addict, chances are this is one for the game shelf, only to be dusted off on the odd occasion.

Monopoly is a strong representation of the classic table game on a gaming console. Classic gameplay with new variations and minigames deliver a pleasing game experience to play against friends and/or family.

Monopoly on the Wii is a good, but not great, interpretation of the Parker Brothers classic. Pick it up and give it a spin if you've got a set of friends who normally enjoy coming together around other multiplayer standards like Mario Party -- but if you don't enjoy those games, or the traditional board game version of Monopoly, or if you just don't have any friends to play with, send the potential of this game being added to your library directly to jail.

In my humble opinion the developers could have made more out of this game. With the quite annoying control and the ever and ever same audio commentaries one asks himself why it wouldn't be better to get the old board game out of the cupboard.

EA has managed to produce a competent virtual version of the classic board game, but we still can't recommend it over buying the real thing. You get numerous boards and the questionable Get Rich Quick mode, but you lose so much by not being able to play the way you want.

As far as console versions of Monopoly goes this is one of the better ones.

It all just seems a bit unnecessary. [Jan 2009, p.71]
Eurogamer
For the price of Monopoly for Wii (RRP GBP 29.99), you could buy real Monopoly. Twice. Or you could just buy no Monopoly at all and spend the money on something more likely to inspire amity and harmony, like a book by Hitler.

Dan P gave it an8:
It solidly presents the game in all it's classic play and the richest edition with the minigames adds a cute touch and a interesting way to play the game when you don't feel like playing an infinite game. The lack of online multiplayer and the voice over that gets old quick set this game back, but it was nice to see different board themes and tokens. I recommend it.
DA GR?1 gave it a4:
The game is horrible, the old NES version is better...The AI is the worst i have ever seen. IE It seems as if when you increase the difficulty instead of them playing smarter they gang up on you (trading property that a real person would not let go to allow a monopoly). I play to win (who doesn't) but out of 3 other computer players it doesn't matter the AI still wins. When rolling the dice you always land on their property on end up on chance/comm chest, barely getting your own property. On a better note the boards are interesting, and it might just be I have to play with other humans, but until then I guess I will have to select 2 players (me and myself) and 2 AI and I might be able to win at least 1 game!
