There are nearly endless customization options so that your car reflects your high-gear personality. You can swap bodies, change paint jobs and add tons of accessories. Not only can you change the look of your car, you can also improve power, acceleration and handling by mixing and matching engines, suspension and tires. [Electronic Arts]

Can we honestly expect MySims Racing to become some sort of darling? Probably not. Everyone knows Mario Kart's all over it. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't give it a whirl.

If you get over long loading times and a short gameplay in the singleplayer mode, MySims Racing will compensate for it in every multiplayer match, which up to four players can play on the Wii! Creative elements were mixed to a nice cocktail – the target group are mainly younger "MySims" fans and party people.

Features such as charming humor, likable characters, a soft, clean look and car customization options give the experience a personal touch.

MySims Racing might not be the top kart racer on the Wii, but it’s deep customization and solid racing definitely make it worth a look. If you’ve played out Mario Kart and are looking for something that offers similar solid mechanics with a little more flair for customization, you can’t go wrong here.

MySims Racing doesn't shatter kart-racing conventions, but it has a couple of fun new ideas that set it apart from the pack.

Solid enough but with pretty basic multiplayer options it's no Mario Kart Wii challenger. [Aug 2009, p.95]

Even though there’s a cute storyline running through all the missions, there’s still the impression that more was possible. The circuits are short, some of the missions way too easy and the opposition… isn’t there. The style of the game matches the MySims-world and together with the music MySims Racing fits those people who love these characters, perfectly. Fun, but not great.

Characteristics such as a good mood and the option to give a personal touch may not last long but there is a chance for you to find here a solid, enjoyable, but unfortunately too familiar game.

If you're just picking one, choose Mario Kart. But if you've got the money and the inclination to play another kart racer, MySims Racing will certainly satisfy your craving until the next big thing comes along.

There is nothing particularly new or fresh about this title, but it still manages to be entertaining to a wide age group. Hardcore gamers might find this a little too juvenile in its approach, but younger players and rookie kart drivers should find it accessible and fun.

By no means bad, but less than we'd expect from the MySims 'franchise'. Limps home a distant second place to the real thing. [Aug 2009, p.67]
Multiplayer.it
The inevitable comparison between Mario Kart and MySims Racing is unfair at best: even if the game is kinda fun to play, EA's title can't be nearly as good as Nintendo's milestone. If you can get over it, you'll find yourself with a nice but unpolished racing game.

It's cute, but it's just not the best kart racer on the console. Hell, it might not even be the second best one. For die-hard fans of the MySims series, if any exist, the game is likely worth checking out, but for everyone else it doesn't have enough replayability to justify a purchase.

MySims is an okay game in many respects but there are other, more worthy kart racing titles that have done the same song and dance much better without getting diluted with trying to cultivate friendships in a racing game.
MySims Racing is a perfectly adequate kart racer that plays it far too safe in a genre that is associated with thrills and spills. While the car customization is a positive step forward, the courses, power-ups, and play modes don't do anything substantially new or exciting.

With "Mario Kart Wii" boasting the quality it does, there's little need for MySims Racing. [Aug 2009, p.60]
Cheat Code Central
Sadly, even with the nice additions of a story mode and a fairly robust cart customization aspect, the gameplay itself is the biggest deterrent of MySims Racing. It's not that the game can't be fun at times, but it definitely gets tedious quickly, and with the excellent Mario Kart Wii already available on the same system, it gets hard to recommend picking this one up.

MySims Racing follows the lead of Mario Kart Wii, without the presumption to overtake it. Gameplay is funny, but it doesn't add anything to the genre, while a modest visual appeal and the lack of an online mode make EA product suitable for merciful players.

MySims Racing is a typical kart racer you've gotten to know and love(?) on Nintendo consoles - oddly shaped characters, colorful environments and boxes filled with weapons is what's offered on the menu. Some portions of the game is better than the genre behemoth Mario Kart but overall this is a lesser game. This is a competent alternative to the Nintendo franchise but if you're still enjoying your Mario Kart sessions there isn't all that much news or innovation to be found here.

As far as a choice between the Wii version and the DS version go, the Wii version is superior because of not only its graphics and sound, but because the controls are more intuitive than anybody would think.

The Sims Racing passes the theory test, but fail the driving test instead. There's really no point in playing this when there are games like Mario Kart around.
