Summary
Step onto the court and into the fun with a unique basketball experience designed exclusively for the Wii. NBA Live 09 All-Play offers more action, more often, with an over-the-top basketball experience designed with everyone in mind. Improved responsiveness and more control options make this game easier and more fun to play than ever before. [Electronic Arts]

Not the greatest basketball game, especially if you take the sport seriously. You're best sticking wtih football on Wii. [Dec 2008, p.68]
3DJuegos
NBA Live 09 All-Play for Wii is still far off the last games that used the All-Play philosophy. It doesn't have important new features and didn't solve the problems of the previous version with some annoying controls and animations. Wii doesn´t have many choices in basketball games so NBA Live 09 will be interesting only for basketball fans.

This is the second year on Wii that we've played EA's NBA product, and for the second time in a row we've been welcomed by a game that's more offensive-focused than NBA Jam, and a mess of gameplay bugs, interface issues, and overall sloppy development.

A distinct lack of polish in the visual and AI department. [Christmas 2008, p.103]
HellBored
NBA Live 09 All-Play marks another step back for EA on the Wii. In short, this means unflaggingly offense-heavy gameplay, dull visuals, and uninspiring features.

NBA Live 09 really nails the All-Play subtitle and is an enjoyable outing when your taking to the court with friends. But play it on your own and both the cheap-shot exploits and ugly looks make it a title you’ll soon tire of.

Bad graphics and the odd bug are acceptable on a game of substance. However, NBA Live 09: All-Play lacks a career mode, and is only as good as the person online that can be played against. Unfortunately, AI is so odd that it makes multiplayer somewhat futile after long periods of time.

Imbalanced gameplay, a lack of career mode, poor online, and a gameplay system that just isn’t fun make it hard to enjoy NBA Live 09: All-Play.

Across the board, NBA Live 09 All Play is a poor game that will disappoint any Wii Basketball fans. I will give them credit on using the Wii remote some-what effectively, even with the poor use of it for free throws, but it just does not offer enough value for basketball fans to want to spend money.

NBA Live's Wii struggles continue with another lackluster effort plagued by glitchy animation, unresponsive motion controls, and atrocious AI. [Nov 2008, p.104]
Play.tm
Compared to the great strides forward made by most of EA's other sports titles this year, NBA Live is an embarrassment.

Mike gave it a3:
I was hoping after the atrocious effort in NBA 08, EA would step it up a bit. However, while the jumpshooting is no longer impossible, the game has these annoying arrows are on your screen that lets you know (and your opponent) where the ball is going to go if you decide to pass it. Still no Franchise Mode. Player ratings and Team ratings make no sense (i.e. Dwight Howard is an 80, the Sixers are the worst team in the NBA, significantly worse than team Canada) and most of the rookies are Free Agents, not on their assigned teams. Another pathetic effort
