Spider-Man 3 on Wii is considerably different than the next-generation versions. It has a considerably longer learning curve and much less polish than its true next-generation counterparts.

A very cool Wii-exclusive gameplay features is the enhanced integration of the black suit. It was more of a visual concept on the PS3 and 360, but in this game it really becomes part of the strategy.
Vicarious Visions has worked very hard on this title to ensure that it utilizes the unique control scheme of the Wii in the best way possible, and they have succeeded. The city is bigger and the storyline is expanded to take advantage of that.

Slinging webs is an accelerated, exhilaration-pushing experience that offsets the return of an old and repetitive combat engine. Wii players have the benefit of using their remotes to attack, which sharply cuts the repetition tied to pressing one button thirty million times.

It seems every time I review a game by the boys at Vicarious Visions I am impressed with what they tried to do with the innovative controls and Spider-Man 3 for the Wii is no different.

A decent enough action-adventure in the vein of GTA and Crackdown. Spider-Man's web-slinging abilities are depicted very well. Go for the Xbox 360 version, the rest are not worth your time. [June 2007]
Digital Entertainment News
The whole “two hands” thing may have been a good idea, but it’s poorly executed, as with the rest of the Wii controls. As for the rest of the game, it fails to make a significant improvement over Spider-Man 2.

My arms are sore from web swinging, I have a headache from fighting monotonous rounds of thugs, and I’m frustrated that in an “open world” I don’t have more control over my destiny. I guess it’s not as fun to be a superhero as I’ve always thought.

So it’s a lot of fun when you first get started and learn to swing around, but the missions are going to get tiring and boring rather quickly.
If you can forgive the game's sloppy visuals, lacking content, and rushed feel- and are simply looking for a better way to web swing then maybe this game can temporarily fill your Wii drought.
Offering up what is essentially a diet version of Spider-Man 3 with motion sensing web slinging and combat is a weak showing, which is why I suggest you pass on this one and find a way to play the far better 360 or PS3 versions instead.

Forget bank robberies and rampaging reptiles; the real crime in this game is the waste of potential.
It's truly a mess, and in many ways it is a step backwards from the excellent Spider-Man 2 game released a few years ago. However, I do think the web-swinging mechanic is big enough and fun enough to make this game worth renting.

Its blocky character models, chronic frame-rate issues, and N64-quality cityscape left my Spidey sense tingling--this game wasn't quite ready to scale the Empire State Building. [July 2007, p.95]
Extreme Gamer
If graphics are your thing the Wii isn’t going to satisfy you, but if you’re in for the total overall experience you might want to web up this version of Spider-Man 3.
No where near as good as the other versions of the game. In fact, the unusual control scheme is so messed up, I think I would rather play Spider-Man 2 or Ultimate Spider-Man on Gamecube through backwards compatibility on my Wii than play this new version.

It is clear that the Wii has the potential to serve up an awesome Spider-Man experience, but it will not be found here.
This game will have a very narrow appeal to kids and casual gamers. For all others, it's probably better to stay away from this.

Just seems like a huge step back from what was achieved in "Spider-man 2."
I would have to say that I was pretty disappointed with my Wii Spider-Man experience.
The sub-par visual presentation really hurts; the Wii version chugs with an inconsistent framerate despite lots of city pop- up and the fact that many 3D structures lack textures completely when viewed at a distance. The battle system, in spite of some gameplay- enhancing upgrades, feels clunky and unrefined. And many of the story arcs, while original, are neither very interesting nor very well executed.

There’s not enough variety here to keep anyone but the most ardent Spider-Man fans going all the way to the end of the game.
Even if you enjoyed the movie, this game isn’t worth your money. It isn’t a sequel, but more like a buggy, half-empty expansion pack for Spider-Man 2.
Read Full Review >Cheat Code Central
Several of the scenes and environments of the game were too dark and seemed a bit choppy at moments. While Spidey himself looked okay, it was the movements of the enemies and the lack of detail to the environments that may throw you off at times.

The Wii version of Spider-Man 3 plays sloppy, looks bad, and just doesn't feel complete.
Uninspired missions, repetitive gameplay, bored-sounding voiceovers, ugly graphics, painful controls. [July 2007, p.46]
GameSpy
The core game is unsatisfying because of the control scheme that seems Hell-bent on ruining your wrists; all that waggling is good for precisely nobody.
Sure, the Wii version throws in some new motion-sensing controls, and you still get to swing around inside a giant, open-ended version of New York City. But everything else about these iterations of Spider-Man 3 is ugly, clumsy, or utterly boring.
Read Full Review >The Onion (A.V. Club)
That same swinging goes awry more often than not, and the graceful Spider-Man smacks face-first into a building.
Read Full Review >Official Nintendo Magazine UK
Dull, and in many cases, incredibly annoying and frustrating. [July 2007, p.86]
Games Master UK
Derivative of "Spider-Man 2" and with double the problems. [July 2007, p.74]
VideoGamer
If you want scripting and performance, go see the movie, and unless you are a Marvel devotee, you'd be wise to steer well clear of this friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
Read Full Review >Games Radar (in-house)
It's so dumbed down that it might actually be more appropriate for children if it weren't for the T rating on the package. Just play the 360 version. Actually, scratch that, just go play Spider-Man 2 instead. It's worlds better than this. There are actually parts of this that look like they're right out of the original PlayStation game from 2000.
The graphics never rise above abysmal, with disappearing textures tag-teamed and an uneven frame rate. The controls, however, ruin the experience. While web swinging offers a few fleeting moments of joy, the tedious combat and horrific camera controls (even worse than the other versions) kill the fun, causing achy wrists.
The obvious rush has resulted a very boring and lifeless Manhattan. We all know the Wii isn't exactly a powerhouse when it comes to graphics, but when it looks like an early port of the PSP game, you're better off looking elsewhere (PS3/Xbox 360) for your Spidey fix -- this isn't even worthy of being called a "guilty pleasure."
This proves nothing is infallible, but for such a high profile release you do have to wonder how long this took to put together and why it shipped in such a state.
The uninspired fighting is replicated by waggling the Wii remote instead of hitting a button, which is as much of a disaster here as it is in any other game.
The game fails on every level. The controls are a mess, the camera is terrible, and the presentation is offensively bad.

Rent It First Being a big spider-man fan it was tough to write the below but ........... here it is : + swinging through the city + large city map to explore + interesting re-mix to the movie story line + added villains + voices are good ( use of actors from the movie ) + kool new moves + loose ' GTA ' type feel to the interface - side missions are very repetitive - some side missions are pointless ( stolen fruit pie ) - wiiMote motion is not always accurate - ' bonus ' at the end of the game is not worth the effort - fighting becomes ' button mashing ' ( it feels like you could do any motion with the wiiMote and fight ) - graphics are weak - not long for dialogue to get repetitive and annoying - camera angles are awkward at times which hinder / cost you a fight = Fun game but the repetitiveness and unresponsiveness makes it frustrating to play through and finish the game. If you are a fan then you might enjoy it in spite of it's flaws.

I do not like this game at all. The controls are a little messed up but i only find trouble when climbing the wall. When I first got wii I had a choice of which game to get. I really enjoyed spiderman 2 on ps2 so i got sm3. I MADE THE WRONG CHOICE. It is not nearly as good (In saying that some people didn't even like the second) I do not enjoy it at all. And cars don't stop for you. I find it not boring but not fun. Definitly for certain kinds of people.

This game was decent, fun controls, didnt really like the story though.
this game is pretty good gave it a7:
This game is good, the bad part they don't have little movie things in it.doing missions and fighting bad guys is the good part.If i where you I would get this game.
Okay. Good: fun controlls, fun swinging mechanics, many moves, large city, your frigg'n spiderman, some boss fights are really unique Bad: Very similar to spiderman 2. Controls take long to master, undergound areas are pointless because of no room for swinging, bad voice acting, bad story, so-so graphics, empty city. Amazingly, this game is still great fun.
Joe F. gave it a2:
This game wasn't even worth renting! Horrible graphics, story and gameplay. It really seems this game was rushed in order to make it out on time with the film. I played about 45% of the game until I had enough of the same. Saving fruit pies from mobsters is not what I had in mind for a spidey adventure. Complete dissapointment!
Willy T gave it a10:
Critics have too high of standards when it comes to wii games. they're more worried about graphics and not about the "fun factor" a game has. But I digress. This isn't a perfect game, but at least it's fun, that's something you can't say about most "movie" based games. Well, that's my comment.
