Mixing old school scrapping with 21st Century sheen, this is a really solid scrapper.

Spyborgs is a great game. If you’re into Capcom games that have had an impact, then you’re looking in the right direction with this particular title. This game is an enjoyable gaming experience and you will probably want to play through the game with all three characters to experiment with all of their different moves but otherwise there is not much reason to replay the game other than the fact that it is very fun. There is also a higher difficulty level and a few other interesting bonus to unlock.

Spyborgs may not revitalize its genre, but it makes a respectable effort. [Nov 2009, p.79]
IGN
Older players will want something grittier and younger players something a little easier. If, however, you happen to fall in the middle and don't mind the fact that Spyborgs doesn't really innovate the beat- 'em-up genre, you will discover a fun and highly polished brawler for Wii.

If you have been hankering for a Double Dragon style game and haven't been satisfied with recent beat 'em up offerings, Spyborgs is going to satisfy that craving.

Overall Spyborgs is a good game, although somewhat far from what Capcom promised. It is a fun game, although it becomes repetitive, above all by an unbalanced gameplay and the seldom sensation of not knowing well what is happening.

A "hardcore game" exclusively on Wii? Spyborgs is a old-style beat'em-up with something less than Final Fight or Captain Commando, since you can't collect weapons, there are no holds and no robots to control. The graphics are nice and there are some interesting extras to keep you play once you finish the main mode. Played with a friend, it's a lot of fun.

While as an experience especially thinking about the collaboration between two players on a concept of constant action, Spyborgs can provide a good dose of fun.

Still, it's not so much that Spyborgs is bad -- just incredibly generic.

A good game. It's not terrible, it's not great, and it doesn't in any way stand out. But it is good and fun to play, especially if you lower the difficulty a bit and bring a friend along.

More than just a simple beat 'em up, less than a completely original game in which we're going to found something really new. Spyborgs is just one of those games that are just fine, with an impresive graphic engine -and a lame camera- that stands for a very enjoyable multiplayer mode. If you're keen on this genre, it will take out your thirst for a while, and that's basically everything that we ask for when we buy an action-based videogame.

Spyborgs is a tribute of the classical beat´em up games taking advantage of the new Wii controls. The 35 stages will offer us a huge cyborgs to defeat in amazing combats. The addictive and fast gameplay with a dynamic experience comes thanks to the chance to jump between the characters to focus better the action. The 2 player co-op plus the unique character unique powers give crazy playing moments. Sadly the lack in innovation and the repetitive of the way affects the interesting project.

So while Spyborgs' target audience might leave a few scratching their heads, it really shouldn't deter those who remember and enjoyed repeatedly beating up various things through the use of combos and co-op teamwork. Because ultimately, this rare Wii game has a lot more going for it than its questionable target demographic.

I don't think it's going to hold the interest of the current-gen crowd for long, and while coming out a reduced price point was probably a smart idea for Capcom, you might want to hold off on a purchase until it drops a little bit more. Still, it's worth playing, but only as a rental.

All that can be said for sure is that this otherwise fine and dandy game is simply missing something that it needs.

Spyborgs might not be the best beat-‘em-up, but it’s enjoyable, even if it can be frustrating at times.

In the end, Spyborgs is occasionally amusing in its mindless cooperative combo-driven combat, but it simply seems too unbalanced—and even unfinished—to unconditionally recommend.

If you're a Wii owner you could do far worse. And for some crazies out there, the whole constant death replay entire stages thing will be like vanilla milkshake: aka as good as it gets.
The combat of Spyborgs is fun enough to fuel an arcade-brawler revival, but a complete lack of variety, length, and design ingenuity derails its potential like a steel-tipped boot to the jaw.

Spyborgs serves up competent two-player cooperative action on a nice-looking platter, but the dish is bland and unappetizing.

Were Spyborgs an actual cartoon, I would probably have been a little more merciful; it produces a licensed game feel, complete with the assumption that players could look up the story basics if they didn't know them. Unfortunately, without actual source material to benefit from, it has an uncomfortably messy plot without enough explanation.

If you're searching for a lighthearted game to play with a friend to remind you of those great old afternoons spent playing Double Dragons, Spyborgs could be a nice choice (also given the almost nonexistent competitors): do not expect something epochal, but as a fan of the genre you could probably still have fun despite the flaws. If instead you're searching for a present for your little brother, cousin or whatever just forget about it: this is just not a game meant for newcomers.

Honestly, a game based on cyborg spies should be far more entertaining than what Spyborgs provides.

All the wonderful frosting in the world can't hide a bad tasting cake, and Spyborgs' positives can't overcome the stale combat and the bitter tedium that sets in through 37 levels of straightforward smack and whack.

Lack of variety and lousy damage indication soil the "Spyborgs" experience entirely.

Capcom's latest attempt to please a hardcore audience tries, and fails, to be God Of War on the Wii.

A thoroughly generic game with overly simplified beat-'em-up mechanics, extremely repetitive gameplay, and a crushing lack of variety.

Spyborgs is like a blind date: clumsy and confusing, but promising some nice moments in the future.
