Summary
While explosively stripping the evil pirate LeChuck of his demonic mojo, Guybrush Threepwood inadvertently infects the entire Caribbean with the arch-fiend's expelled voodoo, which threatens to transform buccaneers into unruly pirate monsters. Pursued by a notorious cut-throat Pirate Hunter and a creepy French Physician who believes that Guybrush's eerily-infected hand holds the secret of eternal life, Threepwood sails the seven seas in search of La Esponja Grande, a legendary sea sponge with unparalleled voodoo exfoliating abilities. But little does Guybrush know, his quest is part of a larger, more sinister plot, and good and evil are not always as they seem. [Telltale Games]

Launch of the Screaming Narwhal offers some of the best adventure gaming we've seen in some time, even topping Telltale's recent quality releases.

A great title that both pays tribute to the series and takes it somewhere new.

Monkey Island is indeed back with a bang and Telltale once again shows why it is currently one of the best in the business for churning out high quality adventure episodes on a regular basis.

Already it’s better than both the Wallace & Gromit and Strongbad series, and makes a move on some episodes of Sam & Max.

While there is no clear ending to The Screaming Narwhal, it is a fun tale that shouldn’t be missed by any fans of old point and click style games.

The game controls flawlessly, especially with the addition of manual movement, and is another worthy entry in the Monkey Island series.

While The Screaming Narwhal is merely an introduction, and provides no clear conclusion, it's still a fun adventure that fans of the series will enjoy.

The queen of the adventures 3D didn't disappointed in the first episode of Tales of Monkey Island, doing justice to the classical series, the title should last about 4 hours with its various puzzles. With perfect gameplay for the genre and intriguing story, the game is a must for fans new and old style. Some may consider a problem that, unlike Strong Bad, all the chapters need to be downloaded for complete the story -- something that would cost 5000 points -- or the price of a regular game.

Serves as a great start for this five-part series. While it doesn't contain much story-wise, it more than makes up for it by setting up the future episodes, especially considering how this chapter ends.

Tales of Monkey Island is a great new chapter in the Monkey Island-series. It's a fun addition to the episodic games that Telltale Games offers and will satisfy the hunger of fans of the series. It's only a shame that the quality of the original series never will be achieved again.

Launch of the Screaming Narwhal is a good adventure game that mostly lives up to the series: the jokes are there and so is the series' feeling. But - considering the bad framerate and badly compressed audio the 1000 Wii Points this title costs may better be spent on the superior PC version.

This humorous and enjoyable adventure is seaworthy, despite some visual choppiness.

The episode's biggest weakness is the clear lack of any kind of grand finale. While the music swells once you leave the island, the finale lacks epic triumph and the denouement amounts to a cliffhanger, leaving more questions than answers.

Weaver G gave it an8:
Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 is a humorous point-and-click adventure much like Telltale Games' previous offerings. The gameplay and controls are well done. However, the graphics are slighty outdated yet colorful and the frame rate suffers just a bit. Load times are slightly longer than desired but I can live with that. All in all, Launch of the Screaming Narwhal is a solid effort and leaves me wanting more. Bring on Chapter 2!
