Summary
Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga is the third installment of the popular action RPG and marks the first time the title is available on a home console. Enter into an epic tale that has endured for generations and generations. For centuries the land of Eldar has been synonymous with chaos and destruction; a place where monsters prey freely and demons wreak havoc, indiscriminate in their attacks. Legend tells of how, ages past, a being known as the Spirit King gained control of the creatures and waged an unrelenting war upon civilization. Order and life were brought to the brink of destruction, but an alliance of the four races was able to drive them back and seal the evil. Centuries have passed since that time, but once again the lands are slowly being overrun by the reemerging monsters. With the continent giving way to madness, a hero must come forth to reunite the races and confront the relentless enemy. And so the saga continues. [XSEED]

Worth Playing
No matter how starved you are for some serious RPG action on a system ruled by mini-game compilations, you can do better than this.

I went into Valhalla Knights with high hopes including the optimism for a clean and smart online co-op multiplayer with a deep and engrossing storyline. Unfortunately I found a very broken and incomplete gaming experience.

Marvellous and XSeed have proven they know how to make far better than this on the Wii, with Little King’s Story, so why release a game that’s nowhere near the same quality? Yes, there’s a lot to do, but when none of it is particularly fun, it’s hard to recommend to anyone but the most hardcore RPG fans, and even they may tire of the broken combat and repetitive mission structure. Enter Valhalla at your own risk.

Some good, some bad. It all washes out to be somewhere around mediocre. (Just under mediocre, actually. The negatives outweigh the positives in the end, since no game should be so dark and drab that it forces you to have to crank your TV up to brightness level 99.)

It's a shame that Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga has such a slow pace, clunky interface, ugly graphics, sluggish combat, dumb AI, and lackluster overall presentation - there are actually some neat ideas in this action RPG. [Oct 2009, p.89]
Gamer Limit
VK:ES has so many shortcomings and fundamental issues that it makes it impossible to enjoy any of its good qualities. It's a title that only the hardest of the hardcore action adventure fans might tolerate.

There's really no good reason to suffer Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga--it's ugly, broken, and seems hellbent on depriving you of fun at every opportunity. Even if you're hard up for a Wii RPG, you're better off skipping it and never looking back. Meanwhile, I'll be hearing those footsteps echoing endlessly in my nightmares.

If you are considering Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga at all, chances are you simply want a Wii-exclusive online RPG, and if that’s the case then do yourself a favor and wait for Monster Hunter 3.
Read Full Review >Games Radar (in-house)
Ultimately, Valhalla Knight: Eldar Saga suffers from an overall lack of polish, as well as being an all-around boring game. Only those starved for an action RPG should think of treading the lands of Eldar. Everyone else need not apply.

When all is said and done, most people will not find Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga at the top of their wish list. It's a persnickety game that offers little but repetitive monster slaying in exchange for its murky graphics and lackluster story.

Your time would be better spent by buying that bag of pre-mix concrete and building something useful - and it would probably be more fun.

As Valhalla Knights moves to the Wii, any potential for fun is buried under tons of repetitive busywork and technical gaffs.

Eldar Saga is a game marred by a great many ailments. It’s functional on a basic level, but it seems to do everything in its power to discourage the player from wanting to spend time with it.

Valhalla Knights only excels at one thing: no other game can grate on your nerves quite like this.

Matthew L gave it a4:
I am disappointed at this game, I was looking toward playing, but I was sad to find out the game is poor. I think this game needed more time in work and than it can be better.
game gave it a9:
this game got a lot of flaws, but I'm pretty sure you'll like the good aspects. I recommend it to anyone who look interressed in this game
Shawn H. gave it a9:
AI is great on the monster side, but if you expect great help from an AI partner... forget it. They often get caught up on tree roots and other random items in the field, and if you climb up a ledge and don't wait for them to climb as well, you will often find them running into the ledges wall when you return. Other than that, I find this game fun, yet challenging at the same time. Even though the co-op play is limited to quests only and not really roaming, online play is just as fun as the single player mode.
