ESRB Rating: M (Mature)

Summary

Full Spectrum Warrior is based on a game commissioned by the U.S. Army to train light Infantry troops in urban combat situations. Soldiers are placed in a tense, hostile, and claustrophobic environment where they must complete a variety of military objectives. Players act as the Squad Leader, providing direction to Alpha and Bravo fire teams. The successful Squad Leader effectively uses cover in the environment and moves his fire teams in a coordinated fashion so they can protect themselves from possible attacks that could come from any direction. Full Spectrum Warrior puts you in the dirt with your men, where danger lurks around every corner. [THQ]

Without a doubt, this game shows that originality in gaming is very much alive and kicking, even if it is wrapped inside a sensitive subject. If you want a true military experience without going through boot camp, Full Spectrum Warrior is it.

What's fundamentally so appealing and refreshing is how Full Spectrum Warrior is a breath of fresh air nor not one but two genres, with the unique gameplay, stellar presentation, and sweet two-player Xbox Live co-op play adding up to make this a winner. [Aug 2004, p.74]

Delivers on the promise of offering a modern day tactical game that is totally different from the average title, yet is incredibly easy to pick up and play. My grievances focus around the slightly linear mission design, occasionally idiotic AI (both enemy and friendly, though more so the former), and a short campaign, but everything else the game offers left me with an excellent experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Oh, and one final message to the developers, a little note for next time-if you're not going to bother making your characters able to climb stairs, a good way to disguise this massively unrealistic shortcoming is to not put any stairs in the game! Something to keep in mind.

Lacks depth in all areas. In any given situation there are only a few options available to you. The game is linear and scripted which means that you can learn by trial and error. Events in a game of this nature should be randomized since that's how a war is experienced.

Jason gave it a6:
The Game Play had a huge learning curve, i had to do about fifteen different things to get my guys to move 15 yards, The Realism is great, and if you like a game where you just command and dont really do any of the fighting this one is for you. but if you like to hold the gun, then wait for something like Tom Clancy or Medal of Honor.

Jacob C. gave it a9:
It is alright it is not the best game but it is my favorite game right now!

Joaquin Da S. gave it a 10:
You gotta use urban tactics in this one. Cool! Beautiful graphics, clever gameplay, nice sound. Overall: Awesome.

J MAN51 gave it a 7:
The game has excellent graphics and a unique formula. however, it can get repetitive and the gameplay just isn't there. Still an great first game from Pandemic Studios for the Xbox.

Billy B. gave it a 10:
It is awesome!

Chewbaca divine gave it a 9:
Full spectrum warrior offers a new gaming genre to this era while showing real to life combat.it is based in the middle east with the usual find a terrorist kill it and so on butthe structure of how it is played is what makes it special.if terrorists find cover in a normal shooter your are capable of caping them in the head but in real to life combat it would be far more difficult and thats how this game plays.if a terrorist has full cover it is impossible to kill them unless you 1.out flank them 2.M203 my favourite 3.grenade them 4.or bound up to there position (but this is quite risky. thats why you get to control a second team, which helps your ALOT.The reason i have marked it down is beacause youll find yourself finishing this in less than 10 hours and the same tacts are used over and over again.but aside from these flaws is a must buy game.

Mr. blanks gave it an 8:
I got this game and riddick the same day. so in some sense, this game waited on my shelf when i saw and played riddick and finished that game, which by the way is amazing. so, when it was time to play "fsw"...i was already gun happy and blood seeking maniac from my moments with riddick; and i guess i expected that much action with "fsw". i am sad to say, i was not very pleased from the get go. some other folks also mentioned the lack of control, such as picking a single soldier and have him be controlled by the left stick and using the right trigger to fire...i desperatelly want this to happen but the game does not let me. since the whole package is very good, great atmosphere and war situations excel over other war sims, it just would have been better to give it a more kick by applying fps elements into it. you get very close to doing this in the game when you select granades and rpg's...you CAN actually aim and shoot whereever you like, which is not bad at all...but walking and rifle shooting is done by moving teams "command and conquer" style. other thing that makes me stick another game into my xbox is that "fsw" is too slow paced and repetitive. when i reach a new level in "fsw", instead of being happy about it i find myself saying "oh darn, here we go again...geeez"...which cannot be a good thing. what i DO like about this game however is that, it delivers what it advertises. i cannot play this game for hours at a time but every once in a while i take it for a ride...well, because i watch CNN and this game is sort of a "breaking news from bla-blaistan, enemy has did bla bla go boom boom" kind of thing...did you get all that?...well, look; dont get me wrong this game is very good-it just needs more BOOM than BLA-BLA....capish?
