Game Chronicles
Pandemic did everything they were supposed to do with a sequel, and Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers is a great game and a great follow-up to the original.

Into Liquid Sky
If you want full control over your characters, then Full Spectrum Warrior may be a little "distant" for you. But, for those looking for a more strategic feel to their gameplay, this title offers up a nice challenge while providing more than enough gameplay to test out your ability to command troops.

Any decent-minded gamer looking for a creative twist on the standard “terrorist hunt” theme should definitely look into grabbing Ten Hammers, be it for singleplayer or multiplayer reasons – even though I hopped on the impulse buy almost purely on the promise of co-op, I was surprised and impressed to find that the rest of the game was very satisfactory.

The multiple teams, added tanks, verticality, precision fire, the stepped-up AI, and the much-needed multiplayer modes are all smart, value-added features. The game doesn't, however, advance much once you get going.

Team Xbox
Provides much of the same fun that the original brought to the table with a more fleshed out feel, thanks to the added squad controls and the inclusion of tanks. For as fun as the single-player game is, it’s the multiplayer that will attract.

The difficulty level may have been cranked up a little too high for the average gamer to enjoy the single-player experience, but the robust multiplayer component of the game helps to make up for it.

The strategy elements and the point-and-click system bog the action down in this game.

There are issues with the title such as the controls, camera and AI but in general these do not hamper the overall game play too much other than causing some player frustration at times.

It’s not for everyone, but if you’re intrigued by the tactical side of combat Ten Hammers is worth your time.

If they could’ve fixed the little gameplay flaws and put a good script in the hands of the voice actors, it would’ve meant so much in this game.

Ten Hammers maintains a great presentation and adds some minor control tweaks, but overall you're left with a strategy experience that feels very familiar if you played the first game.

The Full Spectrum Warrior series has given inspiration to "Brothers in Arms" and 360's "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter", but is still lacking some of its own. [Apr 2006, p.116]

games(TM)
A cerebral and unusual war game with issues that don’t, in the end, detract from its effectiveness. [Apr 2006, p.122]

GamePro
Military strategists will certainly enjoy the close-up and personal tactics you must employ in the game. But for action shooters, Ten Hammers might be a bit too slow-paced--there's more running around than actual bullets-flying situations.

The following is the biggest qualifying statement we've ever made: Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers is a great game, but you will hate it by the time you make it to the end, if you make it at all. [Apr 2006, p.84]

Games Radar
An unholy level of difficulty squelches the fun, and bullets will frequently find your grunts unless they're behind the most fortress-like of cover.

Multiplayer's worth a go, and the game still has a mostly killer presentation, but, really, it's an acquired taste, just like the first game. If you loved that, have a field day.

It’s on Live, though, that Ten Hammers truly explodes into life, the absolute requirement for tactics creating jumpy matches that outgun anything so far on Xbox or its baby brother. [Apr 2006, p.92]

The strategy play can sometimes feel mechanical, but budding tacticians will undoubtedly love it.

The rigidly linear levels with obvious trigger points, the failure to evolve the basic gameplay and the newly random nature of the effectiveness of cover all conspire to devalue what was a novel and rather fun original.

While the tactical combat is still the best around, more casual gamers hoping for a military action fix may find it too frustrating, too inconsistent and too cold for their liking.

Although Ten Hammers has some nice touches, it is nowhere near the gameit could and should have been. This is a case of great original, poor sequel syndrome, I’m afraid.

It's spoiled by painfully awkward gameplay, lobotomized recruits (on both sides), and a million annoying ways to die. [Apr 2006, p.95]

Gaming Age
The lack of control and visibility, the lack of responsiveness of player controlled characters and silly artificial intelligence made it impossible to even stomach the game long enough to get past the same level that was included in the demo.
