Summary
Juiced, as in life, is all about the car. Style comes in a close second to speed, and Juiced offers thousands of real-time modding combinations that empower players to create their ultimate personality-infused street machines. But it takes more than a fresh coat of pearlescent paint to earn respect on the road; it takes the ball bearings to go up against the trash-talking, nitrous- burning faithful who want to strip everyone of their cash, cars and pride. Juiced lets players connect with their community and share the high-octane action by recruiting drivers to become part of their crew and race together as a team to put the brakes on the competition. Features more than 50 licensed vehicles, including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Dodge, Ford, Mazda Mitsubishi, Pontiac, Holden, Volkswagen, Fiat, Renault, Subaru, Peugeot and Chevrolet; Hundreds of authentic aftermarket parts from leading manufacturers such as A'PEXi, AEM, Bridgestone, Ferodo, Konig, Alpine and HKS that provide players with thousands of personalized vehicle customization combinations; Progressive, non-linear gameplay that enables players to build their characters and cars, and gain respect and notoriety by winning races and cash; Unique blending of simulation and the high-octane appeal of arcade-style racing; Ability to build custom racing crews that work together as a team to win races; Authentic car physics and damage; and Online head-to-head play. The Juiced of 2005 is virtually unrecognisable from the Juiced of 2004, and quite frankly it puts "Need For Speed Underground" to shame.

Aside from a few very nitpicky items, Juiced performs like a well-oiled machine and brings something a bit different to this popular genre. If you’re looking for a tuner-style title with a bit of a twist, look no further.

The heart of Juiced is the pedal-to-the-medal street racing. And that's where it shines like a freshly buffed coat of pearlescnet paint. [June 2005, p.83]

Juiced has come a long way since the fall of Acclaim. It's still a huge undertaking, full of masses of depth, but it now plays and looks a damn sight better too. [Official UK Xbox Magazine]

It's no "NFS Underground 2" or "Midnight Club 3" but it is a worthwhile addition to any racing game fan’s library with its unique features, strong career mode and easy pick up and play engine.

The gameplay is varied enough to maintain interest, and its clutch of quirky distractions adds to the experience.

As far as racers go, Juiced presents the best culture integration of any game this year, something woefully lacking in the genre.
A serious game for serious racers with an ancillary interest in accounting and business management. Racing is just a small part of this game that happens when you aren’t worrying about building up an empire of cars, earning more money or the respect of your peers.

In the end, Juiced may go down as a great rental, and a solid racing game. But otherwise it falls into the background as just another underground racing game.

If only Juiced had come out last year rather than now, it would have been much better received and wouldn't have to compare to NFSU2, Forza and Burnout 3 to name a few.

We have to thank THQ from pulling this franchise from the doomed Acclaim brand because Juiced is a good, fun racing game that has some canny ideas.

Juiced certainly has the makings of an average street racer, with lots of customizables and affected street appeal. [July 2005, p.116]
GameZone
The level of customization is really great and the gameplay is good as well. If nothing else, Juiced is a really good weekend rental.

While Juiced does possess some elements of originality, the net effect still doesn’t make the game particularly distinctive or give it any kind of edge over Electronic Arts’ chart-topping series.

The bad news is that long way it took to get here may have been too long for its own good, as it's easily overshadowed by the competition from Rockstar and EA.

If you're so inclined to prowl the mean streets for pinks, Juiced certainly deserves your registration. [July 2005, p.78]
Loaded Inc
A competent racer, lacking in direction and marred by unnecessary flaws, which deprive it of pole position. A definite try before you buy.

A pretty decent street racer, with great selection of cars and juicy customization options.

The racing feels bone-dry next to the tastier "Midnight Club 3"; the tracks in Juiced are closed off and clean, giving the game a hygienic feel.

The biggest problem is that we've seen everything Juiced has to offer before.

If you've played "Midnight Club" or "Need for Speed Underground" for any length of time, it's hard to tell you to run out and purchase Juiced. That's a shame, because this really is a very decent race game.

In relation to the more arcade-based titles available at the moment this game is the leader of the pack, as it manages to deliver everything that makes street racing enjoyable at a high standard, in one neat package. [June 2005, p.106]
Game Over Online
At best, Juiced is a mediocre ride. It's got a few shiny bits in the form of the team racing and gambling portions, but then the rough edges come roaring out of the gate and kill whatever joy you had at playing the game.

It's fast, and it's pretty fun. It's just not particularly special. [July 2005, p.110]

What Juiced offers is a career mode that has ideas about respect and making connections, but in the end is a clunky racer where the main gaming mechanic of making money to spend on more races and car parts can easily backfire and put players in a position of struggling to make ends meet.
It simply exists in an inoffensive and unexciting realm of commonplaceness that makes it incapable of standing out among the pack of infinitely better racers available for any of its chosen platforms.
There's no doubting Juiced is a quality game, but it veers off the racing line with a flawed progression system that starts off promisingly but penalises players too harshly and makes it a frustrating experience to claw your way back.

The simple truth is that Juiced is behind the curve. The racing isn't bad, but the game places emphasis on the wrong reward system.

Juiced can be highly irritating at some times and completely unfair at others. Why, for instance, do you have to help pay to repair other racers' cars yet no one helps you get your car back into racing shape?

Combine the dull career mode, spin-out crazy physics, and average graphics, and you get a ride evoking the same emotions as when DX Civics buzz down the street with coffee can mufflers late at night. [July 2005, p.78]]

Juiced has many interesting features, but they all have been seen before in the games it shamelessly imitates. The game has interesting characters and good career-mode but why bother, when there are better games to choose from? [June 2005, p.62]
Edge Magazine
An impressively comprehensive, reasonably captivating though ultimately flawed experience. [June 2005, p.95]
AceGamez
Whilst it plays fine and does everything you'd expect from a good racing title, it could have done a whole lot more.

Juiced may play well enough compared to SRS or Need for Speed Underground and its sequel, but neither the handling or the circuits can touch Forza, Rallisport 2 or PGR2 for sheer playability.

But daylight racing is not enough to mark this game out from a crowd of games that while steadfastly sitting comfortably in their niches and not taking risks, ultimately are a lot more fun to play.

The only thing worth a damn in this game is the mediocre racing. Unfortunately, there exists a multitude of games that offer equivalent or better racing and a whole lot more.

Dave gave it a10:
I love this game and I think it is criminally underrated! The feel of driving is absolutely spot on, and the graphics must seriously be among the best on the Xbox. Very detailed but also very smooth and a steady 60fps framerate - excellent job. It's a very addictive game with lots of depth and replay value - don't be put off by negative reviews, if you love racing and tuning games, you have to get this!
Josh B. gave it a10:
Great game, fun to play.
Falak. D gave it a10:
This is the best street racing game sine NFSU 2. NFSU 2 was good but it got boring. In Juiced it can never get boring because if you lose your can you can just get it back again. If you don't have this game, it's a must have!
Blue Falcon gave it a7:
It's a decent racing game, on a platform with lots of outstanding ones. The unoriginality is a bit striking in that you customize your ride, and it's got the whole corporate fake street lingo happening. The career is a bit harsh. You can be doing well and all of a sudden lose your pimped out expensive vehicle in a bet, and then seriously struggle to get a decent enough car to earn money again. It can be a vicious cycle. The tracks, while nice, are a bit bland - you don't actually race in anything but closed circuits. If this game came out in 2002, I think it would blow some people away. But today it feels somewhat stale.
MR. SARGENT gave it a9:
Great graphics, great costomizing, just a little awkward on the handleing. everything else is great.
Nikki gave it a10:
I enjoyed juiced, had fun banging up my car but loved all the new things I could add to the car, the graphics and tracks were a refreshing change look forward to clocking the game.
clifford M. gave it a10:
graphics was a definate bonus i had fun customising the car i think this game could give nfsu a good go.
