Beginning approximately five years after the events of the first Knights of the Old Republic, Metacritic's 2003 Xbox Game of the Year, The Sith Lords takes players on an entirely new journey as they assume the role of what is believed to be the last Jedi in the galaxy. The game features a cast of memorable returning characters and sinister new villains. Using more than 30 new Force powers, players can turn weak-minded enemies against one another in combat with "Force confusion" or see through doors and view character alignment with "Force sight." Assigned to protect the Old Republic and the Jedi Order from the terrifying Dark Lords of the Sith, players must explore and battle through seven diverse worlds while being challenged whether to choose the light side of the Force or surrender to the lure of the dark side. Obisidan has delivered with an interesting story, great dialogue, and strong morality system. There are aspects of KOTOR II that are stronger than the first and one or two things that are perhaps a little weaker, but overall The Sith Lords is one of the best RPGs on Xbox.

The game delivers an all important experience that harks back to the elements that made the films great when they were originally released, and even from the start it becomes obvious that a phial full of that authentic LucasArts MagicTM has been sprinkled throughout the game.

There are times when the story of KotOR II seems head and shoulders above that of the first game, and other times it just chugs along like a bad novel. Luckily there are far more highlights than lowlights...Sorry "Fable," this is the RPG of the year on the Xbox.

I am a little disappointed with the number of glitches though and spending time playing as characters other than the exile is daunting at times, but these are all minor gripes for what is easily one of 2004’s best games.

Too many Japanese RPGs include tons of fighting at the expense of a believable plot and characters. KOTOR II bucks the trend by making every battle a natural progression of an engaging story--and just like the first game, it's a story you'll want to play twice, just to see how much insidious fun being a Dark Jedi can be.

The greatest and most unfortunate part of this game is that it's almost a carbon copy of the original Knights. While this isn't a bad thing, because it was a solid gameplay design to begin with, there's not much more beyond a couple of interface improvements, some new powers, and a brand new story.

Tries much too hard for its own good. The writing is mostly passable, but dialogue lacks the feeling and nuances of the original, hence the game is morally much more black and white. The combat is also much too easy. It's still good fun for some of the time, though. [Feb. 05]

The ending has also caught the same sickness that plagued both "Halo 2" and "Half-Life 2," but the result is even more virulent; it made me scream angrily at the TV. When a 23 hour RPG has a less substantial ending cutscene than Katamari Damacy, I begin to despair.

The only real problem is that not enough of the game changed.

finnith gave it a7:
I loved this game, I played it 4 times and will more when I can. But there is a problem. This game could've been so much more. With the storyline, combat and main character development that the first game introduced yet could not perfect. It is sad to see that the sequel has the same characteristics of PSP quality loading times, smaller areas, bugs and general incomplete feel. Still gamers will like the game, but will still feel enraged at the glitches and flaws that could've possibly been eliminated. Although we may blame LucasArts for rushing the game, we can only play the game for the what it is, and because of that I cannot recommend this game no matter how much I liked it.

I haven't played the first game but this must be one of the best star wars games i have played.

Jake K. gave it a10:
Great game. i think they are probably one of the best ones yet. They need to make a 3rd one. And people who said it was a rip off of the 1st one are totaly wrong. It was just as good.

Jonathan D. gave it a9:
O.K. First off to Tom who played it through twice and still gave it a two. if you play a game more then once you probably like it and it deserves atleast a 6 because it keeps your attention. but anyways this game is one of the best stories in a video game i have ever seen. i havent played the original yet but im going to soon. and it starts off EXTREMELY SLOW. so it will take 3-5 hours to start up maybe less and im just slow but once i got my lightsaber i couldnt put down the controller and if you think its too easy put the difficulty to hard. overall a great game with an extremely great story. just play it if your either an RPG fan or a Starwars Fan either way you will probly love this game.

Jeff M. gave it a7:
This game did a lot of things right. Unfortunately, it also did a lot of things wrong (a LOT). Character dialogue was awkward at best, the combat has become excessively easy (Stasis Field has got to be one of the most broken powers ever), and after seeing the ''ending,'' I felt like the developer had come out of the TV and nutchecked me. The only reason it gets a 7 is for the story UP UNTIL Citadel Station part II. Kreia is the only character I felt like I was actually conversing with, and a couple of her comments actually make you think. Also, seeing the far-reaching consequences of your actions can be both very satisfying and quite dismaying, something that KotOR I (kill a couple people in the bar, no one bats an eyelash) didn't convey as well. Still, this game is love it or hate it. To paraphrase an in-game conversation, "Can you teach me to enjoy KotOR II?" "No, I can only TEACH you to play Pazaak." "Well, can you TEACH me to play Pazaak?" "Now you're starting to understand..."

Micheal L. gave it a10:
This game is so much fun i cant wait to play it again. The character design is great, how you can make a lot of different people. and it is nice how you can go to the planets in whatever order you want to go to. Also how you can... Wow i dont know what else to say
