TS2 is no "Halo," but its really, really close. For fast-paced and light-hearted FPS action, it takes a "Halo" to beat TimeSplitters 2.

It is quite simply the best multiplayer value you can find anywhere. That's including the all mighty "Halo."

As if the a great single player experience wasnt enough there are some incredible multiplayer games happening here.

A must have game for shooter fans! Its got a large assortment of weapons, tons of action, excellent multiplayer, and lots of replay value.

From the unparalleled sense of speed and unmatched control accuracy and comfort to the amazing cooperative mode, unbelievably deep and brilliant multiplayer modes, sheer options, and MapMaker feature, there is some much to love about this game.

It takes the absolute best of all worlds features, gameplay, presentation and puts them in one game. Someone finally removed the flaws from the best games and made one with all the highlights, and that evolution has produced one of the best first person shooters ever.

The actual story line is perhaps the game's weakest point, as none of the levels seem tied together in any meaningful way other than the Quantum Leap-like aspect of assuming the role of a character who lives in the time period in order to retrieve the time crystal.

Fun, addicting, original, and has more gameplay options than any other FPS on Xbox, including "Halo." [Dec 2002, p.147]
Game Over Online
A phenomenal title that you will want. With an improved story mode, loads of additional features and easy to learn controls, TimeSplitters 2 moves you past the trouble of having to learn complex rules and gets you right to the heart of the matter: fragging your enemies.

An instant classic with the best multiplayer mode of any console title. [XGamer]

Pure undiluted fun. After an hour or so of play any grudges with the control system or the textures are soon forgotten.

May very well be the best split-screen multiplayer-focused first-person shooter ever created.

A serious tour de force for deathmatch. [Dec 2002, p.141]
GameSpy
It might not be the next "Halo," but with scads of unlockable content, a solid multiplayer mode, and a decent single-player storyline, TimeSplitters 2 has enough appeal to be a worthy addition to your Xbox collection.

The only flaws in TimeSplitters 2, as no game can really escape nitpicking whatever its quality are the lack of any sort of jump and some potentially frustrating aiming.

A nicely balanced, infinitely controllable and visually distinctive ride that simply feels right. [Fall 2002, p.100]
Play Magazine
A basic first-person shooter with the action quotient set on full throttle, but everything about TimeSplitters 2 is handled skillfully and stylishly, pieced together with a scintillating polish. [Nov 2002, p.64]
Electronic Gaming Monthly
The game controls better on the chunkier, first-person-shooter-friendly Xbox pad, making this the finest rendition of TS2 available. [Dec 2002, p.270]
netjak
The characters, levels, and game modes are entertaining enough, and it's got just the right sense of humor. I really can't recommend it for solo players, as most of it's solo modes are aimed towards unlocking multiplayer content.

While the environments are beautiful, the hackneyed time-travel story line feels shoehorned into the experience... [which] ends up feeling a bit half-baked. [4 Oct 2002, p.158]

Kurt R. gave it a10:
Quite possibly the best shooting game ever. The story is deep, challenging, and addictive. The multiplayer has a ton of different game modes to offer. The aiming can be improved but its over criticized and actually deserves praise for the realisticness (its impossible to hold a gun COMPLETELY still, so the aim marker is moving). I've been waiting for a game like this for a long time... give this game a chance and it won't disappoint.
Josh W. gave it a0:
Worst coop game i've ever played!
Esther E. gave it a0:
This greatly overrated exercise in frustration is was not worth the ten bucks I spent on it. If you are a fan of fps, _do not buy this game_. The save system is horrible, which was likely intentional to force chronic replay of the wee maps. The professional reviewers must have been graft-laden fanboys.
Robo Fish gave it a10:
Your all idiots! [Ed: Thanks, Robo... I'm hurt.] Spent more time with this than halo 1 & 2 put togethe!
Alex gave it a9:
This may not be the best game on the market right now, but it still is one hell of a trip. nice graphics accompany a smooth shooter with some nice bits of subtle humor thrown in. the Multiplayer rivals that of Halo for pace, and has about 10x the functionality. the mapmaker ensures that you don't get bored with just the same old set of maps, even though they are all excellently desgined. an absolute must for any hard-core FPS fanatic.
John D. gave it a0:
Quite honestly one of the worst designed games I've ever played. Bought it because it scored fairly high with the critics, including one site listing it among one of the best coop games around. But it's absolutely brutal! Story is weak, graphics and music are lame, control interface is awkward, and game play is awful. Coop play is ridiculous... if one person dies, they CAN'T be respawned, and either have to wait until the other person dies or else finishes off the level. Worse, that usually means you have to start the level all over again (best case scenario there's ONE checkpoint for the level you can restart from). I can't figure why so many critics rated it so highly, but comparisons to Halo are definitely not warranted.... Stay away from this turkey! If you still want to check it out, rent it before you buy it or you'll be sorry.
Gabe R. gave it a 9:
Great game... the story may not be up to par .. but with great 007 goldeneye like controls and fun muti-player I would have to say that this is one of my favorite games on X-box and PS2 if you like this game.. I say play red dead revolver!!!
