The more rabid Tony Hawk fans should find more then enough here to come back and play through it again while the newbies get a great introduction to the series.

Packs in enough extras to really shine. [Dec 2001]

Can the Xbox controller handle THPS? The feeling is quite awkward at first, but after a few hours, you'll come to terms with the button configuration. It's like breaking in a new pair of shoes. [Nov 2001, p.120]

New sounds, better quality, more levels, a park editor that lets you do everything but make you the King of England. The best part is the movies and the near DVD quality presentation they show.

THPS2x does not have much more to offer than the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 as well as the fact that it is a port, even though it is still a great game.

Newcomers to the Tony Hawk series will receive the most enjoyment and challenge from THPS2x, but fans of the series may want to take a brief trip down memory lane, courtesy of the Xbox.

It's a sweet package for your permanent library, bu tif you've played any earlier version and aren't a Tony junkie, you can get by with a rental to check out the new stuff.

Perhaps one of the biggest improvements over previous incarnations of Tony Hawk would be the soundtrack...Now you can skate to whoever it is that gets you in mood, be it the Ramones, Black Flag, or Color Me Badd.

The new levels are good, but they aren’t that good. [Dec 2001, p.96]

The textures in this game may not look quite as nice as the Bungie first-person shooter, but it does make up for it with a lovely blur effect giving you a real sensation of speed and some fairly attractive lighting and shadowing.

If you played Tony Hawk 2 on Dreamcast, your probably thinking, is it worth it? In a way it is worth it, but if you can hold off till THPS 3, then you really don't need to get this game.

For the already initiated, the new levels aren’t even worth a rental and getting used to skating with the Xbox controller can be like getting used to a splinter in your eye.

Despite the new additions, this just can't compete with NeverSoft's latest effort ["THPS 3"], no matter how polished.

I've played nearly every version of THPS 2 out there and none can hold a candle to 2x...[but it's] not better than the 3rd game in the series, nor would I suggest picking up this game over that.

Aside from the new levels (which, it should be noted are every bit as good as those in the original), everything is pretty much straight out of THPS2. [Jan 2002, p.88]

Uter gave it a 10:
10 might seem generous after observing the graphical quality (or lack there of), but really it isn't. THPS2X is packed with extras including tony hawk 1 and great bonus levels for tony hawk 2. So while not flashy, the value here is relatively unmatched. I'd take 2X over Underground without hesitation.

Justin B. gave it a 10:
The first Tony Hawk game for the X-box is a gem! A must-have!

Adam N. gave it a 4:
Stop just stop 2 was enough Tony Hawk games. This is the forth Hawk game. They're making a Tony Hawk 4 is Activision trying to go out of biznaz. The first Hawk game is still the best in my eyes.
