Summary
Bakugan is based on the story of Dan and his friends whose lives were forever changed when mysterious cards fell from the sky. Creating a game from the cards where powerful creatures known as Bakugan battle, it wasn’t long before they discovered that their hobby was much more than just a simple pastime. Utilizing special game cards Bakugan battle masters roll spheres onto the cards, which activate and transform into Bakugan “battle brawling” action figures. [Activision]

Bakugan is a surprisingly fun and addictive and that's coming from an older gamers perspective. Whilst the anime inspired story might come across weak and typical, the game is fresh and rewarding to play due to its tactical slant and despite the fact the AI likes to cheat, but also makes its fair share of mistakes.

The market is pretty saturated with all these collect 'em all games and it's just become a sea of crap. Bakugan: Battle Brawlers is yet another addition to this sea of crap, floating along like a dead fish, rent if you really have to.

Overall existing Bakugan fans should have fun with this title. If you aren’t a Bakugan fan or card games aren’t your thing then this title probably won’t change your mind.

Fans of Bakugan will certainly like this game. There are some liberties taken with the rules but that is to be expected and they only enhance the game rather than take away.

A good title for all trading card game fans, but everyone else should look elsewhere for more interesting gameplay.

Bakugan: Battle Brawlers seems to do things mostly right on paper, though the actual gameplay offers too much build-up to each fight and not enough in the actual battle department.

Bakugan: Battle Brawlers is an interesting mix of card games, marbles, and minigames that generally comes together well but still lacks in variety.

Fans of the franchise will undoubtedly enjoy this video game version of the Bakugan card game, the rest of us however will likely pass this one up.

The biggest fans of Bakugan might not be bothered with this game’s many flaws, but the average gamer won’t have a lot of fun playing Battle Brawlers. After a promising start, the game starts to get boring very fast. The repetitive and frustrating minigames don’t help either, but the worst offender is the fighting itself: it should be the highlight of the game but it’s over in a blink.

Once non-fans master the rules of laying down the cards and rolling the Bakugan. they'll be dismayed to learn that the actual gameplay boils down to repetitive mini-games and a shallow marble-steering gimmick. [Holiday 2009, p.79]
Cheat Code Central
An interesting concept that doesn't translate well to a video game.

Looking at it broadly, Bakugan isn’t a bad storybook for kids, assuming that’s what you – or your child – is looking for in a $40 video-game, a storybook. But as an RPG, Bakugan is severely lacking, and as a mini-game collection, the game is very bland. You even can’t rate it as a card game because, despite the in-game hype and frequent card-speak among characters, Bakugan isn’t really a card game.

An easy forgettable game, too repetitive to be considered even by Bakugan fans.

The foundation works but there isn’t much more than that. A game for those already interested in the series.

A game only for those who haven't tired of this kind of "collect 'em all"-games yet.

Unless you are a fan of Bakugan Battle Brawlers then it probably best you avoid this title.
