Team Xbox
Fans of the series, new or old, will get a kick out of playing as familiar ships or important accomplices in episodes from the boob tube. General sci-fi buffs will dig the pick-up-and plink nature of Battlestar Galactica as well, and may just come away as fans of the cult-classic series due to Auran’s faithfulness to the IP.

This a decent purchase at 800 points, even if just for the multiplayer. The campaign is fun and challenging, but even for a smaller game like this, falls disappointingly short.

The single-player campaign in Battlestar Galactica is fun, I just wish it were longer and more challenging.

This arcade game is relatively shallow and a pale imitation of its television inspiration.

Even offset by the low price and the arcade-style context, Battlestar Galactica just doesn’t have the punch to stand out in today’s market. Even the graphics engine is marred by low-resolution textures, small engagement zones, and dated special effects, and what bothers me about this game is how it could easily be a lot better were it simply blessed with more expanded gameplay.

This isn’t a bad game. It’s just like most other arcade space shooters, except this has a Battlestar Galactica skin. Great if you are a fan, but for everyone else… ehhh.

This game is an unchallenging space shooter made a little more difficult with frustrating design and a terrible camera angle. Even if you’re a fan of the TV series, we really cannot recommend a purchase.

At 800 points, Battlestar is cheap, but in a sky already patrolled by the superior "Wing Commander Arena", these toasters don't stand a chance. [Holiday 2007, p.81]
Games Radar (in-house)
The game does draw nicely on the Galactica license, giving you a few different ships with varying stats to pilot through the different levels, as well as some online modes. But the base game play elements are so broken and boring that you'll have a hard time coming back to the game after a few missions.

It's also insanely easy and offers no lasting challenge. [Issue 27, p.117]
Xbox World 360 Magazine UK
Online multiplayer would maybe be fun - if anyone were playing, which they aren't. Disappointing. [Jan 2008, p.94]
Official Xbox Magazine UK
A tired bit of space trash. [Jan 2008, p.98]
Eurogamer
The worst kind of licensed game: utterly ignorant of the series' charms it's designed to complement, and bad enough at what it does attempt to make baby Hera cry.

Trekster Gamers gave it a3:
EXTREMELY poor showing here! This game should be more of what Battlestar Galactica is about, instead you get a cheap ripoff. They should have taken note form the original version on the Xbox, it was much better in every conceivable area!
Graphitti gave it a5:
I found this very boring and can find a host of other XBL Arcade games worth $10. This is definitely a try-before-you-buy game. Give the demo a shot, maybe you'll be like the other poster and find that this is fun. If an Arcade Shooter is what you are after, check out Heavy Weapon. Cheeky, fun, original, good controls.
Say What? gave it an8:
A reviewer thought that this was worse than Wing Commander? Welcome to the smallest club in the world.... It's a fun shooter and for 10 bucks it's well worth it.
McBain 17 gave it a7:
I think the reviews by the so called "critics" are a little harsh on this game. When you purchase a Xbox Arcade title you should realize your making some concessions. Battle Star Galactica is a fun space shooter to play in small 20-40 minute doses. We all need games like this. Its the kind of game you can just load up and play, blow some stuff up in a world that hopefully your familiar with (its the best show on TV) and cut loose. I haven't had any issues with controls or camera, and to be honest found the controls to be a little more varried than what I expected. The graphics are decent, the game play is fun, and in general its worth its $10 price tag. How many games can you buy brand new for $10? For fans and gamers alike buy it, veg on it, enjoy it.
