Summary
Players use a combination of skill and strategy to complete 38 hunting and fishing adventures across 12 vast Alaskan regions from the North Slope to Ketchikan. With more customization than ever before, each adventure begins at an Alaskan outpost where players choose from thousands of gear options including rifles, shotguns, bows and arrows, fishing tackle, clothing, scents, calls and more. Gamers are also able to go exploring or get to their next hunting spot by choosing to ride a snowmobile, truck or ATV. With more than 20 species of the most sought after Alaskan Trophy Game including Yukon Moose, Barren Ground Caribou, Grizzly and Kodiak Bears, Roosevelt Elk, Dall Sheep, Sitka Black-Tailed Deer, and 10 different species of Alaskan fish, including Sockeye Salmon, Dolly Varden and Arctic Char, hunters and fisherman alike will be challenged for hours in the virtual Alaskan wild. Planet Xbox 360
For fans of hunting games only. The graphics and sound are not even close to what 360 gamers deserve. The gameplay is less than inspiring, and there are some absolutely awful minigames you must complete to progress in your career.

The progression in the career mode is interesting, and trying to bag a moose from a down-town one-shot-kill is just plain intriguing.

While it’s nice that the game tries to mix stuff up with the duck hunting and the fishing, none of these additional activities excel in any way. The A.I. is lacking, the excitement is lacking, and so are the graphics and sound to convince me I’m there.
All in all, while occasionally entertaining, the hunting sequences of this game just aren’t fun enough to appeal to most people and that’s all this game really has going for it given that the minigames aren’t even worth mentioning.

You'll find more action at a sports day for coma patients. Still, it has a bizarre appeal, just don't blame us for feeling guilty afterwards. [Issue 15, p.93]
IGN
Cabela's Alaskan Adventures needed a complete overhaul for Xbox 360 and, instead, we've been given a sloppy port of the old generation engine and gameplay. The way hunting and fishing are presented falls outside the realms of pure simulation and arcade fun, making for a confounding mishmash of ideas that don't work together.
It certainly has enjoyable moments, but overall just doesn’t deliver the visceral experience that hunting should be.

The AI, as mentioned earlier, is really poor. The animals do not behave anywhere the manner you would expect, and even the hunters themselves all seem to be asthmatic couch potatoes based on the breakneck speed in which they fatigue.

If you've ever wanted to be a wheezy, out-of-shape hunter tramping through the snowy Alaskan wilds of Ketchikan and Sitka, then this game's for you. [Holiday 2006, p.76]
Xbox World 360 Magazine UK
This would be a nice (if distasteful) stalk-'em-up, but it's so wretchedly broken in places.

David C. gave it an8:
It's about the gameplay!!! People judge too often it's graphics. This the most played title in our home.
Ryan D. gave it a3:
Just plain brutal... Gets boring after ten mins.
Matthew O. gave it a0:
Terrible graphics brutal game play what else do I have to say oh ya...terrible hunting guns unrealestic...you can never get addicticed with this!
George gave it a9:
This is the best Cabellas hunting game yet. The graphics could be a little better but overall a good game.
Paul L. gave it a7:
Only slightly better graphics than last year's Outdoor Adventures. Better user interface and animal models though. Inclusion of free 1 yr. Oudoor Life subscription makes it essentially a $29 title.
Glen C. gave it a7:
Very addicitng, and fun, but with some better graphics and co-op and it would have been amazing!
