Cars is not the most complex racing game around, but it manages to capture the Pixar spirit very well. Aside from this, it’s an enjoyable game with solid gameplay and a great presentation.

The dicey AI and super cool pit-stop mini-games actually make driving in a circle fun, and on the 360 the venues look absolutely stunning. [Dec. 2006, p.72]
Game Chronicles
Cars is quite simply one of the best movie-to-game conversions in the history of the sketchy genre.

The excitement of playing the game for the first time, its replay value, and satisfying driving and racing styles are completely intact.

Licensed audio tracks ands voice acting from the movie makes the audio worth listening to.

If you happened to have purchased or rented Cars in any of its previous incarnations, your first question is going to be "should I care about this version?" Most likely not.

The gameplay is nothing outstanding, but it's fun enough while it lasts, and overall it looks pretty slick.

The good news is that the gameplay is more delectable than usual movie-licensed fluff, with hours of racing fun for one or two players and a fun presentation that fans of the movie will adore.

There's not much new about Cars for the Xbox 360 to justify its higher price or late arrival, but it's still a good, solid driving game for a younger audience.

Cars is aimed at children and delivers, for them only. There is a place in the 360 market for a game made for young kids, but there is no place in an adult's game library for this.

Cars, is an entertaining game and certainly holds true to the movie which will please fans no end. I encountered no real issues other than it was perhaps a little lacking in content, but that’s from an experienced older gamer point of view.

If you've already played the Xbox version there is absolutely no reason to play this version other than to add gamerpoints to your pile.

It was a cute but unimaginative game for pre-teens when it debuted for the original Xbox this summer, and this 360 version of Pixar's animated movie Cars is essentially a high-resolution copycat. [Holiday 2006, p.76]
360 Gamer Magazine UK
Shameless Achievement Whores are encouraged to apply. [Issue 18, p.87]
Kombo
As unremarkably unremarkable as you might expect. A kid's game, easy Achievements and shallow gameplay. [Issue 15, p.92]
Official Xbox Magazine UK
Painfully lacking in every area, lacking any thrill factor, excitement or variety. [Jan 2007, p.90]

Wyatt G. gave it a6:
6 for kids, but 2 for adults. I got it for my kids but decided to play it to get the 1000 gamescore (yeah I know, cheap gamescore). The driving was easy (as you would expect from a kids game) but a little boring. Finding postcards was fun, but without a guide to where they were a kid would never find all of them. Graphics were good and using the original voice actors was a nice touch. My main criticism was that you were not always sure where you were meant to go to get your next mission even with the map turned on. By the time I got my 1000 gamescore I was well and truly over it, but for kids the appeal might be more lasting.
